Chapter 41 He wanted to see her every day.

Chapter 41 He wanted to see her every day.

When Lin Chengyu returned home, he saw his parents sitting in the living room with knowing smiles on their faces.

"How is it?" Lin's mother put down her teacup, her eyes sparkling. "Have you been getting along well with that boy from the Yan family these past few days?"

Lin Chengyu took off his suit jacket and casually draped it over the back of the sofa, saying calmly, "Yeah, it's fine."

Mr. Lin raised an eyebrow, clearly dissatisfied with the perfunctory answer: "What do you mean by 'pretty good'? After your mother and I went on a blind date, I wrote three love letters overnight and delivered them to her doorstep the next morning."

Lin's mother covered her mouth and chuckled, then nudged her husband: "You were just being persistent, luckily I was soft-hearted back then."

Lin Chengyu watched his parents bickering affectionately, and the corners of his mouth turned up slightly, but he quickly returned to his calm and composed demeanor.

He knew exactly what his parents were thinking; they wanted him to take the initiative and, ideally, to solidify the relationship and get engaged immediately.

He spoke, his voice gentle yet firm, "No rush."

"How can we not be anxious?" Lin's mother frowned. "If you don't hurry, what if someone else snatches her away?"

Mr. Lin nodded in agreement: "Yes, when it comes to matters of the heart, you have to act when the time is right; hesitation will lead to defeat."

Lin Chengyu lowered his eyes; of course he wanted to seize the opportunity.

He wanted it more than anyone else.

He wanted to see her every day, to stand openly beside her.

But he was more afraid of scaring her.

Yan Shuang is not the kind of girl who can be moved by passionate pursuit.

She was calm, composed, and even somewhat aloof.

If he acts too eager now, she will only back down further.

“I know what you’re worried about.” He looked up, his tone calm, “but I don’t want her to think that I’m only getting close to her because of my family’s arrangements.”

Lin's mother opened her mouth, wanting to persuade him again, but Lin's father glanced at his son thoughtfully and said, "Fine, you have your own pace."

Lin Chengyu nodded; of course he wouldn't do nothing.

No rush.

He has plenty of patience.

He got up, said goodnight to his parents, and went upstairs.

Back in his room, he stood by the window, gazing intently at the garden in the night.

After a long while, he took out his phone and opened Yan Shuang's chat window.

The cursor blinked as he typed and then deleted.

Yan Shuang's fingers typed the last period on the keyboard, and the document on the screen was finally completed.

She rubbed her aching neck. The streetlights outside were already on, and she was the only one left in the office.

The time displayed in the lower right corner of the computer screen is 20:17.

She actually worked overtime for two more hours on this proposal for the South City project.

Mingming Shangqiu Zhu has clearly refused her participation in this project.

She checked the document from beginning to end to ensure that every piece of data was accurate and every suggestion was well-founded.

This proposal was even more complete than the original version she showed to Shang Qiuzhu, addressing the issues Shang Qiuzhu pointed out and adding cost estimates and risk assessments.

With the mouse hovering over the send button, Yan Shuang bit her lower lip.

She hesitated for a moment, but still clicked the send button and sent the email to Director Chen, the person in charge of the Nancheng project.

The computer screen displayed a "sent successfully" message, and Yan Shuang breathed a sigh of relief, as if a heavy burden had been lifted.

That's it, she said goodbye to the project in her heart.

The office was so quiet you could hear the hum of the air conditioner. Yan Shuang picked up her bag, ready to leave, her gaze drifting towards the CEO's office.

The door was ajar, and it was pitch black inside.

He's gone.

As the elevator descended, Yan Shuang leaned against the cold metal wall and closed her eyes wearily.

She only reluctantly took her phone out after it vibrated for the third time in her bag.

The name flashing on the screen made her pause for a moment: Lin Chengyu.

She had almost forgotten about this person.

Yan Shuang answered the phone: "Hello, Mr. Lin?"

"Still not resting?" Lin Chengyu's gentle voice came from the other end of the phone. The background noise was very quiet, as if he was also in some enclosed space.

Yan Shuang leaned against the elevator wall and smiled wearily: "Just got off work. Is there something you need?"

"I heard you've been very busy with work lately," Lin Chengyu said with concern. "I've asked my family to prepare some supplements, and starting tomorrow, the housekeeper will deliver them to your office every day. Bird's nest and ginseng are very effective in relieving fatigue."

The elevator slowly descended. Yan Shuang stared at the constantly changing floor numbers, her brows furrowing slightly: "This is too much trouble for you, no need..."

"Please help me," Lin Chengyu interrupted her, his tone tinged with helplessness. "Your elders know you work hard, and they specifically asked me to do this. If I don't even send this small token of my appreciation, I'll get nagged when I get back."

Yan Shuang opened her mouth, but in the end she didn't refuse.

She did feel extremely exhausted; lately, even coffee hadn't given her the energy. "Well... thank you. I'll come to thank you again another day."

Lin Chengyu seemed relieved, his voice becoming lighter, "By the way, are you free this weekend? A new restaurant just opened in the west of the city..."

"Sorry, I have to work overtime this weekend," Yan Shuang refused almost reflexively. "I really can't get away."

There was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone.

In that brief lull, Yan Shuang's phone suddenly vibrated; a call was coming in. She glanced at the elevator; it was almost on the first floor.

"Mr. Lin, I have a call coming in, I'll hang up now. Thank you for the supplements." She finished speaking quickly and switched calls without waiting for a response.

The elevator doors slowly opened, and Yan Shuang strode towards the building entrance, completely unaware of how abrupt her hasty hanging up had been.

On the other end of the phone, Lin Chengyu held the phone that had already ended the call.

On the coffee table lay a meticulously prepared weekend itinerary, including concert tickets, restaurant reservation confirmations, and even two VIP tickets to a newly released movie.
