Chapter 99 My sister is really good, isn't she?

Pei Zhi walked to the corridor outside the classroom, rested his arm on the railing, and looked down at the people coming and going downstairs, his eyes filled with a somewhat somber mood.

To be honest, his mind was in a mess.

It's been chaotic since we were eating in the cafeteria.

The sentence he saw before going to bed last night suddenly resurfaced in his mind.

Pei Zhi stood quietly for a while, people kept walking past behind him, but he remained in the position of leaning on the fence without moving.

He didn't know how much time had passed when someone suddenly tapped him on the shoulder from behind. Pei Zhi was startled and turned around. Shi Chen had returned sometime earlier and was teasing him with a smile: "I've been waiting for you at the stadium for ages, but I haven't seen you anywhere. Were you just standing here like a statue?"

After saying that, he raised an eyebrow, "Or should I be a melancholic male model?"

Pei Zhi rolled his eyes at him and said irritably, "Go to hell."

Shi Chen paused for a moment, then gave him a push, "Go get your own ball, we'll play with it in PE class later."

Pei Zhi paused for a moment before remembering that he had a PE class soon. He grunted in response and went inside to bring the ball out.

Then I went to the playground with Shi Chen.

After a brief warm-up, everyone was dismissed for free time. Pei Zhi, Shi Chen, and a few other male classmates played 3v3 for a while. During the break, Shi Chen and the others sat down to rest by the court.

Pei Zhi seemed to be on steroids, dribbling the ball all by himself on the court, making a deafening noise.

A boy patted Shi Chen's arm, glanced at Pei Zhi's expression, and asked in a low voice, "Who upset him again?"

Shi Chen shook his head, shrugged, and spread his hands. "Who knows? Pei Shaoxin is like a needle at the bottom of the sea."

Pei Zhi threw the ball with such force that it was as if the ball had a grudge against him.

Or maybe the rebounds have a grudge against him.

Because every time the ball hit the backboard, it made a loud, earth-shaking sound, and then bounced off.

They haven't scored a single goal in all this time.

After the nth time the ball hit the backboard, it bounced away. Pei Zhi scooped it up with his large hand, his chest heaving twice, and then he raised his arm to wipe the sweat from his forehead.

Seeing this, Shi Chen and the other boys lifted their butts and were about to get up and go onto the field when they saw him tuck the ball under his arm and walk away with it.

"......"

Before they could even sit down, they were stunned to see Pei Zhi walk up to Jiang Cheng, who was sitting on the side of the stands reading a book.

"A fight?" Pei Zhi looked at Jiang Cheng, his expression somewhat serious.

Jiang Cheng looked up at him, a hint of suspicion flashing in his eyes, "Why?"

Pei Zhi frowned. "Just tell me, are you going to fight or not?"

Jiang Cheng paused for a moment, then stood up and put the book aside.

Seeing this, Pei Zhi turned around, and the two of them walked towards the basket together, one in front of the other.

Without exchanging a single extra word, the two immediately got into the zone, with Pei Zhi attacking and Jiang Cheng defending.

Pei Zhi scored a goal, Jiang Cheng grabbed the rebound, and then the game switched to offense and defense.

Without a word of courtesy, both fought with all their might, resulting in a closely matched battle in which neither uttered a sound.

It's like they're competing, but you don't know what they're competing against.

Pei Zhi had already used up some of his strength and was gradually losing his strength. His defensive steps slowed down for a moment, and Jiang Cheng seized the opportunity to drive straight to the basket.

Jiang Cheng was the first to accumulate fifteen points. Pei Zhi stood behind him, caught the ball that bounced towards him, his chest heaving violently, but his eyes remained calm and expressionless. He simply conceded defeat: "You win."

Jiang Cheng turned to look at him, his dark eyes deep and unfathomable. He didn't leave immediately, as if he was waiting for something.

Pei Zhi is very different from before.

There was no shouting, no sarcasm, just a quiet, almost excessive calm.

After a few seconds of silence, Pei Zhi finally spoke: "There's something I want to tell you."

Jiang Cheng slightly raised his brow, waiting for the next word.

"I'm sorry," Pei Zhi said in a deep voice.

Jiang Cheng was taken aback, seemingly not expecting him to say that. He frowned and said coldly, "Have you taken the wrong medicine?"

Pei Zhi: "".

He paused for a moment, raised an eyebrow and clicked his tongue, "I'm not an unreasonable person. I know I used to target you, so I apologize to you."

Jiang Cheng remained noncommittal, his expression blank.

Actually, he didn't feel anything about Pei Zhi's targeting. Besides, Pei Zhi hadn't done anything wrong; at most, he was just a little aggressive in his words and attitude.

He apologized so earnestly that he had no idea how to react.

It feels strange and unnecessary to even say "it's okay".

Of course, Pei Zhi didn't expect Jiang Cheng to react in any way. He knew that Jiang Cheng didn't care about this matter in the first place, and his apology was purely an apology for his one-sided misunderstanding.

The two fell silent again. After a while, Pei Zhi spoke up again: "My sister is really good, isn't she?"

His sudden change in tone made Jiang Cheng pause, his eyes darkening.

Then he nodded and said, "Yes." It was more than just good.

Pei Zhi raised his eyebrows and nodded, even curving his lips into a smile. "Yes, I think so too. This is probably one of the rare things we can agree on."

Pei Zhi said half-jokingly.

But Jiang Cheng's eyes grew even deeper, and a premonition rose in his heart.

Pei Zhi's face was serious, unlike before, as he continued, "She is kind to everyone—family, friends, even ordinary classmates. She doesn't hold grudges against others for treating her badly, but she repays kindness tenfold."

"When others need help, she can sense everyone's emotions and then do her best to help them. She has always been like this since she was a child."

Pei Zhi paused for a moment, his gaze towards Jiang Cheng deepening. "So many times, the things she does are simply because she adheres to her own internal order of conduct, simply because she is kind, innocent, upright, grateful, and has a clear sense of right and wrong."
