There were very few people at the entrance of the auditorium, with only a few students occasionally coming out to use the restroom. As soon as Pei Xi stepped out, she saw Jiang Cheng standing by the window at the end of the corridor.
He was carrying a bag, a huge bag full of all kinds of food.
She only mentioned three kinds of food, but he acted as if he had bought a full thirty.
Pei Xi walked over quickly, looking surprised. "Where did you buy it?"
Jiang Cheng replied calmly, "The supermarket outside the school."
Pei Xi paused for a moment, realizing that he was the top student in the grade and had "privileges."
You can get through by simply saying hello to the security guard.
Pei Xi was somewhat incredulous and asked him, "You're back so quickly?"
The whole trip took only about ten minutes.
Pei Xi looked up and saw that Jiang Cheng's forehead was indeed slightly damp.
He was sweating, so he must have walked very fast.
After a moment of hesitation, Jiang Cheng handed her the bag and said in a low voice, "Take it inside and tell Pei Zhi that it was given to you by one of your friends."
Pei Xi took the bag. Although there were many things in the bag, most of them were light, so it wasn't heavy.
But for some reason, she felt that her hands were unusually heavy as she carried the bag.
Regarding Li Yiming's matter last time, Jiang Cheng repeatedly emphasized that she should not tell Pei Zhi that he had helped her.
Pei Xi knew why.
He was afraid that Pei Zhi would overthink it.
Just like this big bag of snacks, because she said she wanted to eat them, he rushed out and bought such a large pile.
Pei Xi glanced at it just now; he bought almost every flavor.
That's why there are so many.
He still wouldn't let her tell Pei Zhi.
Pei Xi suddenly felt very sad.
It felt like he had to hide his good qualities and couldn't openly show them to others.
Pei Xi isn't stupid; she has eyes and a heart. She knows that he's only this good to her.
Even though he never said those nice things.
Because he always does more than he talks.
So she didn't need to ask.
She knows everything.
But how could she tell Pei Zhi?
Pei Zhi was already overly concerned about her, and on top of that, he usually disliked Jiang Cheng. With these two factors combined, it was a really tricky problem.
Pei Xi pondered for a moment, deciding that she would need to think carefully about what to do when she got back.
She concealed the difficulty in her eyes, smiled at Jiang Cheng, and joked, "Then can I share some with Pei Zhi?"
“Of course.” Jiang Cheng nodded, a smile spreading across his eyes. “You can give it to whomever you want.”
Pei Xi smiled and waved to him, "Then I'll go back first."
Jiang Cheng nodded. "Go back quickly."
Then he watched Pei Xi's back as he slowly walked into the hall.
Jiang Cheng turned around, and suddenly a person was standing at the corner of the stairs where there had been no one before.
He paused, meeting the man's gaze.
He was all too familiar with that gaze.
Pei Zhi glared at him, his eyes filled with a barely contained rage.
His hands, hanging by his sides, were clenched into fists, and the veins bulged out clearly.
The next second, he strode towards him, grabbed his clothes, and coldly squeezed out a sentence through gritted teeth: "I told you not to mess with her."
Jiang Cheng showed no reaction; in comparison, he was frighteningly calm.
His clothes were ripped out of shape by Pei Zhi, but he did not resist. He simply said, "I've said it before, you can't control me."
His tone wasn't provocative; it was as calm as stating a fact.
Pei Zhi was completely enraged by his attitude. He used force, pushing Jiang Cheng back a few steps, and raised his voice: "If you have any complaints, come at me! Why drag Pei Xi into this?!"
Jiang Cheng narrowed his eyes slightly, looking at Pei Zhi's furious gaze.
After a long pause, he snorted softly, "Pei Zhi, aren't you being a little too arrogant?"
"What do you mean?" Pei Zhi asked through gritted teeth.
Jiang Cheng looked at him and remained silent.
Pei Zhi always felt that he approached Pei Xi because he couldn't stand him.
It's something bad that's brewing.
Because he probably doesn't believe that someone like him could have genuine affection.
The two men faced each other in silence, their height and size roughly equal, like two equally matched lions preparing for a duel.
In the silence, something was almost about to be revealed.
Pei Zhi's expression grew increasingly grim.
Suddenly, a grand melody filled the auditorium.
Then the host took the stage to announce the program, followed by a burst of enthusiastic applause and cheers from the audience.
Everyone was immersed in a joyful atmosphere.
In the corridor separated by just one wall, the air seemed to freeze into ice blades, and the atmosphere was terrifyingly gloomy.
With a loud "thud," the sound of a fist hitting flesh was extremely clear. Jiang Cheng took a step back and slammed his back against the wall.
This punch was delivered with full force, and blood quickly appeared at the corner of Jiang Cheng's mouth.
Pei Zhi took a step closer, grabbed his collar again, and said in a chilling tone, "Explain yourself, what do you mean, Jiang Cheng?"
Jiang Cheng remained silent.
He knew Pei Zhi already understood.
Thud, another punch.
Jiang Cheng staggered a step and grabbed the windowsill for support.
"Fight back," Pei Zhi said coldly.
Jiang Cheng turned his head, wiped the crimson from the corner of his mouth with his palm, and still did not resist, letting him hit him.
Pei Zhi grabbed him by the collar, like a raging beast, his eyes bloodshot, "Fight back! Fight back!"
Jiang Cheng remained unmoved, his dark eyes fixed on him, showing no anger, but calmly accepting all of Jiang Cheng's rage.
He confessed his guilt and accepted the punishment.
Pei Zhi looked at the calmness in his eyes, his clenched fist almost cracking.
Another punch landed, and a low shout suddenly came from the other side of the corridor: "Hey, what are you doing over there?!"
Then came a series of hurried footsteps. After recognizing the two men, the voice immediately raised its voice: "You've really grown bold! You dare to fight?! You two, come back to the office with me!!"
