Chapter 10: A New Mission

A New Mission

After Lin Yu, Suna, and Lao Chen successfully sealed the demon on Wawu Mountain, the afterglow of the setting sun cast a long shadow over them. However, their steps seemed unusually heavy, and they slowly began their journey home, dragging their exhausted bodies.

The three of them remained silent throughout the journey, their gazes wandering, as if they were still immersed in the thrilling battle they had just witnessed. The eerie and terrifying scene of Wawu Mountain lingered in their minds, and every detail was like a sharp thorn, deeply embedded in their memories.

Back at the 749th Bureau, they were greeted with enthusiastic applause and cheers from their colleagues. However, Lin Yu, Su Na, and Lao Chen didn't show much joy on their faces; their eyes revealed deep worry and fatigue.

The lights in the conference room seemed pale and cold. Lin Yu sat in his chair, his brow furrowed, like a silent mountain. His fingers unconsciously tapped lightly on the table, making a monotonous and dull sound.

"Although we've resolved the crisis at Wawu Mountain, I always feel like this is just the beginning." His voice was low and hoarse, as if squeezed from the depths of his throat. Every word carried a heavy weight. "That dark power, that eerie atmosphere, keeps me feeling uneasy." His mind kept flashing back to the mists of Wawu Mountain, the hideous sight of the strange bird, and the sinister face of the dark wizard.

Suna sat beside him, her hands clasped tightly together. Her face was pale, her eyes filled with unease. "I feel the same way, Lin Yu. Those mysterious powers and evil presences don't seem to disappear easily. Back in Wawu Mountain, I sensed a deeper fear lurking beneath the surface, like a pair of eyes constantly watching us from the darkness." Her voice trembled slightly, as if she could still feel the chill.

Old Chen placed his hands folded on the table, his gaze deep and solemn. "We must be prepared to face greater challenges. This victory may only be temporary; perhaps we've only touched the tip of the iceberg." His heart was filled with worry. Remembering the dangers he had encountered on Wawu Mountain, he knew the road ahead might be even more difficult.

Just then, the door to the conference room slowly opened, and the director walked in. His face was serious, and his steps were heavy, as if he was carrying a heavy burden on his shoulders. After entering the conference room, he gently closed the door, and the slight sound of the door closing was particularly loud in the silent room.

"Comrades, you have performed very well in Wawu Mountain. But as you worried, new problems have emerged." The director's voice broke the silence in the room. He placed a thick document on the table. The cover of the document was printed with two big red words "Confidential".

"Similar mysterious incidents have occurred in other places, and they seem to be related in some way." The director's eyes swept over Lin Yu, Su Na, and Lao Chen. "There may be a huge conspiracy behind these incidents."

Lin Yu quickly picked up the document and eagerly flipped through it. His eyes quickly scanned the contents, his brow furrowing with each line. "This... the situation is more complicated than we imagined." His voice was filled with shock and disbelief. "The mysterious phenomena in these places all have similar characteristics. Could it be that the same force is at work?"

Suna leaned over and looked at the pictures and text on the document. Her face turned even paler. "Director, what should we do next?" Her voice was filled with anxiety and nervousness.
