Although it was only a brief moment, she still managed to capture it precisely.
Pei Xi's gaze unconsciously fell on Jiang Cheng's focused profile. After a few seconds, she pursed her lips, stretched out her index finger, and gently poked his arm.
Jiang Cheng paused in his typing, then turned to look at her.
Seeing him take off his headphones, Pei Xi moved slightly closer to him and asked softly, "Was I disturbing you?"
Jiang Cheng was silent for two seconds, then nodded and said "Mm".
Pei Xi looked into his eyes, leaned forward again, and said in a low voice, "I want to tell you that I didn't leave that day because of what your mother said. I didn't take those words to heart. I... I really had something to do."
Jiang Cheng looked into her clear almond-shaped eyes, gripped his earphones tightly, and remained silent.
He knew she didn't care, because the person who cared was himself.
He flipped the earphones over in his hand, then nodded and gave a soft "hmm," saying in a seemingly casual tone, "I know."
Pei Xi finally breathed a sigh of relief upon receiving a response, feeling a weight lifted from his heart.
She smiled and waved to him, "Then I'm leaving, goodbye."
"Um."
Jiang Cheng nodded, unconsciously gripping the earphones even tighter.
Watching Pei Xi walk away, Zhu Yuan pulled his craning neck back, nudged Jiang Cheng's arm hard with his elbow, and finally couldn't hold back his words any longer: "Hey Cheng-ge, who is that girl? She's so beautiful! She's like a little princess."
Thinking about what had just happened, he burst out laughing. "It's obvious he's never been to an internet cafe before; he doesn't even know how to turn on a computer."
Jiang Cheng leaned back in his chair, holding his headphones, and chuckled softly as he looked at the screen showing his successful completion of the game.
Zhu Yuan is right, isn't she a little princess?
The little princess, so out of place in this smoky and chaotic environment, is both kind and beautiful.
Zhu Yuan leaned closer and winked at Jiang Cheng, asking, "Brother Cheng, what's your relationship?"
Jiang Cheng glanced at him sideways and chuckled softly, "What could someone like me have to do with the little princess?"
He paused for a moment, then said softly, "We have no relationship whatsoever."
Zhu Yuan clicked his tongue, feeling that he wasn't telling the truth. "I just saw her talking to you. What were they talking about?"
As soon as he finished speaking, Jiang Cheng put the earphones he was holding on the table with a "thud" and stood up.
He looked down at Zhu Yuan and said, "I've cleared the level for you. I'm leaving now."
Zhu Yuan's attention was immediately drawn back, and he stared wide-eyed at the screen on the computer.
"What the hell?! Are you even human?! I've been struggling with this for a week and still can't pass, and you passed it in less than an afternoon?!"
Jiang Cheng put his hands in his pockets and closed his eyes slightly. "This game is boring. The levels are too easy and the bosses are too weak."
"...Damn it! That's so humiliating!"
Zhu Yuan yelled at the computer screen, but when he turned around, he saw that Jiang Cheng had already strode away.
