The Clouds Clear and the Sun Shines
In the principal's small, dated office, Lin Yu, Suna, and the principal sat together, the atmosphere tense and oppressive. The sunlight outside the window was mostly blocked by heavy curtains, with only a few faint rays of light filtering through, making the room seem dim.
The principal frowned, his voice heavy with worry. "The evidence we have isn't strong enough yet, so we can't act rashly. Those people have been operating within the school for years, and their connections are complex. If we're not careful, not only will we fail to expose their crimes, but we could even put ourselves in even greater danger." His voice was low and hoarse, revealing deep worry. Every word weighed like a heavy stone on the hearts of everyone present.
Lin Yu sat on a worn chair, his hands clenched into fists. After a moment's contemplation, he said, "Then we must find more compelling evidence to expose their crimes. No matter how difficult it is, we cannot let the female teacher disappear in such an inexplicable way, and we cannot let those criminals go unpunished." His eyes were firm and persistent, as if burning with an unyielding flame. But behind that determination, there was also a hint of unease and anxiety. After all, they were facing an unknown and powerful enemy.
Suna sat nearby, clutching the hem of her clothes tightly in her hands, and interjected, "But where do we even begin? Those people must have hidden everything important. We're like groping in the dark, not knowing when we'll find a glimmer of light." Her voice trembled slightly, her eyes filled with confusion and fear. The terrifying scene in the basement and the mysterious, threatening phone call kept replaying in her mind, and her unease grew stronger.
At this moment, Lin Yu's phone suddenly rang. The abrupt ringtone was particularly harsh in the silent room. He hesitated for a moment, looked at the principal and Suna's nervous expressions, and finally pressed the answer button.
A deep voice came from the other end of the line, like the whisper of a demon from the depths of hell: "Don't meddle in other people's business, or you'll suffer." The voice was cold and ruthless, carrying a strong threat. With that, the phone was ruthlessly hung up, leaving only a series of beeps.
Lin Yu's face darkened, and his hand trembled slightly as he held the phone. "It seems they've noticed our actions." His voice was filled with anger and helplessness.
"What should we do?" Suna's eyes flashed with panic, and she involuntarily shrank back, as if trying to avoid the invisible threat. "Will they attack us? Should we give up?" Her voice was filled with tears, and the fear in her heart almost swallowed her up.
The principal stood up, his hands on the table, and looked at them with a determined gaze. "Don't be afraid. We must speed up our pace. The more afraid they are, the closer we are to the truth. It occurred to me that the school's finance office might hold some clues. Although it's usually heavily guarded, this is our only chance." His voice was steady and powerful, giving Lin Yu and Suna a glimmer of courage and hope.
They quietly arrived at the floor where the finance office was located. The corridor was silent, with only the sound of their footsteps echoing. With every step, they could feel as if pairs of eyes were watching them from the darkness. Lin Yu walked in front, tightly grasping a wooden stick he had taken from the office for self-defense. Suna followed closely behind, her heart beating so fast that it seemed as if it would burst out of her throat. The principal was at the back, constantly alert to any movement behind him.
The door of the finance office was closed. Lin Yu pushed it gently and found it was locked. He winked at the principal, who took out a key from his pocket. It was a spare key he had secretly taken from the General Affairs Office.
The door slowly opened, and the smell of stale paper and dust filled the air. They cautiously entered. The room was dark and damp, with only a few rays of light filtering through the cracks in the window. File cabinets lined the walls, and the desks were piled high with various ledgers and documents.
Lin Yu found a hidden account book in a corner, covered in a thick layer of dust. He blew away the dust and opened the book, which was densely packed with records of suspicious fund flows. "This must be the key evidence!" he said excitedly, his voice trembling.
However, just as they were about to leave, the door suddenly opened and several dark figures walked in. The sunlight shone in from behind them, making their faces hidden in the shadows and unable to be seen clearly. But the coldness emanating from them was chilling.
"Do you think you can get out so easily?" one of the black shadows said coldly, his voice full of sarcasm.
Lin Yu and the principal quickly protected Su Na behind them. Lin Yu raised the wooden stick in his hand and shouted, "Don't try to stop us! Justice will eventually triumph over evil!"
"Justice? Here, I have the final say!" Another black shadow stepped forward, revealing a ferocious face.
A fierce conflict is about to break out. The air seems to be frozen, filled with tension and fear...
