Chapter 65: No Unity

The deal the woman was working on was finally completed. She watched the other party scoop out the last bowl of dried meat and accept it. Only then did she have time to look at Qiao Yu and his group.

She saw that the three men had no feathers on their heads and the animal skins on their bodies were just ordinary sheepskins. Qiao Yu was still a teenager and said indifferently, "Thirty bowls of dried meat." Then he said, "It's getting late. We have to close the stall. Change it quickly." His tone was not very good.

Qiao Yu shrugged and said to Shu, "Let's go." Then he walked back.

Shu was worried that Qiao Yu would be angry with him, so he comforted her as they walked: "People from the big tribe are like this, they look down on us. Because we don't have much dried meat and animal skins to exchange for things, we can't afford these things. So they don't bother to pay attention to us."

"I know, it's okay." Qiao Yu said with a smile.

Seeing that everyone around was busy packing up their stalls, Man lowered his voice and asked, "Yu, do you want to take out our stuff to trade?"

"Yes, of course." Qiao Yu couldn't suppress a smile on his face.

She wasn't afraid of the Stone Tribe, but she couldn't afford to offend the larger tribes. She was worried that bringing the pottery out would cause trouble, so she brought it out without actually expecting to trade it, just hoping for a lucky break.

Unexpectedly, a tribe had made pottery, standing between her and the Sun Tribe. With this shield, her pottery could be traded.

Tsk, I’m still timid and brought too little.

"Let's go and take a look at the pottery of the Sun Tribe." Qiao Yu said, and decided to come back tomorrow to find out which tribe this stall belongs to.

The three of them walked for a while before arriving at the Sun Tribe's stalls. All the vendors on both sides of the road wore feathers in their hair. Qiao Yu walked quickly, never forgetting to glance at the stalls, and found quite a few goodies.

Her eyes sparkled with excitement.

This trade fair was really well organized.

"Hey, there's another stall selling pottery." Man shouted.

Qiao Yu glanced at the stall owner and noticed a bright blue feather stuck in his hair. She asked depressedly, "Isn't this Tao from the Sun Tribe?"

Man nodded, then shook his head, a bit confused. "The Sun Tribe's pottery used to be placed in the front. The first stall was salt, and opposite the salt stall was pottery. How did they get it here? And..."

He glanced at the stall owner and said, "They don't seem to be the same group of people who originally exchanged for pottery."

Although the people of the Valley Tribe couldn't afford to trade for pottery, they would always visit the pottery stalls every time they came to the trade fair, as it was an eye-opener. Man had an excellent knack for recognizing people; he could almost always remember anyone he'd met once. But he was certain the person at this stall was someone he had never seen before.

Qiao Yu glanced at the stall and had some guesses in his mind.

"Let's go forward," she said.

The three of them quickened their pace and headed straight for their destination without looking around at the stalls on either side.

After walking for a while longer, they finally reached the end of the stalls.

There were two large stalls, both packed with people. One was exchanging salt for salt, the other was looking to see the pottery stall, but few were actually exchanging pottery.

Qiao Yu squeezed in and pointed at a pottery jar and asked, "How do I change this jar?"

There were a few men setting up the stall, and they seemed to be used to this kind of situation where people just looked at the goods without changing them.

One of the men glanced at Qiao Yu and replied, "Forty bowls of dried meat."

Qiao Yu looked at the bowl in front of them for weighing the dried meat. It was exactly the same size as the one at another stall.

"What about this?" she asked, pointing to a ceramic bowl.

"Fifteen bowls."

Qiao Yu looked at their pottery again and squeezed out of the crowd.

Shu and Manyi accidentally lost Qiao Yu. They were getting anxious and were planning to have one of them squeeze in to find her while the other stayed outside to guard her so that she wouldn't be lost when she came out. Then they saw Qiao Yu coming out.

"Let's go, change the fire and go back."

Qiao Yu asked Man to take the dried meat to exchange for the fire, and he ran to the salt stall opposite to take a look. Seeing Man coming back with a torch, the three of them walked back.

After walking for a long time, the people setting up stalls on both sides no longer had feathers on their heads. Only then did Shu and Man ask her, "How is the pottery from the Sun Tribe?"

"It's expensive, but the quality is better than the pottery at the other two stalls." Qiao Yu said.

While the pottery was also hand-molded, the maker clearly possessed far greater experience. The shape was beautiful, and the thickness was perfectly even. The vessel had smooth lines, and not only was it patterned, but a small lace pattern was also crafted around the rim, adding to its beauty.

Qiao Yu was very satisfied with the situation presented by several large tribes.

It seems not only the Shanyin Tribe, but even the Sun Tribe is not united. Otherwise, they wouldn't have set up two pottery stalls. The salt stall should be controlled by the Sun Tribe leader, and no one else can interfere. But the pottery making is different.

It would be better if the big tribe was not united, otherwise these small tribes would have no way to survive.

He returned to his stall and asked everyone to light the fire. Qiao Yu took out twenty or so raw potatoes and buried them under the fire.
