Chapter 55 Sweet Life: Honey
At noon, Liu Chengxu was having lunch with her colleagues in the science park cafeteria when her phone screen lit up; Su Zhiluo had sent her a message.
Liu Chengxu took a picture of the plate and sent it over: 【This is what we're having today.】
Su Zhiluo: [What should we eat tonight?]
Liu Chengxu: [Eating his wife.]
Su Zhiluo: [Kneel down presumptuously.JPG]
The message was sent out and then quickly retracted—probably a slip of the hand.
Liu Chengxu raised an eyebrow: [???]
Then she followed up with: "So you like this kind of thing?"
Su Zhiluo: [I clicked on this by accident.]
Liu Chengxu: [I don't believe it.]
Su Zhiluo: [It's always you who does this.]
She quickly changed the subject: "Tell me quickly, what do you want to eat?"
Winter is here, the weather is cold, and I always crave something warm to eat.
Liu Chengxu: [Let's cook a hot pot, it'll warm us up.]
Su Zhiluo: [Okay, you focus on eating first, the noodles are getting cold.]
At this, Liu Chengxu looked up, and his colleagues laughed, asking, "Director, are you getting married?"
Liu Chengxu had been wearing this ring for a while, but every time he did, he would unconsciously turn the ring on his ring finger.
Liu Chengxu's lips curved into a smile: "Soon. The date hasn't been set yet, which doesn't bother me, but she values the ceremony more."
My colleague smiled knowingly.
Su Zhiluo often brought meals, and many people had seen her. Someone joked, "Is she that pretty lady who comes often?"
My colleague asked, "Does your family agree?"
Liu Chengxu nodded, but didn't mention his relationship with Su Zhiluo or his family ties, to avoid rumors circulating in the company later. "I agree with everything. She's a very good person." Her eyes were gentle. "She's the best and gentlest person in the world. Without her, I wouldn't be who I am today. She supported my education."
My colleague looked surprised.
Liu Chengxu smiled.
She didn't go astray or pick up any bad habits, all thanks to her sister-in-law's good upbringing.
Sometimes I think back to those days when she was abandoned by her parents and homeless. If it weren't for her sister-in-law reaching out to help her, the world probably wouldn't have shown her any more pity.
Her sister-in-law not only raised her, but also taught her to be an upright person.
After chatting for a while, the colleagues had almost finished eating and said, "Director, please continue eating. We'll be leaving now."
Liu Chengxu lowered his head and continued chatting with Su Zhiluo: [What did you eat for lunch, wife?]
Su Zhiluo: [Lean pork soup.]
Liu Chengxu: [Wife.]
A few seconds passed.
Su Zhiluo: [What?]
Su Zhiluo: [Understood.]
Su Zhiluo: [Mm.]
Liu Chengxu suddenly remembered that the stir-fried beef at this restaurant and the fried bread slices and fried rice cakes next door were quite good.
How wonderful, such ordinary days.
After work that evening, Liu Chengxu made a special detour to that shop and bought a stir-fried beef dish and fried rice cakes to go. He drove today, and if there wasn't traffic, it should still be hot when he got home.
On the way, he was on a voice call with Su Zhiluo, chatting idly. As Liu Chengxu listened, the corners of his lips unconsciously curved into a smile.
When she arrived at her doorstep, she pressed the fingerprint lock.
As soon as the door opened, Su Zhiluo came out to greet her, her eyes smiling. She naturally took the things from her hands and said softly, "You're back. You must be tired."
Liu Chengxu changed his shoes at the door, hung his coat on the hanger, and took a breath: "Did you fry peanuts?"
"Um."
Su Zhiluo said, "I just bought it online, go and try it."
Liu Chengxu walked in wearing slippers. On the stove was a bamboo sieve filled with freshly roasted peanuts. She grabbed a small handful and spread it in her palm; they were still hot. With a gentle pinch between her thumb and forefinger, a crisp "snap" rang out as the peanut shells cracked open—it was her favorite crispy and slightly salty texture.
She put the peanut in her mouth, and when she came out, she found a gift box on the table.
Su Zhiluo said, "A gift for the beginning of winter."
Liu Chengxu dried his hands and went over to open it.
It was the limited edition figurine she had been longing for. When she was decorating her new home in S City, Su Zhiluo specially made two cabinets: one for books and the other for Liu Chengxu to display her precious figurines, Gundams, and Lego sets.
A while ago, Liu Chengxu secretly bought two cotton dolls. At first, Su Zhiluo didn't understand why, but upon closer inspection, she discovered that the dolls were actually custom-made to resemble the two of them.
Later, in her spare time, Su Zhiluo even sewed several little dresses for the doll herself.
Every time she went to check, she would find that Liu Chengxu had deliberately arranged the two dolls in a kissing pose, or even in more "mischievous" poses. At first, Su Zhiluo would just straighten them, both amused and exasperated. Then one day, she simply placed the doll representing Liu Chengxu underneath.
She thought to herself: This guy at home can be quite good at dating sometimes.
Liu Chengxu put the figurines into the study, and then casually arranged the two dolls in the position of him pressing down on Su Zhiluo and kissing her.
Su Zhiluo saw this and followed her in to rearrange the table—so that she was on top now. Liu Chengxu wrapped his arms around her waist and whispered in her ear, "Let's do it this way tonight."
Su Zhiluo's ears burned, and she gently patted the back of her hand: "Eat first."
Liu Chengxu smiled and kissed her cheek, but his arm remained wrapped around her. She nuzzled Su Zhiluo's hair and slowly repeated, "Okay, let's eat."
Liu Chengxu's voice became languid, making it exceptionally alluring.
Su Zhiluo couldn't help but turn around to look at her. She wore a black coat, had slightly wavy long hair, and exuded a cool yet alluring aura of a mature woman.
But the thought that this person was her clingy puppy in private made Su Zhiluo's heart melt.
She turned around and gently kissed Liu Chengxu's thin lips.
Liu Chengxu was delighted by her initiative, and naturally wrapped his arms around her waist, deepening the kiss. Their breaths mingled, their temperature rose, and they finally separated, panting, when Su Zhiluo gently pushed his shoulder away.
"Let's go eat." Su Zhiluo's breathing was still a little unsteady.
Liu Chengxu hummed in agreement, walked to the door but then turned back, took a medicine packet from the bag on the coat rack, and smelled a faint bitterness.
"Are you feeling unwell? Why did you buy this?" Su Zhiluo asked.
"Don't your legs often hurt in winter? It's damp and cold here, soaking them in the medicine pack will help." Liu Chengxu said as he walked towards the bathroom. "I'll dissolve it in warm water first, and you can soak them directly later."
Su Zhiluo followed, gently wrapping her arms around her waist from behind, and pressing her cheek against her shoulder.
Liu Chengxu paused, "What's wrong?"
“Cheng Xu,” Su Zhiluo said softly, “how do you always think of these things?”
Liu Chengxu felt a warmth in her heart, and the corners of her mouth unconsciously turned up. She turned around, her gaze falling on Su Zhiluo's eyes, and whispered, "Because I love you." She paused, then leaned closer to her ear and added with a smile, "Even more so because you are my wife."
Su Zhilu chuckled softly.
Su Zhiluo was instantly embarrassed by what she said. She hugged her for a while, kissed her on the cheek, and then hid in the kitchen.
A while ago, Chang Ruyin and Yang Jie went to Sichuan for a trip and sent her a few rabbits. One of them was a roasted rabbit. She took half of it and roasted it in the oven. The rice cake slices that Liu Chengxu brought back could also be put in, and the fresh rabbit meat was made into a hot pot.
Liu Chengxu took out some wine from the cabinet. Su Zhiluo could only drink rice wine. They filled their glasses, opened the living room curtains, and turned on the TV.
Liu Chengxu said, "It has a great atmosphere." She then moved to sit next to Su Zhiluo, who sprinkled seasoning on the rice cake slices and ate with her.
She held up her cup, and Liu Chengxu moved the cup closer to her.
The two cups clinked gently together, and Su Zhiluo said, "Happy Winter."
Happy Winter.
Liu Chengxu brought the rice cake slice to Su Zhiluo's lips, and she lowered her head and gently bit it.
The snow suddenly began to fall. At first, it was just a few scattered snowflakes, but then it began to fall in abundance, covering the windowpanes and turning into a hazy mist.
Su Zhilu nudged Liu Chengxu with her elbow, signaling her to look.
The wind picked up outside the window, swirling snowflakes diagonally. Inside, it was warm and cozy, completely keeping out the chill.
The things I said years ago have all come true.
No longer needing to fear the cold, they now have a large, warm house.
After finishing her meal, Su Zhilu put the dishes into the dishwasher. Liu Chengxu used to cook while she washed the dishes, but she really hated that chore, so she specifically bought a dishwasher when they renovated the house.
With the hassle of washing dishes gone, Su Zhiluo started cooking more often. Afterwards, she fed Nuannuan a cat treat.
Su Zhiluo took her pajamas to take a shower, and Liu Chengxu followed behind, asking, "Where are you going to spend the Spring Festival this year?"
"Traffic jams everywhere, why do we still want to go out?"
"Isn't your visa already approved? Go abroad, wherever you like."
Su Zhilu gently pushed her out: "I'm taking a shower, so you can come in too."
Liu Chengxu, as if he hadn't heard, forced his way in, stretching one leg out as far as he could, acting rather shamelessly. Su Zhiluo had no choice but to open the door.
The bathroom wasn't big and didn't have a bathtub, so Su Zhiluo bought a collapsible bathtub. Liu Chengxu adjusted the hot water and leaned against the door watching her change.
Su Zhiluo turned her back, her pajamas slipping down her shoulders to reveal a beautiful back. Liu Chengxu gazed at that waistline; Su Zhiluo's waist was slender and shapely from recent workouts, and her skin glowed with a delicate, radiant whiteness in the warm light.
I wanted to reach out and touch it.
Liu Chengxu squeezed toothpaste onto her toothbrush and brushed her teeth. Su Zhiluo ignored her and stepped into the bathtub. When Liu Chengxu finished brushing her teeth and leaned in to kiss her, Su Zhiluo had nowhere to hide in the water. Liu Chengxu cupped her face and kissed her deeply.
Su Zhiluo initially reciprocated, tentatively extending her tongue in response. Liu Chengxu had only intended to take it easy and then sit quietly watching her after they parted. But after only a moment of silence, he couldn't resist leaning in to kiss her again, as if he couldn't get enough of the kiss.
The cool mint flavor lingered on her lips, causing Su Zhiluo's breathing to become erratic. Her body reacted, feeling a slight swelling. She let out a muffled groan and pleaded softly, "Stop it... I'm still soaking in the medicinal bath."
That muffled voice sounded more like indulgence. Liu Chengxu felt a tickle in his heart and kissed her even deeper. Especially when he saw that he couldn't reach below the surface of the water, he reached down and dipped his fingertips into the warm water.
"How much longer do we need to soak it..." Liu Cheng asked, but then suddenly remembered the herbalist's instructions: about twenty minutes would be enough. She gently rubbed it with her fingertips, kissing it repeatedly.
"Don't do it, don't do it..." Su Zhiluo's breathing was slightly disordered. She turned her face away and breathed heavily, saying, "...It's full of medicine...be good."
Liu Chengxu felt even more upset after being coaxed by her a couple of times. He snuggled up to her and rubbed his face against hers, giving a muffled "hmm" that was hard to tell if he actually heard her.
Su Zhiluo really didn't want to; what if she accidentally swallowed the medicine while opening and closing her mouth? "Later."
Liu Chengxu reluctantly stepped back and said in a hoarse voice, "I'm going to take a shower."
"Um."
The sound of running water filled the bathroom; they weren't far apart, and could vaguely see each other. Twenty minutes later, Su Zhiluo got up to take a shower. Just as she stood under the showerhead, Liu Chengxu gently pressed her against the wall from behind.
"Hold on tight," a warm breath brushed against her ear, and Liu Chengxu's arms encircled her. She entered from behind and said, "I'm going to devour you."

I should be able to write about jealousy later on. I'm planning to write about "The Pseudo-Bone Feast" later. [Okay][Okay][Okay]
