Chapter 7 Who is good enough for your precious little sister?

As the summer heat lingered, students in Yulin City returned to school.

On the first day of school, before students had even warmed their seats, the two-day entrance exams for the second and third year students at No. 1 High School kicked off in full swing.

The No. 1 High School always creates its own original exam papers, and the difficulty of the questions has always been unparalleled.

As a result, after the opening exams, there was a chorus of lamentations from the second to the third year of high school.

“Pei Xi, I think I definitely bombed this time. I only finished the first part of the last two big math problems. The first part was so hard, I couldn’t finish it at all.”

Shen Miaoyi sat at the table in front of Pei Xi, turned around and looked at her with a worried expression.

"Moreover, I was unsure about several questions in the English reading section just now because the vocabulary was too difficult, and I didn't understand the last passage at all."

"It's okay, it's just the entrance exam." Pei Xi, always easygoing, squeezed Shen Miaoyi's hand.

Shen Miaoyi's expression relaxed a little, and she nodded gently, asking her, "By the way, what did you choose for the last question in the reading comprehension section? I didn't understand it, so I guessed D."

"I also chose D, but I wasn't really sure about that question. There was a word I didn't recognize."

Pei Xi turned to look at a bespectacled, frail-looking boy next to her, and poked his arm. "Li Yiming, do you remember what you chose for the last question in the reading comprehension section?"

Li Yiming is the class representative. His grades are on par with Pei Xi's. He is honest, quiet, and easy to talk to. He is always willing to help any classmate who asks for his help.

He turned to look at Pei Xi, then quickly looked away behind his glasses, as if he didn't dare to look her in the eye. "I...I also chose D."

“Great! My deskmate also chose D, so we must have chosen the right one,” Pei Xi said to Shen Miaoyi with a smile.

"Hmm, that should be right..." Li Yiming lowered his head, the tips of his ears turning slightly red.

After a while, seeing that Pei Xi had turned around and was chatting with Shen Miaoyi, Li Yiming quietly raised his head, his gaze carefully tracing the profile of the girl in front of him.

Her skin was flawless, her nose was pert and straight, and her eyelashes were as long as raven feathers. Every feature of her was perfect and impeccable.

In Class 1 of the second year of high school, seats were assigned according to grades. As if by the grace of Lady Luck, his and Pei Xi's grades were next to each other, and he naturally became her deskmate.

Li Yiming prayed silently, hoping that this good fortune would continue in the upcoming school entrance exam.

Pei Xi had no idea what he was thinking. He was chatting with Shen Miaoyi, and they had gone from talking about exams to the song they had been listening to recently, an old song from twenty years ago. "Miaomiao, let me tell you, this song is perfect for you. You would definitely sing it well."

"Hmm... I'll try it when I get back." Shen Miaoyi nodded timidly and whispered in Pei Xi's ear.

Shen Miaoyi has an account with tens of thousands of followers. She occasionally posts videos of herself covering other people's songs and is quite well-known online, but she never shows her face.

So apart from Pei Xi, no one else knew about this.

"It's sure to be amazing. I can't wait to be the first listener." Pei Xi rubbed Shen Miaoyi's soft face, looking on with anticipation.

"I'll record it when I get back tonight." Shen Miaoyi was a little embarrassed. She held Pei Xi's hand. "By the way, it's the weekend tomorrow. Let's go to my grandma's dessert shop after school. My grandma has been talking about you for a long time. She misses you."

"Of course!" Pei Xi smiled sweetly. "I'll call my brother and Shi Chen later."

"Uh-huh."

Grandma Shen Miaoyi's dessert stall is located not far from the entrance of No. 1 Middle School. The shop is small and has been open for many years.

It is said that many teachers at No. 1 Middle School were eating Grandma's desserts when they were students, but back then it was just a small stall.

Later, the old lady bought this small storefront, and that's when she finally had a place to shelter from the wind and rain.

The shop's customers are mostly students, and its name is very down-to-earth. The blue and white signboard at the entrance of the shop has red characters that read "School Gate Dessert Shop".

Grandma Shen is very old, over seventy years old, but she is still very healthy, with only a slight hunchback.

When the group arrived, Granny Shen was bending over and cutting mangoes on the cutting board.

"Grandma," Shen Miaoyi called from the window.

Grandma Shen looked up, saw the group, and smiled warmly. Her face was covered with wrinkles, each one radiating kindness. "Miaomiao is here."

"Hello, Grandma." Pei Zhi smiled and raised his hand.

"Hello, Grandma." Shi Chen followed closely behind, a smile spreading across his peach blossom eyes.

"Grandma," Pei Xi called out with a smile, "It's been so long since I've visited you. How are you feeling?"

"It's fine!" Granny Chen put down the knife, patted her chest, and spoke in a loud voice. She pointed to a spot under the parasol outside and said, "Let's sit outside. The weather is nice today."

Pei Xi nodded, leaning against the window and smiling, "Grandma, I want to eat more today..."

"Mango pomelo sago, with extra mango!" Granny Chen interjected, "Grandma remembers it all!"

She then turned to Pei Zhi, who was standing to the side, and smiled with wrinkles all over her face, "I also know that Brother Xiao Xi wants sweet taro balls, right?"

Pei Zhi smiled and said, "Grandma has such a good memory."

Grandma Shen said with a proud look, "Although I'm old, I'm not senile at all!"

As soon as she finished speaking, a voice suddenly interrupted from the side: "Grandma, do you remember what I like to eat?"

Everyone turned to look at Shi Chen, who was leaning lazily against the window, arms casually crossed, a teasing smile in his peach blossom eyes.

"This classmate..." Granny Shen was stumped by his question and looked at the others for help. "This classmate looks a bit unfamiliar."
