Chapter 126: Escape from the Valley

Escape from the Valley

After Lin Yu and Suna escaped the cave, sunlight briefly shone on them, but this did nothing to alleviate their inner fear. They didn't dare to pause for even a moment, as if death were chasing them, desperately running towards the next location marked on the map.

"Lin Yu, I can't run anymore," Suna gasped. Her voice was weak and feeble, each word strained from the depths of her throat. Her face was as pale as paper, and her hair, drenched in sweat, lay in strands on her forehead. Her legs felt heavy as if they were filled with lead, and each step required immense effort.

Lin Yu turned around and saw Suna's exhausted appearance, and his heart ached. But he knew they couldn't stop. He took Suna's hand and said firmly, "Hold on a little longer. We can't let that monster catch up." His eyes were filled with anxiety and fear, but also with an unyielding determination.

The two supported each other as they struggled forward through the forest. The ground beneath their feet was soft and damp, sinking into it with every step, as if the forest was deliberately slowing them down. The surrounding trees were tall and gloomy, their branches intertwined to form a green canopy that felt incredibly oppressive.

Suddenly, they heard the sound of branches snapping behind them. The sound was crisp and loud, and it was particularly terrifying in the silent forest. "Oh no! It's chasing us!" Lin Yu's face changed drastically, his pupils constricted, and his heartbeat accelerated sharply. Fear spread through his body like an electric current, causing him to tremble involuntarily.

Su Na turned her head in horror, "What should I do? What should I do?" Her voice was filled with tears, and she grabbed Lin Yu's arm tightly with both hands, her nails almost digging into his flesh.

They picked up speed, their pace becoming more frantic. Lin Yu's breathing was rapid and heavy; he could feel his lungs burning, each breath like swallowing fire. Suna's panting echoed in his ears, filling him with anxiety.

Until they came to a turbulent river. The water roared and splashed, making a huge roar. "What should I do? The river is flowing so fast." Suna looked at the river with horror on her face. Her eyes were wide open, and she looked at the turbulent river with despair in her heart.

Lin Yu gritted his teeth, his gaze shifting between the river and behind him, a fierce struggle brewing in his heart. "We need to swim across. This is the only way." His voice was filled with determination. Although his heart was filled with fear, he knew they had no way out.

After saying that, he held Suna's hand tightly and said, "Don't be afraid, Suna, I will protect you."

Suna looked at Lin Yu's determined eyes and nodded, "Okay, let's go together."

The two took a deep breath, held hands, and jumped into the river. The water was icy cold, instantly surrounding them. The current was so powerful that it swept them all over the place. Lin Yu struggled to maintain his balance and control his direction, but the force of the river made his efforts seem insignificant.

"Suna, hold on to me!" Lin Yu shouted.

Su Na hugged Lin Yu's waist tightly, and her body kept rolling in the water. Her heart was full of fear, but Lin Yu's presence made her feel a little relieved.

"Lin Yu, I can't hold on any longer!" Su Na's voice was drowned out by the roar of the river.

Lin Yu paddled vigorously, "Don't give up, Suna, we're almost on the other side!"

They struggled desperately in the river, each breath becoming incredibly difficult. The water continued to pour into their mouths and noses, making them feel suffocated. But they held on to each other tightly, with only one belief in their hearts, which was to survive.

Finally, they were swept to the other side by the current. They struggled to climb ashore and collapsed to the ground, exhausted. Their bodies were shaking and they were gasping for breath.

"I hope the monster can't come over." Suna said breathlessly, her voice weak and trembling.

Lin Yu looked at the other side of the river and prayed in his heart. His eyes were full of vigilance, fearing that the monster would suddenly appear by the river.

After a while, they found no trace of the monster and finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"We have to leave quickly." Lin Yu struggled to stand up and pulled Su Na up.

Suna's legs were still weak, but she managed to stand up. "Okay, let's go."

They dragged their exhausted bodies and continued on their way. The atmosphere in the forest was still gloomy and terrifying, and every gust of wind made them feel cold.

"Lin Yu, I'm really scared." Suna's voice was trembling.

Lin Yu held Suna's hand and said, "Don't be afraid, Suna. We will definitely find the holy object, lift the curse, and leave this terrible place."

They walked arduously through the forest. The path became increasingly difficult to walk on. The thorns tore their clothes and scratched their skin, but they no longer felt the pain.

Suddenly, a huge owl flew over their heads, making an eerie cry.

Suna screamed in fear, "Ah!"

Lin Yu quickly hugged Suna and said, "It's okay, it's just an owl."

As they continued on their journey, the sky gradually darkened and the forest became darker.

"Lin Yu, I feel like something is following us." Suna's voice was full of fear.

Lin Yu stopped and listened carefully to the sounds around him. "Don't scare yourself, Suna. It might be the wind."

But their hearts were filled with anxiety and their steps became more hurried.

After walking for an unknown amount of time, they finally saw a ray of light ahead. It was an ancient temple.

"What is that?" Suna asked.

Lin Yu frowned, "I don't know, but maybe it has something to do with the holy object."

They walked towards the temple, their hearts filled with anticipation and fear...
