Chapter 3: The Secret Under the Same Roof
When Liu Chengxu kissed her, he briefly touched her lips. They were very soft. She didn't dare to kiss too deeply, worried that her sister-in-law would find out.
Su Zhiluo's breath landed on her nostrils, hot, and a layer of sweat appeared on her forehead. It was just like a surge of passion, overwhelming and uncontrollable. She couldn't resist it. She had only tasted the edge before she felt hot.
Liu Chengxu stepped back a little and looked at her sister-in-law's lips again. They were very moist in the darkness. She leaned in and kissed her again.
If she could, Liu Chengxu wanted to kiss her for a long time, but it would be easy to be discovered, so she forced herself to separate. Su Zhiluo's lips were fuller and more swollen than before. That tempted her to kiss her more deeply. She rubbed the corner of her eye and squatted down by the bed.
She sensed something was wrong.
That tropical feeling was pulsating, originating from her legs.
This made her somewhat flustered.
As he climbed back onto his bed, he heard Su Zhiluo's sleepy voice behind him, "You're not asleep?"
Feeling guilty for being caught, Liu Chengxu panicked and clutched the bedsheet. She replied, "...I was just trying to wash my hands and tripped."
If Su Zhiluo asked one more question, she would say that she accidentally bumped her mouth. Su Zhiluo didn't reply, and Liu Chengxu didn't dare to continue the conversation. She went back to bed, put her finger to her lips, pressed it twice, and gently bit her finger.
My sister-in-law's lips have no taste.
But she felt sweet inside.
Liu Chengxu's heart pounded for a long time. She placed her hand on her lower abdomen and whispered, "Sister-in-law, I think I'm getting my period."
She didn't know how much time had passed when she heard the bed creak. Her sister-in-law turned over and turned her back to her. She had almost no sleep that night.
The next day was Sunday.
Liu Chengxu woke up immediately at the sound of movement from the bed next to his. Su Zhi hurriedly got off the bed. Liu Chengxu thought she was going to the bathroom. He rubbed his face a couple of times and got up. She put on her slippers and saw tissues on the bedside table.
The room was small and there was no trash can, so Liu Chengxu took it out to throw it away. As soon as he got to the living room, he heard the sound of water coming from the bathroom. Su Zhiluo pushed the door open and came out, still holding a wet piece of cloth in her hand.
The two exchanged a glance. Liu Chengxu called out "Sister-in-law" in a hoarse voice. Su Zhiluo's eyebrows twitched, and her gaze fell on Liu Chengxu's hand. When Liu Chengxu opened his eyes, she hummed in agreement and walked to the windowsill.
Liu Chengxu threw the tissue into the trash can and went into the bathroom to brush his teeth.
Su Zhilu hung up her underwear to dry, went to the bedroom, closed her eyes again, leaned against the door frame, and closed the door.
When two adult women live under the same roof, there are bound to be some unavoidable moments. Most of the time, the women won't feel too awkward, but because their relationship is special, some secrets that only they know about will happen.
Liu Chengxu came out of the bathroom, her face still wet. She asked in confusion, "What's wrong, sister-in-law?"
"It's nothing," Su Zhiluo said, her back to her.
Liu Chengxu said, "I didn't see any face cream."
"It's all used up, but there's a new pack in the cupboard."
Liu Chengxu turned back. Su Zhiluo had bought Yu Meijing cream, which was new. She squeezed out too much. She walked to Su Zhiluo's side, took half of it and put it on the back of her hand. She turned her hand over and helped Su Zhiluo rub the cream to melt it.
Su Zhiluo quickly withdrew her hand. She had a black apron tied around her waist, and then placed her hand behind her back. The back of her hand looked like it had been burned. Liu Chengxu stood behind her, still feeling guilty about what happened yesterday, and couldn't help but look for answers on Su Zhiluo's face.
Su Zhiluo picked up a condiment bottle, "I'll go do my part-time job after I eat today."
After Su Zhiluo added salt, she picked up a chopstick, dipped it in the soup, and tasted it. Liu Chengxu stole a few glances at Su Zhiluo, his gaze landing on her lips. Her red lips were moist, and her lip peaks were full. Su Zhiluo looked over, and she hurriedly looked away, going to the living room to sweep the floor and see what she could wash.
Su Zhiluo doesn't cook much. She often works late into the night and goes to work early in the morning, usually buying food from roadside stalls near the factory. After Liu Chengxu finished washing up, there was a tomato, egg, and lean pork noodle soup on the table. Su Zhiluo was picking at the ginger in her bowl with lard, which gave off a meaty aroma.
"Eat up, what are you standing there for?" Su Zhiluo looked at her.
"I just remembered that this was the first noodle I ate on my first morning here," Liu Chengxu said.
Su Zhiluo just smiled faintly and didn't take it to heart. At that time, Liu Chengxu had a serious princess complex. He was picky and choosy. He even gritted his teeth and wiped away tears in grievance because he ate raw ginger.
It turns out my sister-in-law had seen everything.
Liu Chengxu lowered his head and ate his noodles. "It smells delicious."
“Then your taste buds have become cheap,” Su Zhiluo said.
"ah?"
Su Zhiluo didn't explain further.
After dinner, Su Zhiluo asked her what time she started work.
Liu Chengxu answered truthfully that he would arrive at four o'clock in the afternoon.
Su Zhiluo said, "I finally got a day off and came back, but you didn't have much time to spend with me."
accompany?
Liu Chengxu's face flushed for a moment, and she asked, "Do you want me to come with you?"
Su Zhiluo: "I've been quite lonely since you left."
She then asked, "Where do you work?"
Liu Chengxu gave her the address: a tavern.
Su Zhilu frowned, "Selling wine?"
Liu Chengxu explained to her that Meng Zhenyue sang there, and she worked as a waitress. The two of them went to and from work together and never went to work alone. Also, the place was a music bar and didn't sell alcohol.
Su Zhiluo: "It's too late for you to go back. It's not safe. How long are you going to work?"
Liu Chengxu said, "I'm not going; my friend will be all alone."
Su Zhiluo put down her chopsticks and waited for her to finish eating before saying, "If you sing until 10 p.m., call me. Call me when you get to school too."
"good."
Su Zhiluo hadn't met Liu Chengxu's new friends much, so she asked a few more questions about their families, worried that Liu might be making the wrong friends.
Liu Chengxu answered one by one, "Don't worry, she is very independent. She supports herself through her studies. Her parents don't care much about her. She is also very warm-hearted. Before, she and her friends worked part-time at comic conventions. Since there were no positions available for me, they saw how hard I was working, so they switched to part-time jobs."
She said hopefully, "Sister-in-law, they are all working very hard, and they will definitely be very successful in the future."
In reality, many relationships end in separation, and many friendships drift apart over time. Su Zhiluo didn't discourage her, replying, "You're both from prestigious universities; your futures are limitless."
Liu Chengxu felt proud. "I'll take care of you from now on. When I have money, I'll give it all to you."
Su Zhiluo glanced at her and said, "You don't date, you don't get married, and you don't have children?"
Liu Chengxu knew in his heart that if he said he liked women, Su Zhiluo would probably try to avoid suspicion and think that it was inappropriate for the two of them to live in the same house.
"Then you can come along too..."
“I’m not going to be your mother-in-law,” Su Zhiluo said. “I want to live my own life.”
"Then you don't have me in your life?" Liu Chengxu looked at her with pitiful eyes, "We've depended on each other for so long."
Su Zhiluo smiled faintly but didn't answer. Liu Chengxu was still hoping for an answer from Su Zhiluo. Su Zhiluo put away the bowls and chopsticks, and Liu Chengxu reached out to take her bowl and held her hand. "Sister-in-law, is it really not me?"
"Who can say for sure what will happen in the future?" Su Zhiluo's answer was ambiguous, and Liu Chengxu couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness again. Su Zhiluo felt that she was about to cry, so she added, "We'll see when the time comes."
Liu Chengxu took the bowl to the kitchen.
Su Zhiluo leaned against the door frame and looked at her, pressing the corner of her eye.
Perhaps she was too tired, but she always felt that Liu Chengxu was like her older sister.
Su Zhiluo asked, "Did you get up in the middle of the night last night?"
The dishes were soaked with dish soap, and Liu Chengxu nearly dropped the bowl and smashed it. Her voice was still quite sore, "Yes, I'm going to the bathroom. I told you, what's wrong?"
Su Zhiluo asked, "I only remember you saying you had your period. You're still going to work a part-time job today? Aren't you going to take a day off?"
"No……"
"I was just saying, I just left, and you've only been gone for a little over half a month."
Su Zhiluo recalled what happened yesterday. As long as she walked up to Liu Chengxu, she could tell how guilty he was. Her finger kept circling in one spot.
Su Zhiluo asked, "Does your stomach hurt?"
Liu Chengxu has a cold constitution and suffers from menstrual cramps. Liu Chengxu hummed in response, not daring to delve deeper into the topic, "Did you wet anything this morning?"
Su Zhiluo was silent for half a minute before walking to the balcony. "Cup, get up and wave it up."
Liu Chengxu turned to look at his sister-in-law and whispered, "...I want to be with you forever, is that not allowed?"
About three or four minutes later, Su Zhi returned to the bedroom. Liu Chengxu's plate fell into the sink. Luckily, the sink was full of water, otherwise the bowl would have broken.
Liu Chengxu fished the plate out. What if she was discovered? Su Zhiluo would probably kick her out of the house.
Su Zhiluo would sometimes push her away, but this didn't mean she was cold-hearted. Rather, she was realistic and believed that Liu Chengxu would leave sooner or later, like migratory birds that build a nest when it's cold and fly away when it gets warm.
In the morning, Su Zhiluo wanted to take Liu Chengxu to buy two pieces of clothing, but Liu Chengxu said she didn't want to go out because she was tired and had to work in the evening. She lay on the bed.
Su Zhiluo thought it made sense. She had finally come back, and her legs would ache if she went out for a walk. So she fiddled with her phone. There was a weak Wi-Fi signal in the building. She didn't know whose it was. She had never seen anyone with Wi-Fi connected before. Su Zhiluo's internet speed was okay, so she put on a movie.
Liu Chengxu looked at her from next to her.
At first he didn't move, then he rested his head on her arm. Su Zhiluo tried to move away, but Liu Chengxu pressed down harder. Liu Chengxu said, "Sister-in-law, I really think you smell very good."
"The smell of shower gel," Su Zhiluo said. "I took a shower this morning."
"The weather isn't hot right now, why are you taking a shower this morning?"
Su Zhiluo didn't respond. The bed was small, and if she moved even slightly, she could kick Liu Chengxu off. Su Zhiluo didn't move, and Liu Chengxu didn't deliberately get close to her. Just because the bed was narrow, she was almost pressing against Su Zhiluo's chest.
The autumn heat made her body feel parched, and with her period just over, she was at the peak of her desire. Su Zhiluo would have a slight reaction, but she couldn't talk about this feeling and could only hide it.
Su Zhiluo dreamed about it yesterday. She was kissing Liu Jinhuan. Liu Jinhuan's lips and tongue were very soft, but his kiss was very awkward.
She was almost afraid to wake up, lest the dream disappear. As those lips sucked on her tongue, she could only open her mouth and let them kiss her, enduring the pain without responding. When she woke up, her body reacted. In the morning, she wiped herself with a tissue, but before she could take it out to throw it away, Liu Chengxu took it out...
That's so embarrassing.
Su Zhiluo remained quite restrained, making sure Liu Chengxu wouldn't suspect anything. Her sister-in-law was lying next to her; she couldn't let her know she was in a damp forest.
"Sister-in-law." Liu Chengxu rested her chin on her hand. She was taller than Su Zhiluo, as if she were holding Su Zhiluo in her arms. "Where does the fragrance come from?"
Su Zhiluo held her tongue, "Where?"
Liu Chengxu pointed to her chest, "The hollow of her collarbone."
Su Zhiluo's collarbone is beautiful, like a pair of small wings.
For lunch, they cooked porridge. After eating, the two of them took a nap in the bedroom. Liu Chengxu still went to Su Zhiluo's bed. She rarely came back, so it saved them from having to make more sheets. She lay on her side. She hadn't slept well the night before, and she was sleepy early. She was practically curled up in Su Zhiluo's arms.
Su Zhiluo's collarbone felt hot from her breath. Su Zhiluo flicked her hair and used the ends to cover one of her wings.
When Liu Chengxu woke up, no one was beside him. He pushed open the door and saw Su Zhiluo sleeping curled up on the tattered sofa outside. Liu Chengxu had slept in this spot before; when he first arrived, she hadn't fully grown and had to stay curled up. Su Zhiluo's skirt covered her hips, her long legs were bent, and her calves were dangling in the air.
Su Zhiluo woke up and rubbed her arm. "I'll take you there."
They didn't ride electric bikes when they went out; the two of them walked there. Su Zhiluo simply spent two yuan to accompany her into the subway. Liu Chengxu was sitting on a chair, and there was an empty seat next to her, but Su Zhiluo didn't sit down and instead held onto the handrail.
As the train got crowded, an aunt holding a child stood next to her. Liu Chengxu stood up to offer her his seat. The carriage swayed, and she grabbed the handrail, and the two of them held hands.
The next few sections had universities, so it was crowded. Su Zhiluo originally planned to get off here and transfer directly to the train back. But now a group of students were getting on, and it was so crowded that people were packed together, two people next to each other. The carriage was crowded, and Liu Chengxu said something, probably answering the previous question. Su Zhiluo didn't hear clearly. Su Zhiluo wanted to look at her, but at another stop, people got off and pushed her forward, and she bumped into Liu Chengxu's arms.
The journey was silent.
Because of the crowded carriage, Liu Chengxu got his wish and openly hugged his sister-in-law.
There weren't many people at the next stop, so Su Zhiluo said, "I'm getting off."
Liu Chengxu remained silent.
Su Zhiluo said, "Be careful, call us when you get to school."
"……Um."
Su Zhilu could have gotten off the bus on Liu Chengxu's side, but when she tried to move down, the crowd was so dense that she was blocked back, and she stayed on until the last stop.
Su Zhiluo sighed deeply and rubbed her arms gently.
Liu Chengxu got off the car and ran all the way to the tavern.
Meng Zhenyue was adjusting the microphone when she saw Liu Chengxu panting. She beckoned to Liu Chengxu, who then went over to help her with the microphone. When the supervisor came over, he told her to ask for her help, because if she was late for work, the first hour would be wasted.
Liu Chengxu was in low spirits. Meng Zhenyue asked her a couple of questions, but she didn't answer. After the supervisor left, Liu Chengxu went to change her clothes by herself.
Meng Zhenyue didn't get off work until 11 p.m. She was tired from singing, so she bought a bottle of water to drink. There were a lot of song requests today, and Meng Zhenyue received a 300 yuan tip. Someone asked her if she wanted to have a late-night snack.
Liu Chengxu was absent-minded. Meng Zhenyue bought two bags of fried chicken strips and gave one to her. Liu Chengxu said, "I need to go back."
"Go back? Will we make it in time?"
"Yes, my sister-in-law is home alone. She said she's quite lonely. I'll go back and stay with her for one more night. I can catch the last subway."
"Then you go first." Meng Zhenyue handed her the chicken strips and took the subway back to school. It was close to the school, and she could get there in half an hour.
"Then tell me when you get to the dorm." Liu Chengxu finished speaking and rushed back. She and Meng Zhenyue shared a seat. At the last subway stop, she texted her sister-in-law: [I'm almost there.]
Su Zhiluo, who wasn't asleep: [Get some rest.]
Liu Chengxu was holding flowers in her arms. The flower shop was closed at night and was offering a discount. She got home at midnight, wanting to surprise her sister-in-law. She opened the door carefully, placed the flowers on the ground, locked the door, and went to the bedroom.
That's what it's like when two people live together; their privacy is exposed to the other person's view and ears.
Liu Chengxu stopped pushing the door open. Through the door, she heard a very low, suppressed sound, like pain and pleasure, very restrained.
If you're not very close, you can barely hear it, and it might cut off at any moment.
She saw it through the crack.
It was the sister-in-law who was suppressing the rising tide of emotion.
