The Truth Comes to Light
Just as the man was about to pounce on the crowd, a flash of determination flashed in Lin Yu's eyes. His muscles instantly tensed, and he launched a powerful kick, striking the man's chest with a sharp, unerring whistling sound. The man groaned and fell heavily to the ground like a rag doll, raising a cloud of dust. However, he didn't rise to attack again. Instead, he curled up into a ball, as if terrified, his body trembling constantly and emitting a low, whimpering sound.
"What's going on?" Su Na's eyes widened, her voice filled with confusion and fear. She hid behind Lin Yu, sticking half of her head out, staring intently at the person curled up on the ground.
Lin Yu approached cautiously, shining the light from his phone directly on the man's face. Under the light, his face looked pale and distorted. His eyes were closed, his brows furrowed, and his facial muscles twitched constantly. Lin Yu noticed that his eyes were dull, as if he had lost his soul. He was still mumbling something in a low, unclear voice.
"He seems mentally unstable," Lin Yu said, his voice remarkably clear in the quiet room. His brow furrowed, his heart filled with confusion and worry. "But why is he here? And why is he attacking us?" he pondered silently.
Everyone gathered around, with a look of nervousness and curiosity on their faces. They tried to hear what the man was saying, and listened attentively.
"Zombies...ancient town...curse..." The man spoke vaguely, his voice intermittent, as if coming from a distant place.
Lin Yu frowned, his eyes narrowed. "It seems he knows some secrets about this ancient town." His heartbeat quickened involuntarily, and a sense of foreboding came over him. "If there really is a curse, then we must find out the truth as soon as possible, otherwise the consequences will be disastrous," he thought secretly.
After some comforting, the man's mood gradually stabilized. His breathing became less rapid and his body trembling lessened.
"Can you tell us what happened?" Lin Yu asked softly, his voice gentle and patient, as if he was coaxing a frightened child. "We are here to help you. As long as you tell us the truth, we will definitely find a solution." His eyes were full of sincerity and expectation.
The man raised his head, his eyes revealing deep fear. His eyes were bloodshot and his gaze was unsteady, as if he couldn't look Lin Yu in the eye. "This place is cursed. Every full moon night, zombies will appear." His voice trembled, and every word seemed to exhaust all his strength.
"Full moon night? Isn't today one?" one team member exclaimed, his voice filled with panic. He looked out the window and saw a full moon hanging high in the sky, casting a cold light. The moonlight shone on the ancient buildings, casting an eerie veil over the entire ancient town.
Lin Yu glanced at the moon outside the window, his heart tightening. The bright moonlight now seemed threatening to him, a sign of impending unknown danger. "Everyone, remain vigilant and be prepared for any eventuality." His voice was low and serious, carrying an undeniable authority.
At that moment, a shrill cry suddenly erupted from outside. It shattered the tranquility of the night, echoing across the ancient town, chilling everyone to the bone. The cry was filled with pain and despair, like a cry from hell.
"What's that sound?" Su Na's voice trembled. She grabbed the corner of Lin Yu's clothes tightly, and her body kept shaking.
Lin Yu's face became very solemn. "I don't know, but we have to go out and take a look." He took a deep breath and suppressed the fear in his heart. "Everyone be careful and follow me closely."
Everyone picked up their weapons and cautiously walked towards the door. With every step, their heartbeats quickened, as if they were about to step into an abyss filled with unknown dangers.
When they opened the door, a cold wind blew in their faces, mixed with a pungent smell. The street was empty, not a single person was in sight, only the shrill cries continued to be heard.
"The sound seems to come from over there." A team member said, pointing in a direction.
Lin Yu nodded and said, "Let's go and take a look."
They walked cautiously along the street, each step full of vigilance. The houses on both sides looked eerie in the moonlight, as if hiding countless secrets and dangers.
Suddenly, a dark shadow flashed before their eyes.
"Who?" Lin Yu shouted loudly.
No one answered, only the sound of light footsteps coming from the direction where the black shadow disappeared.
"Chase!" Lin Yu said without hesitation.
Everyone followed Lin Yu in the direction where the shadow disappeared. Their footsteps echoed in the quiet street, breaking the tranquility of the night.
When they chased to the entrance of an alley, the shadow disappeared.
"Search separately." Lin Yu said.
The team members divided into several groups and began searching in the alleys.
Su Na and Lin Yu were in a group and they carefully walked into the alley. The alley was filled with a foul smell and the walls were covered with moss.
"Lin Yu, I'm scared." Su Na's voice trembled.
"Don't be afraid, I'm here." Lin Yu comforted.
Just then, they heard a low growling sound.
"Be careful!" Lin Yu protected Su Na behind him.
A zombie rushed out from the darkness and pounced on them...
