The Mystery of the Haunted Valley
The task force's off-road vehicle, like a lone boat in the fog and howling wind, trudged slowly and painstakingly towards the entrance to Ghost Valley. Outside the car window, the thick fog seemed to have life, frantically slapping against the windows with a snapping sound. The chilling air permeated every corner, seeping in through the cracks and sending shivers down the spines of everyone inside.
Lin Yu sat in the driver's seat, his hands tightly gripping the steering wheel, his knuckles white from exertion. His eyes were focused and alert, trying to discern the road ahead through the foggy windshield.
"This place is too weird, everyone must be careful." Lin Yu's voice was low and suppressed, as if suppressed by the gloomy atmosphere around him. His heartbeat was like a drum, each beat pounding heavily against his chest, but he pretended to be calm, not wanting to make his teammates panic even more.
Suna sat in the passenger seat, clutching the seatbelt tightly with both hands, her eyes filled with tension and fear. She listened to Lin Yu's words and nodded slightly. "Well, I feel like there are countless pairs of eyes hidden here watching us." Her voice trembled, and all kinds of terrifying imaginations kept emerging in her mind.
Old Chen sat in the back seat, his face grim. He clutched a detector, his eyes fixed on the data. "The energy fluctuations in this area are unusual. We must be extra careful." His voice was steady, yet his inner uneasiness was barely concealed.
The SUV finally stopped at the entrance to Ghost Valley. Lin Yu took a deep breath, opened the door, and stepped out. A piercing gust of icy wind blew in his face, and he shivered. He gripped his weapon tighter and glanced around warily.
Suna and Lao Chen followed suit, their footsteps remarkably clear in the silent valley. The ground beneath their feet was damp and soft, like a vast swamp. With every step, they felt a strange stickiness that seemed to be sucking their shoes tightly.
The surrounding trees were tall and twisted, their branches intertwined like countless pairs of arms struggling in agony, and the leaves rustled in the wind like a low sob.
Suddenly, a sinister laugh came from the front. The laugh was sharp and shrill, echoing in the valley. The laughter was like a tangible tentacle, tightly grasping their hearts.
"Who?" Old Chen shouted in fear, his voice trembling. His eyes were wide open, looking around, trying to find the source of the laughter.
However, only laughter continued to echo, but no one was seen. The laughter seemed to come from all directions, making it impossible to tell the direction.
Suna took a deep breath and tried to calm herself. She silently told herself, "Don't panic, don't panic." "Everyone, don't panic. This could be some natural phenomenon or a deliberate illusion." Although she tried to keep her voice calm, a slight tremor could still be heard.
They continued to move forward, taking each step carefully. The ground beneath their feet became increasingly bumpy and uneven, and from time to time they were tripped by stones and branches.
Suddenly, Lin Yu stopped and his eyes fell on some strange marks on the ground. Those marks looked like those left by a giant creature crawling, and some unknown liquid remained in the deep gullies.
"What on earth left this?" Lin Yu frowned, his heart full of doubts. He squatted down and gently touched the traces with his fingers. The stickiness of the liquid made his fingers feel uncomfortable.
At this moment, a shrill scream came from the depths of the valley. The scream seemed to tear the soul apart and made people shudder.
"Oh no, go and check it out!" Lin Yu shouted loudly, his voice full of anxiety.
He took the lead and ran towards the direction of the sound, with Suna and Lao Chen following closely behind. Their footsteps echoed in the valley, breaking the brief silence.
They came to an open area and saw a figure lying on the ground, surrounded by a pool of black blood. The blood spread on the ground, forming a terrifying pattern.
Lin Yu walked closer and found that the man was no longer breathing. His face was full of fear and despair. His eyes were wide open, as if he had seen a very terrible scene before he died.
"What's going on?" Suna's voice trembled. She covered her mouth, unable to believe what she saw.
Old Chen squatted down and carefully examined the body. His fingers gently touched the wound, his brow furrowed. "Judging from the wound, it looks like it was torn apart by some powerful force." His voice was low and filled with deep worry.
At this moment, pairs of red eyes appeared in the surrounding fog, like burning fireballs, slowly approaching them in the darkness.
"Prepare for battle!" Lin Yu shouted loudly, raised his weapon and aimed at those eyes.
Suna and Lao Chen quickly picked up their weapons and nervously stared at the approaching eyes. Their heartbeats quickened and their breathing became rapid.
When the figures emerged from the mist, they discovered they were a group of bizarre creatures. They had twisted bodies, sharp claws like scimitars, and sharp teeth that gleamed coldly. Their skin was a strange gray, covered in strange patterns.
A fierce battle broke out instantly. Lin Yu opened fire first, and the bullet whizzed out, hitting a creature in the shoulder. The creature roared and rushed towards them.
Lin Yu dodged sideways, wielding his weapon and engaging the creatures. He had only one thought in mind: protect his teammates and defeat these monsters.
Suna cast a spell, and rays of light shot out from her hands, hitting the creatures' bodies. But these creatures didn't seem to be afraid and continued to attack them frantically.
