Chapter 58 I Want to Kiss You, Sister
Yan Shuang followed Lin Chengyu through an unassuming black iron gate, and suddenly the area opened up before her. The entire field was paved with a smooth asphalt track, with blue guide lights shining on both sides.
In the distance stands a silver-gray parachute tower, with a large "LIN" logo printed on the top.
As dusk settled, the sky was tinged with the afterglow of crimson and orange-gold.
Several helicopters, painted in matte black, were parked on the tarmac, their wings bearing the understated Lin family crest.
Further away, a pure white Gulfstream private jet was being slowly pushed out of the hangar by ground crew, its luxury bordering on arrogance.
"Is this your home?" Yan Shuang stood there, stunned, the wind whistling past her ears.
Lin Chengyu casually picked a sycamore leaf that had slipped off his shoulder; he didn't know when it had followed him all the way from the USC campus.
"My eighteenth birthday present," he said casually.
Yan Shuang's breath hitched.
She recalled that when she was eighteen, her parents gave her only a modest luxury watch, while Lin Chengyu received the whole sky.
"Envious?" he chuckled softly.
Yan Shuang pursed her lips and didn't answer, but her eyes betrayed her emotions.
Her gaze swept over the busy dispatchers behind the control tower glass, the black-uniformed bodyguards waiting by the runway, and the Gulfstream aircraft in the distance that could soar into the sky at any moment.
This is not just "a venue", but Lin Chengyu's world.
He stood at the center of the world, looking down at her with eyes full of tenderness.
“No need to be envious, sister.” He leaned closer. “What’s mine is yours.”
Lin Chengyu looked at her slightly widened eyes and a faint smile appeared on his lips.
He took a black magnetic card out of his pocket, leaned forward, and hung the pass around her neck.
Yan Shuang lowered her head. On the card, next to the dark gold Lin family crest, the gold lettering clearly read:
"YAN SHUANG · Unlimited Permissions · LIN AVIATION"
"This is for you," he said softly. "Miss Yanshuang has unlimited usage rights."
Yan Shuang held the card tightly. This was no ordinary visitor card, but a pass that had been prepared in advance and was exclusively for her.
"When...did you prepare this?" She looked up and met his deep eyes.
Lin Chengyu chuckled softly, offering no reply, but instead reaching out to tidy her wind-blown hair.
In fact, he wanted to give much more than that.
He wanted to give her the entire flight base, to put the key to the Gulfstream G650 on the tarmac in her hand, and even to make her the true mistress of this place.
But seeing her slightly reddened earlobes and gently pursed lips, he ultimately lowered his gaze, concealing the possessiveness surging within him.
Take your time.
Anyway, she'll eventually realize that what he gave her was never a pass, but the key to his world.
A gust of wind suddenly rose, causing his clothes to flutter wildly, with the runway lights gradually illuminating behind him.
He only looked at her.
When Yan Shuang changed her clothes and came out of the door, Lin Chengyu was already dressed. He stood by the wall, his black flight suit outlining his straight shoulders, and the fitted waist design made his figure look even more slender and neat. His leather gloves were not fully on, half-draped over his well-defined fingers, revealing sharp lines in his wrist bones.
She saw his profile as he lowered his head to adjust the strap of his goggles. The lines from his brow bone to the bridge of his nose were as steep as mountain ranges, and his jawline was clean and sharp. He looked like an elite pilot who had stepped out of an aviation magazine.
Would someone like that need to pretend to be your partner to deceive your parents?
The thought flashed through his mind just as Lin Chengyu looked up. His goggles were pushed up and held in front of his forehead, revealing his amber eyes, which were clear and almost transparent in the setting sun.
Yan Shuang's breath hitched slightly. This was clearly a face that could make someone's heart flutter for a lifetime, yet the owner was completely oblivious and even gave her a completely unguarded smile.
"You look great in this, sister." He walked over and reached out to adjust her crooked neckline, his fingertips pausing restrainedly for half a second when they touched her fair skin.
Yan Shuang looked at him and finally realized.
This child must be too naive.
He has a face that could bring ruin to a country, yet he doesn't even dare to hold a girl's hand. He probably doesn't know how to develop romantic relationships, which is why his family is pressuring him to go on blind dates.
A sense of mission suddenly welled up in her heart, and she raised her hand to pat his shoulder: "Don't worry, I will take good care of you."
Lin Chengyu paused, a dark and ambiguous emotion flashing in his eyes, but when he looked up again, he smiled innocently: "Yes, I'll listen to my sister."
The person who had been so confident just a moment ago saying "I will take good care of you" suddenly started trembling uncontrollably when she actually stood on the takeoff platform.
The wind howled past her ears, and the metal railing beneath her feet trembled slightly. Through the gaps, she could see trees shrunken to the size of toys a hundred meters below. She gripped the railing tightly, her knuckles turning white, and realized that she hadn't done anything out of line in many years.
Those tamed memories surged up: her father said, "A girl should act like a girl," her mother instructed, "The daughters of the Yan family must be dignified," her colleagues commented, "What makes Secretary Yan most reassuring is that she never oversteps her bounds"...
She instinctively took a half step back, only to bump into a warm chest.
"Scared?" Lin Chengyu's voice came from above, the vibration of laughter penetrating through their pressed backs. "Who was just saying they were going to protect me?"
Yan Shuang turned her head away in embarrassment and anger, but he reached out with both hands and slowly pried open her fingers that were tightly gripping the railing.
"Your hands are so cold?" he whispered.
Before Yan Shuang could answer, he had already reached out and grasped her trembling fingers.
His palms were large and his fingers were long and slender, completely enveloping her cold fingertips.
Yan Shuang instinctively tried to pull her hand away, but he held it even tighter.
"Don't move." His voice deepened, his breath brushing against her ear. "Fasten your seatbelt."
As he adjusted the seatbelt, he half-encircled her in his arms. His chest pressed against her back, and even through the heavy flight suit, Yan Shuang could feel the rhythmic rise and fall of his chest, steady and powerful, a stark contrast to her own erratic heartbeat.
"So nervous?" He chuckled, his Adam's apple brushing against her earlobe. "Where did your earlier bravado go?"
Yan Shuang stubbornly insisted, "Who's nervous? I just need to mentally prepare myself."
Lin Chengyu looked down at her.
She bit her lower lip so hard it turned white, then quickly filled with blood. Despite being terrified and struggling to breathe, she stubbornly clung to the cabin door handrail.
"How about we come again next time?" His voice unconsciously softened. "We can go back and have a hot cocoa first."
"No," Yan Shuang immediately shook her head. "There might not be another chance next time."
Lin Chengyu's eyes suddenly darkened.
"Yan Shuang," he said, not calling her "sister," "you can come anytime you want."
His hand, gripping her waist, tightened unconsciously. "This place will always be ready for you, the control tower will always be lit for you. There might not be a next time, only..."
A broadcast suddenly sounded, announcing preparations.
"...It's just a matter of whether you're willing or not." The last half of the sentence dissipated in the roar of the engine, and Yan Shuang didn't hear it.
Yan Shuang took a deep breath, the sound of the wind filling her ears.
“I’m ready,” she said.
Lin Chengyu took her hand and guided her to the release buckle of her parachute pack. His lips almost touched her earlobe as he said, word by word, "Remember, if there's an accident, pull here."
His fingertips, carrying hers, slowly traced the metal buckle.
Yan Shuang held her breath as his chest pressed against her back, his chin resting on her shoulder, and his hands wrapped around her from behind, as if imprisoning her entirely in his embrace.
"Did you remember?" he asked, his voice lower and hoarser than usual.
Yan Shuang nodded haphazardly, her heart pounding so hard it felt like it was about to burst out of her chest.
"Three." His lips brushed against the tip of her ear, the breath lifting the stray hairs at her temple.
"Two." He tightened his arms around her waist, and the last gap between them disappeared.
"one."
The world suddenly turned upside down.
Yan Shuang's scream was torn apart by the gale, and the feeling of weightlessness overwhelmed all her senses like a tidal wave. Clouds rushed towards her, cold mist brushed against her cheeks, and behind her was Lin Chengyu's burning body temperature.
She opened her eyes with a tremor. The entire city of Los Angeles stretched out beneath her feet like a dazzling galaxy, and the distant coastline shimmered with the last golden-red light of dusk. The clouds surged like ocean waves beneath them.
"Is it pretty?" he asked.
Yan Shuang couldn't speak, she could only nod vigorously.
Amidst the howling wind, Lin Chengyu adjusted the angle of his wingsuit, carrying Yan Shuang as they plunged towards the sea level.
The exhilarating feeling of weightlessness made Yan Shuang scream again, her voice scattering in the wind and turning into a string of crisp laughter. Her hair danced wildly in the wind, a few strands clinging to her lips, which Lin Chengyu gently brushed aside.
"Look ahead." He whispered close to her ear, tightening his grip on her arm and turning her around.
They were flying close to the sea surface, so close that they could see the white foam breaking off from the crests of the waves.
As the sun set, their shadows swept across the waves, and the salty sea breeze rushed towards them. Yan Shuang opened her arms, her fingertips tracing the splashing waves. The coolness made her shiver, and then she laughed even more heartily.
Lin Chengyu kept looking at her.
Tiny water droplets clung to her eyelashes, trembling with her smile. Her cheeks, flushed with excitement, were more radiant than any sunset.
The whistling wind filled her ears, and Yan Shuang opened her arms, feeling the vibrations of the airflow billowing between her wingsuits.
Below me stretched the Los Angeles coastline, with azure waters lapping against the rocks.
Yan Shuang adjusted her posture, her eyes slightly red.
How long has it been since I've felt this free?
Adulthood is like a pre-programmed routine: wake up on time, smile politely, and complete every task perfectly.
A single tear had barely welled up when it was blown away by a gust of wind.
Lin Chengyu seemed to sense something, so he wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her closer to him.
"Thank you," she shouted loudly.
He suddenly spun around her, their wingsuits skimming the crests of the waves, splashing water onto them both. Yan Shuang cried out in surprise, instinctively leaning back into his arms, her back pressed tightly against his chest.
He couldn't help but laugh out loud and hugged her even tighter.
Yan Shuang turned her head, only to meet his deep gaze.
At such close range, she could see her reflection in his pupils, and the burning emotions the boy couldn't hide.
She met his gaze in mid-air, with the boundless blue sky and the endless sea behind her.
The wind howled in her ears, but at this moment it seemed to stand still, and the only thing left in the world was his hot breath brushing against her lips.
Lin Chengyu lowered his head, his nose brushing against her cheek.
“We caught the sunset, sister,” he whispered.
The sound of the wind suddenly seemed very, very far away.
Lin Chengyu raised his hand and gently cupped her face in his palm, but the temperature of his palm was incredibly hot.
"I want to kiss you, sister."
His voice was soft, yet exceptionally clear, striking her heart directly.
Yan Shuang instinctively wanted to back away, but there was nowhere to retreat. She wanted to refuse, but Lin Chengyu didn't give her time to think.
Lin Chengyu suddenly leaned down, took her hand, and gently kissed her cheek.
The kiss was as light as a feather, yet it made Yan Shuang freeze completely.
Only when she regained her senses did she suddenly open her eyes wide and look at him in disbelief.
Lin Chengyu immediately let go of her hand.
"I'm sorry." His voice was low and husky, his eyelashes drooping. "Did I offend my sister?"
He looked up at her, his eyes innocent and sincere: "I've seen in British movies that kissing a woman is considered a polite gesture." He paused, then added, "Especially at sunset."
Yan Shuang: "...?"
She stared at him for a few seconds, then suddenly deflated.
She should have been angry, but seeing his slightly reddened earlobes, her anger inexplicably dissipated.
If it were anyone else who dared to kiss her so suddenly, she would have slapped them long ago. But facing Lin Chengyu, she could only sigh helplessly.
"Next time... don't learn this nonsense." She turned her face away, hiding her burning ears.
Lin Chengyu nodded obediently, but a smile quietly crept onto his lips.
A sea breeze swept by, dispelling the fleeting smug smile in his eyes.
