Chapter 129: The Truth

"the truth"

As the flashlight illuminated their surroundings, Lin Yu and Suna were horrified to discover they were in a room filled with eerie statues. The statues were distorted, some bent at impossible angles, others stretched unnaturally, as if in agony. Their faces were even more hideous, their eyes bulging and their mouths gaping, baring sharp teeth, as if hurling an evil curse at them.

"What...what is this place?" Suna's voice trembled, her throat clenched in fear as if by an invisible hand. Her eyes were wide open, filled with terror and helplessness, tears welling up in her eyes, and she was on the verge of crying.

Lin Yu swallowed hard, trying to calm himself, but his voice couldn't help but tremble. "I don't know, but it doesn't feel good." His eyes wandered between the statues, each one looking like a demon that might come to life at any moment.

Just then, they heard a low chanting sound that seemed to come from deep underground, with an ancient and mysterious rhythm. The sound seemed to come from all directions, making it impossible to tell the direction, as if the entire room was emitting this strange sound.

"This voice..." Su Na grabbed Lin Yu's arm tightly, her nails almost digging into his flesh. Her body kept shaking, as if the chanting was devouring her soul bit by bit.

Lin Yu shone his flashlight around, trying to find the source of the sound. The flashlight's light flickered in the darkness, causing the statues' shadows to sway, adding to the eerie atmosphere. Suddenly, they saw a figure in a black robe moving between the statues, appearing and disappearing like a ghost.

"Who is it?" Lin Yu shouted loudly. His voice echoed in the empty room, but was drowned out by the low chanting.

The figure paused and slowly turned, revealing a pale, distorted face. It was covered in deep wrinkles and scars, as if eroded by time. Its eyes, sunken in their sockets, shone with an eerie light that sent shivers down its spine.

"You shouldn't be here." The black-robed man's voice was eerie and terrifying, like a curse from hell. His voice echoed in the room, striking the hearts of Lin Yu and Suna.

"Who are you? Why are you here?" Lin Yu mustered up the courage to ask. Even though his heart was beating like a drum, he tried to keep his voice firm.

The black-robed man sneered, a laugh that sounded like the cry of a night owl, chilling everyone's blood. "I am the messenger guarding this place. Your arrival has shattered the tranquility and awakened the dormant evil."

Lin Yu and Suna looked at each other and saw deep fear and confusion in each other's eyes.

"What evil? What does this have to do with the curse of the forest?" Lin Yu asked, his voice filled with a hint of urgency, hoping to get an answer from the man in black robe.

The black-robed figure remained silent for a moment. The chanting around him seemed to grow louder, as if urging him on. "The curse of the humanoid tree is only the beginning. The true disaster is about to strike. This forest is cursed because of the unforgivable sins committed by its inhabitants in the past. Your intrusion has accelerated the curse's awakening."

Suna's voice was filled with tears. "Then what should we do? How can we stop this?"

The black-robed man shook his head. "It's too late now. The gears of fate have begun to turn, and no one can stop it."

Lin Yu held the flashlight tightly, "No, there must be a way, you must know something, tell us quickly!"

The black-robed figure raised his hand and pointed at the statues. "These statues represent former victims. Their souls are imprisoned here forever. And you will become a part of them."

"No!" Suna screamed.

Lin Yu's eyes became firm, "We will not give in. There must be a way to break this curse."

The black-robed man sneered again, "Naive human, do you think you can resist this powerful force? Only endless pain and despair await you."

After saying that, the black-robed man slowly disappeared into the darkness, leaving Lin Yu and Suna at a loss in this terrifying room. The light of the flashlight seemed so weak in the darkness that it seemed like it would be swallowed by the darkness at any moment.

"Lin Yu, what should we do?" Su Na's voice was filled with fear and helplessness.

Lin Yu took a deep breath and said, "Don't be afraid, Suna, we will definitely find a way out."

However, what they don't know is that a greater danger is quietly approaching...
