Chapter 97 097 The Prank Master

Chapter 97 097 The Prank Master

A little earlier, Barry, carrying the huge suitcase he had just stolen, was wandering around the Yokohama waters with Exupé, hoping for a stroke of luck.

Then, during a long explanation by Barry (whom he himself didn't understand but had heard Verne mention) of theories such as "the distortion marks left by massive objects undergoing spatial transfer," the two time-manipulation ability users suddenly sensed something at a certain moment.

The space around them... or to put it more dramatically, the small dimension they inhabited seemed to have a problem.

Barry and Exupé exchanged a glance, quite certain that this was the phenomenon Barry Verne had mentioned before.

These two guys, who deal with time all year round, have developed a perception ability that is very different from that of ordinary people. Phenomena that can only be detected by large equipment are as easy for them as instinct.

Then, Barry flew around the beluga whale several times in five seconds to check its size, took out a comb to tidy itself up in three seconds, took the large box from Exupé, and finally made a knocking motion while smiling, waiting for the beluga whale's reaction.

The elites inside the White Whale quickly discovered Barry outside the White Whale; Fitzgerald was truly audacious, letting Barry in despite knowing they were currently hostile to the UN.

Barry and Exupé walked confidently into the beluga whale, then looked around curiously.

An ordinary employee belonging to the group was temporarily sent over because he was the closest and needed to hold out for a while while Hawthorne arrived.

An ordinary employee who was innocently implicated: There's a swear word I don't know whether I should say or not.

The employee, who had been promised a bonus, forced a smile: "Gentlemen, our base might be a bit complicated inside. Please allow me to show you the way..."

Barry tilted his head and looked at the employee in front of him, his undisguised malice making the person opposite him break out in a cold sweat.

Standing behind Barry, Exupé thought for a moment, then tilted his head and looked at the poor employee, just like Barry did.

Ordinary employees: ...

If the salary wasn't high, who would want to do this job?

"Um...excuse me..."

Before the employee could finish speaking, Barry interrupted him: "Excuse me, could you wait a moment?"

Barry's voice had barely reached the employee's ears when, before the employee could react, a rapidly moving afterimage was reflected on his retina.

The employees were speechless as they watched Barry leave.

If it runs away like that, does that mean my bonus is gone...? Speaking of which, why did it run so fast that it didn't even cause any wind pressure, let alone damage the corridor?

—Because Barry actually covered the area with a spherical "Neverland" and then accelerated time to walk at a normal pace.

While from an outside perspective, the refraction of light outside Neverland does create large afterimages, Barry's movement speed is normal, so there's no excessive momentum or wind pressure due to high speed.

Neverland - Walk Carefully! (Heavy Fog)

Only Exupé, who was still confused about the situation, remained in place, continuing to tilt his head and look at the employee in front of him, just like Barry.

Although Exupé seemed dull and lacked the intimidating aura of Barry, the ordinary, powerless employees still dared not move an inch.

Fortunately, this stalemate did not last long.

About ten seconds later, Barry's voice came from behind the employee who was as stiff as a statue.

"Alright, Exupéry, let's ignore him and go."

When he reappeared, Barry had somehow produced a hat and put it on his head in just over ten seconds. He was holding an ice bucket with several bottles of Coke in his left hand and eating a crudely made hamburger made from ingredients he had haphazardly put together himself in his right hand.

The employee who turned around: ...No, what were you doing for just a few seconds?

"As expected of this group, they are very wealthy and have prepared everything in this base."

With a wave of his left hand, the ice bucket that Barry was holding detached from his hand and floated beside him. At the same time, a bottle of Coke flew out of the ice bucket, separated from the cap halfway, and landed in Barry's hand.

The employee's back was soaked with cold sweat as he watched Barry tilt his head back, seemingly oblivious to everyone else, and down a whole bottle in one gulp.

Barry, who had downed a bottle of Coke in one gulp, sighed contentedly and continued, "And you know, you guys are really the first to let me into the base so easily."

Several fuses, controlled by Barry, fell to the feet of Hawthorne, who stood behind him with a grim expression.

That was part of the Beluga air defense system, the fuses for those anti-aircraft missiles.

Having eaten and drunk his fill, Barry turned around with satisfaction: "So, can I go see your boss now?"

Hawthorne's gaze swept over Barry with the sharpness of a knife. However, being at his mercy, he could only grit his teeth, turn around, and silently lead the way.

Barry, who had gained the upper hand, didn't care about Hawthorne's anger at all. Instead, he followed behind Hawthorne with a grin, and even provocatively opened another bottle of Coke and drank it happily.

An out of sorts: Hey, didn't Roland always forbid Barry from eating junk food? Isn't this a bit much?

Torn between whether or not to remind Barry, Exupéry followed behind the two men with a worried expression. After much deliberation, he ultimately decided not to voice his doubts.

Barry, who was laughing happily in front of him, was unaware that Exupéry had almost exposed his secret. He continued to tease Hawthorne with his own mischievous humor, making Hawthorne's veins throb with anger.

"arrive!"

Enraged, Hawthorne turned around at the captain's cabin door, his face practically screaming, "Hurry up, or do you want me to kick you in?"

Barry, seemingly oblivious to Hawthorne's murderous glare, casually tossed the empty ice bucket aside. The bucket, along with the empty bottle inside, spun twice on the ground before coming to a stop without falling over.

Barry sauntered into the room carrying a large suitcase that was half his height. Exupéry followed slowly behind. Hawthorne watched the two UN representatives enter the room with a sour expression before following them in, and even closed the door behind him.

Fitzgerald, dressed in an elegant suit, sat at the head of the table in the room. His secretary, Alcott, stood beside him, while the various ability users, who served as the main fighting force of the group, were scattered around the room in different poses.

Standing in the middle of the house, between Fitzgerald and UN, is Loft, the strongest member of the group.

Near the door, standing almost imperceptibly beside the potted plants, was Steinbeck. Hawthorne quickly stopped next to Steinbeck after entering.

Closest to Fitzgerald and furthest from Barry and Exupéry were Mark Twain and Mitchell, two ability users who preferred a longer range, sitting in front of the office.

Barry walked in and said, "Wow - this is a bit too much."

Of the group's high-ranking ability users, all but Edgar Allan Poe, the group's intellectual powerhouse, and Melville, who has no fighting ability except for the white whale, are now present.

Exupé's focus differed from Barry's; Barry was more concerned with how to counter the combination. Exupé, however, was completely absorbed by Loft.

For some reason, Loft gave Exupé a very peculiar feeling, just as... the "person" in front of him also transcended time.

However, that feeling was incomplete, as if it were being deliberately suppressed and was unstable.

Loftloft noticed Exupé's gaze and turned to look at him as well.

Exupéry: Stare—

Loftloft: Stare—

Two oddballs, completely out of place in human society, suddenly started a staring contest. (Just kidding!)

Since neither of their human guardians (Barry & Steinbeck: ...) were available, the two were not stopped for the time being, and it seemed that they intended to continue like this.

On the slightly more normal side, Barry and Fitzgerald exchanged a series of meaningless pleasantries before finally getting down to business.

Fitzgerald's patience in negotiations, as a business tycoon, was beyond the reach of ordinary people. Barry was already so frustrated that he was about to roll his eyes, but he was still full of energy: "So, where is our person who accidentally clashed with your side?"

"Oh right, there's this one too."

Barry blinked and raised the huge suitcase in his hand.

"Most of your Montgomery's bodily tissues are here, and we have handled them properly to ensure that the burial will not damage the facade of the burial complex—"

Before Barry could finish speaking, Neverland instantly appeared around him, blocking the attacks coming from all directions.
