In the afternoon, I went home after school.
Li Ma prepared three dishes and a soup, all of which were Pei Xi's favorites. She filled a bowl with rice and ate with great relish.
While eating, she noticed out of the corner of her eye that Pei Zhi kept glancing at her cautiously, like a thief.
After finishing a full bowl of rice, Pei Xi finally couldn't hold back any longer and asked while holding his chopsticks, "Brother, why are you staring at me like that?"
Pei Zhi chuckled, "No...nothing, it's just...it just looks like you're enjoying your meal."
Pei Xi looked at him suspiciously.
"I want to eat some more." As she spoke, she reached for the rice, but Pei Zhi quickly snatched the bowl from her. "Don't move, I'll get you some."
Pei Xi's expression became even more suspicious.
She remained motionless, watching Pei Zhi diligently scoop half a bowl of rice and then place it in front of her.
"Eat more," Pei Zhi said with a smile.
Pei Xi hummed in agreement, then picked up a piece of rice with his chopsticks and put it in his mouth.
She didn't rush to eat, but instead watched Pei Zhi's expression as she ate, her eyes darting around.
After a while, she asked, "Brother, is there something you want to tell me?"
Pei Zhi paused for a moment.
He was afraid that Pei Xi would be affected by today's unpleasant experience, so he had been carefully observing her expression.
But seeing that she had such a good appetite, I breathed a sigh of relief.
Pei Zhi squeezed the chopsticks in his hand, half comforting and half reassuring, "Don't worry, I've warned everyone in your class, and no one dares to be sarcastic anymore."
Upon hearing this, Pei Xi chuckled, "Miaomiao has already told me about your glorious deeds."
"Miaomiao said you're so handsome. The boy who was talking bad about me was so scared that he didn't dare to say a word." Pei Xi blinked, looking regretful. "It's a pity that I never saw how handsome my brother is."
Pei Zhi frowned as he looked at her.
I was certain that the smile in her eyes wasn't forced.
Pei Zhi relaxed the tense muscles in his back.
He had already planned it all out. If Pei Xi was sad or upset, he would pull her into his arms and give her a solid support with his broad shoulders and warm embrace!
But he realized she didn't seem to need it.
He has an incredibly strong mental fortitude; it seems we don't really need to rely on him.
Although his sister looks like a somewhat delicate little girl with bright, innocent eyes that make you want to protect her, she is actually incredibly strong at times.
Pei Zhi curled his lips into a smile, a hint of admiration rising in his heart for Pei Xi.
Pei Xi then said, "I'll organize the materials I can provide later and go to the homeroom teacher tomorrow to let the school evaluate them."
She shrugged, not thinking it was a big deal.
She was prepared for this to be a messy and unresolved issue.
Pei Xi found it boring, even a little annoying.
Pei Zhi nodded. "Don't worry, no matter how the school judges you, I won't let anyone else say anything about you."
Pei Xi smiled and said, "Yes, I know."

The next day, Pei Xi took the things she had sorted out to her homeroom teacher Xu Lian's office.
What she could offer was indeed limited; it consisted mainly of her chat history with Li Yiming and a few drafts.
Pei Xi knew that proving himself would be difficult.
But the attempt to salvage the situation must always be made.
Sure enough, Xu Lian glanced at the items briefly, then placed them on the table, her expression remaining serious.
She frowned, then suddenly looked at Pei Xi and asked, "Did you know that Li Yiming is transferring schools?"
Pei Xi was taken aback, then shook his head.
Li Yiming is the class representative. He usually listens to the teachers, is helpful, and has good grades. He is the kind of student that teachers like. Xu Lian is probably quite reluctant to part with him.
Just then, she heard Xu Lian speak: "I actually know quite a bit about what happens between you students in private."
Pei Xi was startled.
Then she thought about it and realized that it was understandable that Xu Lian knew about Li Yiming's sudden decision to transfer schools.
Before she could speak, Xu Lian said coldly, "Pei Xi, your teacher is asking you, girls can't just do whatever they want because they're pretty, don't you agree?"
“...?” Pei Xi paused.
She didn't understand Xu Lian's meaning at first.
While still stunned, Xu Lian continued to sigh, "If I had known, I should have separated you two."
She said matter-of-factly, "It's normal for boys of this age to have surging hormones and not be able to control their emotions. As a girl, and with such an eye-catching appearance, you should know to be discreet. After all, girls are generally more mature than boys."
"In short, you bear a great deal of responsibility for Li Yiming's current state, do you know that?" Xu Lian looked at her, her displeasure undisguised. "You must learn from this and never let this happen again."
Pei Xi was completely stunned.
Is she responsible?
What responsibility does she bear?
What should she pay attention to?
After a long pause, Pei Xi finally spoke softly, "Teacher... I don't understand what you mean."
Xu Lian raised her eyelids and glanced at her, frowned, and said in a cold tone, "Pei Xi, I want to save you some face and don't want to be too blunt."
Pei Xi paused for a moment, then said calmly, "Then please be more direct. You mean, Li Yiming's transfer was caused by me, right?"
Her words were respectful, but her tone was uncompromising.
"Teacher, please answer me directly."
Xu Lian met her gaze directly, slammed her hand on the table, and said, "You student, are you questioning me now?!"
Pei Xi shook his head. "I just didn't understand what you meant just now."
Hearing her nonchalant tone, Xu Lian instantly flew into a rage. Her eyes widened, and she pointed at Xu Lian's nose, shouting, "I think you really have character issues. I'm going to call your parents over in a bit!"
Before she could finish speaking, a calm voice came from the doorway: "Teacher Xu, there's no need to trouble yourself, I'm already here."
Pei Xi looked up and froze on the spot.
