The Mystery of the Human-Shaped Tree
After their thrilling adventure in the Kunlun Mountain caves, Lin Yu and Suna were still exhausted and nervous. However, fate didn't seem to be giving them a moment's respite, as a strange legend about a humanoid tree quietly broke into their world like a ghost.
"I heard the human-shaped tree was struck by lightning. I don't know what happened." Suna's voice was particularly clear in the silent night, her tone filled with confusion and fear. Moonlight shone on her pale face, illuminating her worried eyes. She wrapped herself tightly in her coat, as if it could ward off the chill that was creeping deep within her.
Lin Yu stood by the window, gazing at the distant mountain range shrouded in darkness, his brow furrowed. "And they say breaking a branch will cause blood to flow! That's simply unbelievable." His voice was low and heavy, his thoughts as profound as the night outside. He recalled his experiences in the Kunlun Mountain caves, and a strange unease welled up in his heart.
"Could this tree really be a spirit?" Suna's voice trembled slightly, and all kinds of terrifying images involuntarily emerged in her mind. She imagined the humanoid tree twisting its body in the darkness, emitting an evil aura. "Lin Yu, I'm really scared." She walked over to Lin Yu and hugged her arms tightly.
Lin Yu turned his head and looked into Suna's fearful eyes, feeling an urge to protect her. "Don't be afraid, Suna. Maybe there's something behind this that science can't explain. Let's go and see, maybe we can find the answer." His voice was firm, but his heart was also filled with anxiety.
To find out, they decided to embark on a journey to the place where the human-shaped tree was located. It was a deep forest, and from a distance, it looked like a huge black vortex, as if it would swallow up any life that dared to approach.
When they finally entered the forest, a chilling, eerie atmosphere washed over them. The surrounding trees were tall and dense, their branches intertwined to form a green canopy that obscured the sun. Sunlight struggled to filter through the gaps between the leaves, forming thin, narrow streaks of light, but it couldn't dispel the forest's gloom.
They walked along a winding path, the ground beneath their feet was soft and damp, and with every step they took they could feel a sticky dampness coming from the soles of their feet. The air was filled with a rotten smell, a mixture of earth and fallen leaves, which made people feel nauseous.
"This tree looks really creepy." Su Na hid behind Lin Yu, holding the corner of his clothes tightly. Her voice trembled violently, and she dared not look directly at the human-shaped tree.
Lin Yu paused, his gaze fixed on the humanoid tree before him. It was tall and twisted, its shape resembling a person struggling in agony. Its trunk was covered in wrinkles and cracks, like the deep scars left by time. Its branches stretched toward the sky, claws and fangs bared, as if denouncing its pain and anger to the world.
Lin Yu approached the human-shaped tree cautiously, taking every step with extreme caution. His heartbeat was so rapid that it seemed as if it was about to burst out of his throat. "Suna, wait here, I'll go take a look." His voice echoed in the silent forest.
Suna nodded, her body shaking uncontrollably. "Be careful, Lin Yu," she said in a barely audible voice.
Lin Yu slowly approached the humanoid tree. A low buzzing sound filled his ears, like countless insects whispering. He raised his hand, wanting to touch the trunk, but pulled it back just as he was about to touch it. At that moment, the sky suddenly became overcast, instantly obscuring the weak sunlight.
"Oh no, it seems like there will be thunder again." Suna shouted in panic. Her voice echoed in the forest, startling a group of birds perched in the trees.
As they were about to leave, they discovered that the trees around them seemed to come alive, their branches intertwining to form a solid barrier that blocked their path.
"What's going on?" Lin Yu's eyes widened, his heart filled with fear. He pulled hard at the branches, but found they were as hard as steel.
"Are we trapped?" Suna cried, tears welling in her eyes and her body shaking.
Lin Yu took a deep breath and tried to calm himself down. "Don't be afraid, Suna, let's look for another exit." He quickly scanned the surroundings, trying to find a glimmer of hope for escape.
They carefully groped around the human-shaped tree. The thunder was getting closer and closer, and every flash of lightning made their heartbeats accelerate. In the darkness, their footsteps seemed particularly clear, as if they were the only sign of life in this forest.
Suddenly, Lin Yu found a gap between sparse branches. "Suna, this way!" His voice was filled with excitement.
Lin Yu pulled Su Na and rushed in that direction. However, just as they were about to pass through the gap, the branches of the humanoid tree suddenly stretched out and blocked their way.
"Ah!" Suna screamed, her voice echoing in the forest, full of despair and fear.
Lin Yu pushed the branches away with force and said, "Let's go!" His voice was full of determination and resoluteness.
They finally broke through the barrier and ran desperately. But the forest seemed to be deliberately teasing them, making them lose their way. Every seemingly familiar path disappeared before their eyes, and every corner made them fall into deeper confusion.
"Lin Yu, I can't run anymore." Suna panted, her steps became heavy. Her face was pale, and her hair was soaked with sweat.
"Can't stop, Suna, we have to leave here as soon as possible!" Lin Yu encouraged her. Although his voice was firm, he was already out of breath.
At this moment, the thunder in the sky was deafening, and each lightning bolt split the darkness like a sharp sword. The human-shaped tree seemed to let out a low roar, as if expressing anger at their escape.
"Could it be that the humanoid tree became a demon and committed evil, so it was struck by lightning?" Lin Yu thought as he ran. His brain was working rapidly, trying to find a clue in this chaotic situation.
Just when they were in despair, Lin Yu saw a stream in front of them. The stream was shining with a faint light in the darkness, as if it was a road to hope.
"Follow the stream, maybe we can find a way out!" Lin Yu shouted.
They ran all the way along the stream, the sound of the stream echoing in their ears, like a piece of music urging them on. They ran for an unknown amount of time, their legs felt as heavy as if they were filled with lead, but they did not dare to stop.
Finally, they ran out of the terrifying forest. The sunlight shone on them, bringing a touch of warmth and comfort.
The two men collapsed to the ground, gasping for breath, their clothes already soaked with sweat, their bodies covered with scars from branches and thorns.
"We finally escaped." Suna said, her voice full of fatigue and joy of surviving the disaster.
Lin Yu looked towards the forest, his eyes still filled with doubt and vigilance. "But the secret of the human-shaped tree has not yet been solved." His voice gradually dissipated in the breeze, as if blending into the mysterious forest.
