Chapter 111 Crisis and Turning Point

Crisis and Turning Point

Lin Yu and Suna hid under the table, not daring to breathe. In the darkness, their breathing was particularly heavy. Footsteps paced back and forth in the room, each step like a heavy hammer hitting their hearts, each one making their hearts tremble.

"What should we do? Lin Yu, we're going to be discovered!" Su Na's voice was filled with extreme panic. Her body was shaking constantly, and tears were swirling in her eyes, as if they would burst out at any moment. She covered her mouth tightly with her hands, afraid that she would make any sound.

Lin Yu's mind raced, his heart pounding like a drum, but he managed to stay clear in this extreme danger. "Don't make a sound. Wait until he gets close to us, then we'll take the opportunity to rush out." His voice was low and rapid. Although he was also filled with fear, he knew he had to remain calm at this time.

At this moment, the footsteps suddenly stopped in front of the table. The two people's hearts instantly rose to their throats, as if they would jump out at the next second. Their eyes met, and they saw deep fear in each other's eyes. Lin Yu could feel Suna's body shaking violently. He gently held Suna's hand, trying to give her some comfort and strength.

However, at this critical moment, there was a sudden noise outside, like someone shouting. The person standing at the table cursed and hurried out of the room. The curse echoed in the darkness, filled with anger and unwillingness.

Lin Yu and Suna breathed a sigh of relief, their bodies stiff from the prolonged tension. After a while, Lin Yu finally came to his senses and said softly, "Let's get out of here." His voice carried a hint of relief at having survived.

Suna nodded, her body trembling with fear. Lin Yu pulled her out from under the table. Their steps were hurried, the flashlight flickering in the darkness.

However, the passages in the basement were so intricate and complex, like a huge maze, that they soon lost their way. Every corner looked exactly the same, and every passage seemed to have no end.

"Where is this? We seem to be going in circles." Suna's voice was filled with despair, and her voice echoed in the empty passage, adding a touch of horror to the atmosphere. Her eyes had lost the light of hope, leaving only deep fear and helplessness.

Lin Yu shone his flashlight around and comforted her, "Don't be afraid, you'll definitely find a way out." His voice was firm, but his heart was filled with anxiety. The flashlight's light seemed so weak in the darkness, as if it would be swallowed by the darkness at any moment.

The passage was filled with a damp smell, and water dripped continuously from the walls, making a crisp sound. Every drop of water made their nerves tense, as if it was a countdown to death.

Just when they felt desperate, Lin Yu found a mark on the wall. It was a small arrow carved in stone, looming in the darkness.

"It seems someone left this there intentionally." Lin Yu observed the mark carefully, a glimmer of hope ignited in his heart. His eyes gleamed, as if he had grasped a life-saving straw.

Suna came closer, a hint of anticipation in her eyes. "Really? Then let's follow it."

Following the markings, they groped their way forward in the darkness. The passage became increasingly narrow, forcing them to lean sideways. Water dripped from overhead, dripping onto their necks, leaving them feeling icy cold.

Finally, they saw a glimmer of light.

"It's the exit!" Lin Yu shouted excitedly.

The two of them quickened their pace and ran towards the light.

As soon as they walked out of the basement, they saw a familiar figure.

"It's the principal!" Suna said in surprise.

The principal stood in the sun with a gloomy face and complex emotions in his eyes.

"Why are you in the basement?" There was a hint of blame and worry in the principal's voice.

Lin Yu told the principal about their discovery and what happened. His voice was rapid and excited as he told the principal about his horrific experience in the basement and their speculations.

The principal was silent for a moment, his eyes becoming deep and heavy. "In fact, there has always been a secret in this school." His voice echoed in the silent campus, carrying a heavy atmosphere.

It turned out that the female teacher discovered a sum of embezzled public funds from the school, which was supposed to be used to improve teaching facilities and help poor students. The female teacher's righteous act threatened the interests of certain people, who decided to take action against the female teacher in order to cover up their crimes.

"The person who was in the basement just now..." Lin Yu asked, his eyes full of anger.

The principal sighed, "It must be one of those people. They have been watching secretly to prevent the matter from being exposed."

"We must expose the truth and not let them go unpunished!" Lin Yu said firmly, his fists clenched tightly, his body trembling slightly with anger.

Suna also nodded, "Yes, we can't let them succeed."

The principal nodded. "I will help you. But this matter is not that simple. We must proceed with caution."

The sunshine shines on them, but it cannot dispel the haze in their hearts. They know that the road ahead will be even more difficult, but they are ready to face the challenge...
