Chapter 7: You like your sister-in-law, don't you?
Feeling the softness of his abdomen against his lips, Liu Chengxu separated them, then placed his fingers on the spot he had kissed, gently stroking it.
So soft. She placed her palm on it and was instantly enveloped in a sense of security. She couldn't control her greed and wanted to hug Su Zhiluo's waist and press herself tightly against her.
Liu Chengxu poked a hole in the blanket with her finger and looked up. She could vaguely see Su Zhiluo's brows furrowed. Liu Chengxu quickly crawled out of the blanket and met Su Zhiluo's shocked gaze. She stammered, "Sister-in-law, your waist is so flexible."
Now it was Su Zhiluo's turn to be speechless. Kissing the abdomen was an extremely intimate and private act. She remained silent for a long time, her eyes swirling with emotions, her expression complex and unreadable.
Liu Chengxu panicked and said with an awkward laugh, "At first, I couldn't believe it when I rubbed against it, so I rubbed against it a couple more times."
"oh……"
Su Zhiluo's voice was terribly hoarse when she spoke.
Liu Chengxu felt even more guilty, like a thief caught red-handed. The more she spoke, the more clumsy she became, "I was just... curious."
Liu Chengxu, who was already short of breath due to oxygen deprivation, broke out in a sweat after just a few words. The two were facing each other, their eyes locked. Su Zhiluo paused for a moment, then her lips moved slightly: "Why did you crawl inside to sleep? Isn't it stuffy?"
“You were curled up all night, so I crawled in to warm your legs and make them feel less stuffy. I made a hole so you can breathe.”
"Oh... okay, then get up." Su Zhiluo tried to get up first, but her knee accidentally brushed against Liu Chengxu's thigh. The two of them froze. Liu Chengxu reacted first, threw off the covers and got out of bed. She went to the bathroom in her pajamas.
As soon as the door opened, she shivered from the cold. Su Zhiluo called out to her, "Put your coat on."
"Sister-in-law, it's snowing heavily outside, everything is white."
Su Zhiluo propped her chin up and sat up against the headboard. There had been a few snowfalls this winter, but none of them were heavy, leading many to believe there wouldn't be any major snowfall. Su Zhiluo looked down at her lower abdomen. She lifted her clothes, but immediately pulled her fingers back as soon as she touched it. It was so itchy, and Liu Chengxu's kisses made it even itchier.
She rubbed herself hard twice, picked up her coat, put it on, and went outside. It was a snowy wonderland, and the whole house was brightly lit by the snow. A chill seeped into the house, and she shivered. She hung Liu Chengxu's coat on the doorknob and said, "Put it on quickly when you're done."
"Know."
Liu Chengxu washed his face with cold water, believing that as long as he remained calm, those actions would be unintentional.
The bathroom was chilly. Liu Chengxu opened the door a crack and reached for the cotton-padded coat hanging outside. Through the narrow gap, she saw Su Zhiluo standing by the window, carefully carrying potted succulents into the room. The plump potted plants were covered with a thin layer of white snow.
Su Zhiluo was most afraid that the gardenia would freeze to death. This summer, she used a plastic bucket from the construction site to fill with soil and planted one of the plants. It grew into a large pot, and when winter is over and it blooms, the whole house will be fragrant.
Su Zhiluo held her phone between her shoulder and ear. She didn't know who was calling her. She replied, "My husband Liu Chengxu is back. I don't have time to go over."
After finishing the call, Su Zhiluo went inside to wash up. She moved slowly, while Liu Chengxu nervously rubbed his hands outside.
The two went to the market together. Liu Chengxu loved to eat fish heads, so Su Zhiluo bought two bighead carp heads and two pieces of old tofu.
Water chestnuts are fresh this season, so Su Zhiluo bought three catties for her to eat as fruit. When she got back, she saw chestnuts and bought a bag to make roasted chestnuts with sugar. She asked Liu Chengxu what else he wanted to eat, "I'll make it for you. It's almost Chinese New Year, so let's prepare more and have a good New Year."
Liu Chengxu pointed to two dishes he wanted to eat: meat sausage and Chinese sausage. Su Zhiluo bought some first, thinking of telling Aunt Zhang, and then going to the market to buy about 20 jin of pork ribs for herself. She learned to marinate them herself and store them in the refrigerator. Liu Chengxu would chop one rib whenever he wanted to eat them.
They were both covered in snow, and the two helped each other brush it off downstairs. When they got home, Su Zhiluo stewed the fish head while it was still fresh.
The dish consisted of pickled cabbage, fish, and tofu, with only a few side dishes. The main purpose was to encourage Liu Chengxu to eat more fish heads to improve his brain function, based on the principle of "like cures like."
The two sat around the pot of boiling water, and Liu Chengxu served Su Zhiluo some food, saying, "Sister-in-law, you should eat too."
"Hmm." Su Zhiluo looked away, her gaze unconsciously lingering on Liu Chengxu's face.
Liu Chengxu discovered it all, but dared not make a sound.
Su Zhiluo smiled and said, "You and your sister look very alike."
"oh."
"Really?" Liu Chengxu was about to agree, thinking that if it seemed so, it would be a good opportunity to get along with her through her sister's identity. But then he couldn't help but add, "...There are also different ones. You'll find out if you take a closer look."
Su Zhiluo picked up the shark fin and placed it on her plate, then looked at Liu Chengxu while holding her chopsticks.
Liu Chengxu didn't look young; her features were very defined, and her eyes, like stars reflected in a cold pool, were clear yet tinged with a hazy melancholy. Her profile was clean and sharp, and her lips were a pale red, adding a touch of coolness to her otherwise plain face. Perhaps it was her height, but she always seemed more mature than her peers.
Su Zhiluo couldn't resist pinching her cheek, afraid that she wouldn't be able to pinch it anymore when she got older.
Su Zhiluo lowered her head and ate her fish. "I have to go to the factory after I finish eating. I've already taken two days off. If I take any more, my supervisor will scold me."
Liu Chengxu nodded, "I'll wait for Meng Zhenyue to leave her job and then go with her to check out the educational institutions."
After dinner, Su Zhiluo went out with her bag. Liu Chengxu told her to wait. She went back to her room and got a few packs of hand warmers. She squatted down in front of Su Zhiluo and started to roll up her trouser legs. Her fingers touched Su Zhiluo's ankles, and Su Zhiluo shrank back. She half-squatted and said, "I can do it myself. Your hands are too cold, they're freezing me."
Liu Chengxu touched his face. "It's really cold."
She handed it to Su Zhiluo, who rolled up her trouser legs and stuck them to her thermal pants, asking, "When did you buy these? How come I didn't know?"
"I went to buy the food while you cooked." Liu Chengxu unzipped her handbag and put the other two items in it. "Remember to change into them if it's not too hot at noon."
"Okay." Su Zhiluo straightened her trousers and casually tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "It's too cold today because of the snow. Have fun at home."
She added, "I hope you can enjoy your university life to the fullest, so that others can reminisce about their wonderful university years in the future. I don't want you to be so tired."
Upon hearing this, Liu Chengxu's eyes welled up with tears. Su Zhiluo was at a loss for words. She never expected that the stubborn little hedgehog from childhood would grow up to be such a crybaby.
Cheng Xu followed her like a puppy, and Su Zhiluo, wearing a helmet, straddled the electric scooter. At first, she couldn't concentrate on riding, constantly thinking about Liu Cheng Xu kissing her stomach.
Liu Chengxu must consider her his closest person. That's why he does these intimate things, and that's why he doesn't set boundaries...
Su Zhiluo let out a heavy sigh.
Liu Chengxu met with Meng Zhenyue in the afternoon. The two had arranged to meet today to look for a tutoring institution together, starting at the place Aunt Zhang had recommended. It was a small agency, not very big, and the decor wasn't as upscale as advertised. Most of the people there were college students, and many were outside making phone calls to invite people over for interviews.
They went straight to the room to talk as soon as they entered. They were asked to write down their ID numbers, but neither of them did, which they both found strange. Normally, leaving a phone number would have been enough.
The two women both thought it was a scam, so they went to two more places and finally found a seemingly legitimate institution that specialized in providing educational tutoring for the children of wealthy families. The walls were covered with pictures of famous teachers in suits.
The agent recommended two areas to them. Liu Chengxu's was closer to home, but the salary was slightly lower. Meng Zhenyue's was higher, but the client's child lived in a villa, which was far from the school.
The agent kept boasting, saying, "See those famous teachers posted on the wall outside? They specialize in tutoring children from wealthy families. The one who recently won the gold medal received a 30,000 yuan reward from her parents, and we'll also give her a 5,000 yuan reward. Don't underestimate how little you get; after graduation, you'll start with a high-paying job here."
Meng Zhenyue looked at the wall and indeed saw a photo of a long-haired girl. She asked, "Won't the parents say anything if you put up her photo like this?"
The agent laughed, "They must have put it up secretly, and the parents won't be there in person; their secretaries will come."
This time, they didn't need to sign anything, just leave their phone numbers. The agency and the parents had a contract, and all they had to do was collect the money.
After confirming the interview time with the parents, the two of them came out and whispered to each other, Meng Zhenyue said in a low voice, "Those things on the wall are probably just marketing. Those wealthy families would definitely not let their children be displayed on the walls of these real estate agencies."
"We'll leave after two months. With this experience, we can find other jobs ourselves. We'll definitely earn more than from the profit-sharing arrangement. We'll gain some experience."
"That's what I think too."
The two of them had their own agendas. They were willing to accept lower prices, thinking that once they found a way, they could take on the business themselves without having to go through the profit-sharing process.
The next day, Liu Chengxu went for the interview and was very successful. One of the little girls she taught, a fourth grader, was very obedient and polite. Liu Chengxu sent a message to Su Zhiluo after settling the matter.
Liu Chengxu would go to teach for two hours in the morning, then go home to cook dinner. She would ride her bike to deliver the food to the factory gate, where her sister-in-law would come out to collect it before she went to make up for her afternoon classes.
Every time Su Zhiluo received the thermos from her sister, she would smile. Several times, her colleagues would say, "Zhiluo, your sister brought you food again."
Su Zhiluo's factory canteen is outsourced, and the food is charged by weight. Even a small portion can easily cost more than ten yuan. She usually eats very frugally, and her plate always has only a few kinds of vegetables.
Liu Chengxu noticed this and always wanted to fatten her up. She cooked different dishes every day, making each meal very lavish.
She loved this kind of life. Even when she was riding her bike to deliver food in the winter and the wind was biting, she felt incredibly happy as long as she saw Su Zhiluo eating with satisfaction.
Su Zhiluo's holiday started late, on New Year's Eve. Liu Chengxu picked her up from get off work that night, shivering from the cold, and chatted with her about how he saw a truck selling radishes and cabbages in the countryside when he got home from get off work that day. He bought half a bag of them, planning to pickle the radishes with sugar water and pickled peppers to make a cold dish, and pickle the cabbages to make sauerkraut, all for Su Zhiluo on Saturday and Sunday.
I ran into Yang Jie a few times.
Liu Chengxu didn't like her and always gave her the cold shoulder.
On the eve of the holiday, Liu Chengxu went to pick up Su Zhiluo. She stood quietly under the streetlight in front of the security booth and waited for her, but Liu Chengxu coldly ignored her.
Not long after, Yang Jie came out and stopped by the security booth. She said to Liu Chengxu, "Can we talk? Last time, your sister-in-law told me that you are at a crucial stage in your university life and can't be with me."
Upon hearing this, Liu Chengxu raised his head slightly, reminding her that she had better have some self-awareness.
Yang Jie said, "I also told your sister-in-law that it's okay, I can wait for her for four years."
Liu Chengxu was stunned. Yang Jie continued, "Your sister-in-law is a very good person. I want to be with her, take care of her, and make things easier for her. I don't mind you, so you can rest assured."
Yang Jie spoke very eloquently. Liu Chengxu occasionally overheard Su Zhiluo and Chang Ruyin talking on the phone and knew some things about them. Yang Jie had relatives in the factory and worked in the research and development lab, and had helped Su Zhiluo a lot.
In a sense, Yang Jie treated Su Zhiluo very well. They were of similar age, and most importantly, their parents did not object. Yang Jie was also financially independent.
Liu Chengxu made no attempt to hide his hostility, glancing at her and saying, "No need, my sister-in-law doesn't like you."
Yang Jie looked directly at her and asked, "You simply don't want me to be with your sister-in-law, and those words were just excuses, right?"
Liu Chengxu did not evade the question and answered decisively, "I will treat my sister-in-law well, you don't need to worry about it."
Yang Jie said, "Your family is really going too far. They came to scold her before, and then dumped you on your sister-in-law. No one would do such a thing. And you want to tie her down for life. It's a bit... Your family came to the factory and put up banners. Everyone in the factory knows that. They're really despicable."
Liu Chengxu realized that he was being insulted as well, so he frowned and said, "I have no relation to my family. I will study hard in college and have a bright future so that I can give my sister-in-law a good life."
He seemed like a very filial person. Yang Jie carefully observed Liu Chengxu, took a step forward, and whispered, "You like your sister-in-law, don't you?"
