Chasing the Mysterious Shadow
After the black shadow passed by, Lin Yu and Su Na felt as if their hearts were tightly grasped by an invisible big hand, and the shadow of fear grew thicker in their hearts.
"Lin Yu, I think that shadow is following us." Suna's voice trembled like a leaf in the wind. Her eyes frantically turned back, each time filled with deep fear, as if the terrifying shadow would appear before her in the next second. Her breathing was rapid and disordered, her chest heaving violently, and cold sweat oozed from her forehead and trickled down her cheeks.
Lin Yu panted heavily, saying, "Don't look back! Keep going! We need to find the human-shaped tree as soon as possible." His voice was firm, but his heart was also filled with fear and anxiety. He stared straight ahead, his knife tightly gripped in his hand, his steps hurried and chaotic. He could feel his heartbeat like a frantic drum, each beat punctuated by a fear of the unknown.
They ran wildly in the forest. The branches were like the claws of a demon, mercilessly scraping their clothes and leaving long scars on their skin. The mud under their feet made their steps heavy and unsteady, but they ignored it all. They had only one thought in their minds - to escape the pursuit of the mysterious black shadow.
However, no matter how they ran, the deep roaring sound continued to echo around them. It seemed to come from all directions, like an invisible cage, trapping them tightly. Every roar made their bodies tremble involuntarily, as if the mysterious black shadow was teasing them, enjoying their fear and despair.
"No, this is not a solution." Lin Yu finally stopped, his hands on his knees, breathing heavily. His eyes were full of anxiety and helplessness, sweat soaked his hair and dripped down his cheeks.
Suna leaned against a large tree, her body trembling constantly, as if the tree was her only support. "What should we do?" her voice was tearful, her eyes filled with helplessness and despair. Horrible scenarios kept appearing in her mind, imagining that the dark shadow could pounce and devour them at any moment.
Just then, they heard a rustling sound all around them. The sound was subtle and dense, as if countless pairs of eyes were watching them in the darkness, and countless hands were moving quietly in the grass. Every tiny sound was like a sharp needle, pricking their nerves.
"Lin Yu, I'm scared." Su Na grabbed Lin Yu's arm tightly, her nails almost digging into his flesh. Her body pressed tightly against the tree trunk, as if she wanted to blend in and avoid the unknown threat.
Lin Yu pretended to be calm. He took a deep breath and tried to make his voice sound more resolute. "Don't be afraid. We will definitely find a way to get rid of this." But in his heart, he kept asking himself: Can we really find a way?
Suddenly, the shadow reappeared. This time, it was even closer, so close they could feel a cold breath against their faces. In the dim light, they finally saw it: a massive creature unlike anything they had ever seen. Its body was massive and twisted, covered in a layer of black, rough skin that exuded a foul stench. Its eyes shone with an eerie red light, like burning coals, sending shivers down their spines.
"What kind of monster is this?" Lin Yu's eyes widened, his voice hoarse with fear. His legs involuntarily weakened and he almost collapsed to the ground.
The shadow let out a deafening roar, as if to shatter the entire forest. Along with the roar, a powerful gust of air rushed towards them, blowing their hair and clothes wildly.
Suna screamed, her voice breaking through the silence of the forest. "Help!"
Lin Yu's mind went blank. He instinctively raised the knife in his hand and shouted at the shadow: "Don't come over!"
But the shadow was undeterred by his threat, and with great strides it lunged towards them, the ground trembling beneath its feet and branches snapping under its impact.
Lin Yu and Suna closed their eyes, waiting for that terrible moment...
