Chapter 20 020

Chapter 20 020

The Four Books and Five Classics, along with nine strategic supernatural abilities held by China for over three thousand years, are said to be responsible for 60% of China's dominance.

The existence of the Four Books and Five Classics is no secret—as the UN's information network reveals, the Five Classics are: the "Book of Changes," the strongest among those capable of predicting the future; the "Spring and Autumn Annals," which can record all the information of half of China; and the "Book of Documents," which can extract, store, and reuse superpowers from the bodies of superpowered individuals.

There is also "poetry," which can soothe people's hearts through sound; and the most unique of the Five Classics, the "Book of Rites."

The special ability of the "Book of Rites" is to ensure that the political systems, etiquette, morality, or legal provisions recorded on it, which are recognized by the user, are fully observed.

The effects are similar to hypnosis or suggestion, and the user is often stationed in the highest political institutions.

—Forget about the nonsense about whether the rulers are happy or not. The first rule of the "Book of Rites" is that users can freely enter and exit any political institution but cannot access confidential documents.

The possibility of a user of the "Book of Rites" turning against the author is almost zero. The "Book of Rites" is passively triggered, and the user is already within the scope of its function. There is a complete set of moral and legal regulations that restrict the user of the "Book of Rites," which are recorded in the "Book of Rites."

The Book of Changes, the Spring and Autumn Annals, the Book of Documents, and the Book of Poetry all rely on additional means outside of established systems to protect national stability. The Book of Rites is the only one that uses an extraordinary ability to maintain internal stability.

Modern people believe that the Book of Rites alone accounts for 50% of the 100% of the functions of the Five Classics.

However, there is not much information circulating about the Four Books in the myriad worlds. Apart from the confirmed origins of the Five Classics and the fact that Confucius's extraordinary ability, "The Analects," is a "superpower that creates extraordinary abilities," the Four Books remain unknown. But it is certain that all of them are extraordinary abilities that work towards the highest ideal of "bringing peace to the world."

However, this wish was not fulfilled in ancient times due to the limited scope of the Four Books and Five Classics; what was fulfilled, however, was "governing the country".

China, which has inherited and continuously utilized the Four Books and Five Classics through the "Book of Documents" to strengthen itself, is known in the world as the "Nation of Supernatural Abilities" and is one of the most friendly countries to people with supernatural abilities.

In fact, due to the connection between the "Book of Documents" and the "Analects," China is also the country with the most people with supernatural abilities in the world.

Christie and Romain Rolland inadvertently started debating again about whether China's policy on managing supernatural abilities was reasonable. They only stopped when Vargrave, unable to bear it any longer, intervened.

Christie, who was having a pleasant conversation, took a sip of tea, looking rather annoyed at being interrupted, and looked again at the list of criminals with supernatural abilities compiled by Romain Rolland.

"Regardless of whether we assume the information provided by the *I Ching* is entirely correct, then... Roland, when did the signposts appear in the original prophecy?"

Romain Rolland's brow was so furrowed that it could have trapped several flies.

"Because of the tight schedule at the time, I couldn't look at it in detail. I can only confirm that it will appear in Yokohama within the next three months—this month and the following two months—as a wanted criminal, characterized by the 'human tiger' I described to you before. I didn't see any more details."

He was interrupted before he could deduce the origin of the "human-tiger".

Christie, holding the criminal form, also looked unhappy.

"The last criminal with supernatural abilities this month has nothing to do with Tiger... I think this one is called Yaksha?"

Christie pointed to the "Izumi Kyoka" at the bottom of the table and the attached photo of the supernatural ability "Yasha Shirayuki".

"It doesn't seem to have anything to do with tigers at all."

“Indeed.” Verne, who had somehow gotten close, stood to Christie’s side and peered at the documents in her hand. “Regardless of which, it has absolutely nothing to do with tigers.”

"I originally thought that a superpower with such a distinctive and common tiger-like feature would be easy to find, but I didn't expect to find no information at all."

Romain Rolland, who was scribbling in a small notebook with a mechanical pencil, scratched his head with the pen: "There are two possibilities now. One is that we are simply too early and the tiger has not yet appeared and we have to wait until next month; the second is that the existence of the tiger has been deliberately concealed by some organization."

Either possibility is unfavorable to UN, because proving either possibility would take a lot of time.

What the UN lacks most is time.

Leaving aside the fact that almost every member of the UN is a wanted criminal in their respective countries—including a notorious figure like Vladimir, who is wanted relentlessly by Russia—the sheer number of crimes committed by the UN itself is enough to warrant the involvement of law enforcement agencies from various nations.

If you dare to stay in one place for too long after showing yourself, you will be surrounded and attacked.

If it were just Romain Rolland, Cervantes, and Pu Songling who were exposed by the Port Mafia, it wouldn't matter. But the mess Vladimir made is truly enormous.

He and Motojiro Kawai basically blew up a street, and incidentally destroyed all the glass structures of the buildings on both sides of the road.

It would be strange if the government didn't know about such a major event.

The three of them couldn't help but glance at Vladimir, who was (pretending) to sob because of the budget cuts.

"Waaaaah T^T"

Oh, that seems quite sincere.

They were probably mourning the loss of their easy money opportunities.

The three men once again ignored Vladimir and began talking about themselves.

This time, it was Verne who started the conversation: "How about we leave first and then come back in three months?"

"I'm afraid that won't work. Even with Roland there, the information will definitely not be in place. Besides, a month may not even be the end of the government's vigilance period."

"What if we use a reward as a means?"

"I'm afraid that won't work. We might not have enough funds, and firstly, during this period of heightened vigilance, loudly proclaiming our goals could easily turn into us competing with the government for people, which would be counterproductive."

"If we stay here... Vladimir has already alerted the government. Although theoretically, given the Nautilus's maneuverability, it could remain undetected for three months, but..."

"No need to say anything more, I'd be giving them too much credit if these guys in the organization could keep quiet for a week."

"Since that's the case...blblbl...then...blblbl..."

"But...blblbl...if that's the case...blblbl..."

After arguing and brainstorming for so long, the three of them were all a little dizzy and confused.

Wagrave then offered him some mints.

With a mint in her mouth, letting the unique aroma of mint accompany the cool sensation, Christie suddenly had a peculiar idea.

“Gentlemen, perhaps we should consider this from a different perspective.” Christie, now sitting up straight, looked at Romain Rolland and Jules Verne, who were frowning in thought. “The ‘signposts’ are simply there to make it easier to find the ‘books,’ aren’t they?”

What Romain Rolland learned from the "I Ching" was not a mandatory requirement, but rather the most convenient way to find the requirement based on the "I Ching".

The Book of Changes (Zhouyi) deduced the location of the "Book" and even found the "signposts" leading to that location.

This means that "road signs" are not a necessity, but a shortcut.

So... if there are shortcuts, doesn't that mean we can reach our destination by taking the main road without relying on shortcuts?

"If we know the book is in Yokohama, then... there's more than just road signs to find it, isn't there?"
