The Secret of the Bells
Just as everyone was still gasping for breath, the deep bell rang again, the sound becoming more and more urgent, as if urging something. Each sound was like a heavy hammer, hitting everyone's heart hard, making their nerves, which had just relaxed, tense up again.
"What's going on with that bell?" One team member struggled to his feet, his legs still trembling slightly, his face filled with confusion and fear. He looked in the direction of the bell, his eyes filled with confusion and unease. "This sound gives me the creeps. It doesn't sound good," he muttered, his voice trembling.
Lin Yu frowned, his gaze fixed on the direction of the bell. His eyes were deep and determined, as if he could see through the darkness and the secret behind the mysterious bell. "Whatever happens, let's go and take a look." His voice was low and powerful. Although he was also filled with doubts and worries, as the captain, he had to remain calm and decisive.
Everyone supported each other and struggled to stand. They were exhausted, having just fought the mysterious man fiercely, and they had exhausted most of their energy. But in the face of this unknown fear, they had no choice but to retreat.
Walking through a dark corridor, the faint light from several oil lamps on the wall made the corridor seem even more eerie. The stone slabs on the floor were uneven, and in some places, there were pools of foul-smelling sewage. The lime on the walls was peeling, revealing the mottled bricks and stones underneath, as if telling of the vicissitudes of this ancient temple.
They walked cautiously, taking every step with extreme caution, for fear of triggering some unknown mechanism or trap.
"This place is so weird. I always feel like something is watching us." A team member said in a low voice. His voice echoed in the empty corridor, adding a bit of horror to the atmosphere.
"Don't scare yourself, walk carefully." Another team member responded. Although his tone was calm, his inner fear could still be heard from his slightly trembling voice.
Su Na clutched the corner of Lin Yu's clothes tightly, her body trembling non-stop. "Lin Yu, I'm scared." There was a hint of tears in her voice, like a helpless child.
Lin Yu gently patted Suna's hand and comforted her, "Don't be afraid, I'm here." His heart was also filled with anxiety, but he knew that at this time, he had to give everyone confidence and courage.
Finally, they arrived at a dusty Zen room. The door was half-open, and a stale smell wafted in from inside. The room was filled with thick dust, making people cough uncontrollably.
In the center of the Zen room stood a massive ancient bell. Several meters tall, its body cast from bronze, it was covered in strange runes. These twisted and entwined runes resembled wriggling snakes, sending a chill down one's spine.
Suna couldn't help but shiver: "This clock looks so weird." Her voice trembled, and she didn't dare to look directly at the ancient clock.
Lin Yu approached the ancient bell cautiously, his steps slow, as if he was afraid of disturbing something. He carefully observed the runes on it. Those runes were complex and mysterious, leaving him puzzled for a moment.
Suddenly, the ancient bell began to shake on its own, making a deafening sound that seemed to burst through the roof and reach the sky.
"Ah!" A team member screamed in fright and turned around to run away.
"Stop! Don't run around!" Lin Yu shouted loudly.
The ancient bell's shaking grew more and more intense, and the entire room began to tremble. Dust fell from the walls, and the ground seemed to be cracking.
"What is going on?" Suna asked in horror.
Lin Yu stared at the ancient clock, his mind racing. "There must be some reason for it to behave like this," he thought.
At this moment, a black smoke suddenly gushed out from the inside of the ancient bell. The smoke quickly spread and filled the entire room in an instant.
"Cover your mouth and nose!" Lin Yu shouted loudly.
Everyone covered their mouths and noses with clothes, but the pungent smell of the smoke still made them feel dizzy.
In the smoke, some blurry figures appeared faintly, rushing towards them with their fangs and claws bared.
"Be careful!" Lin Yu waved his weapon, trying to resist the attacks of those figures.
A fierce battle unfolded once again. The figures moved swiftly and were difficult to grasp. Lin Yu and his team fought hard, but in this smoky environment, their vision was greatly obstructed, and their attacks became somewhat blind.
"Ah!" Another team member was hit by the figure and fell to the ground.
"Hold on!" Lin Yu encouraged everyone loudly.
Suna also picked up a stick and joined the battle. Her eyes were full of determination, no longer filled with fear.
After a fierce fight, Lin Yu finally found the weakness of those figures. He shouted loudly: "Attack their heads!"
Everyone concentrated their strength and attacked the figures' heads. One by one, the figures disappeared in the smoke.
Finally, the smoke gradually dissipated, the ancient bell stopped shaking, and the room returned to peace.
Everyone collapsed to the ground, gasping for breath.
"What the hell is this thing?" asked a team member weakly.
Lin Yu looked at the ancient bell, deep in thought. "Perhaps there is a bigger secret hidden behind this," he said.
At this moment, a yellowed scroll fell out from the bottom of the ancient bell...
