Mysterious Passage
As Lin Yu and Suna rushed into the passage, they were instantly struck by a pungent odor, a sickening mix of rotting leaves and damp earth. The ground was incredibly slippery, as if covered in a greasy slime. They had to be careful with every step to avoid falling. Water droplets continuously dripped from the walls, making a crisp "tick-tick" sound that was particularly clear in the silent passage.
"Lin Yu, this place doesn't feel safe either." Suna's voice was filled with worry. Her eyes scanned the surroundings vigilantly, and her hands tightly grasped the corner of Lin Yu's clothes. Her heartbeat was so rapid that she could almost hear the violent beating echoing in her ears.
"No matter what, let's keep going and see if we can find the exit." Lin Yu held a flashlight, its faint light flickering in the darkness. His voice was firm, but his heart was filled with anxiety. He took each step carefully, using the flashlight to illuminate the road ahead, fearing that some unknown danger would suddenly appear.
The corridor was eerily quiet, with only the sound of their footsteps and breathing echoing in the air. Their footsteps clattered against the damp ground, like a countdown to death. Every breath was heavy with fear, as if they weren't breathing air, but endless terror and despair.
As they walked, they noticed some strange murals began to appear on both sides of the passage. The colors of those murals were dim and the lines were blurred, but they still conveyed a sense of mystery and strangeness.
"These paintings are so strange, as if they are telling an ancient story." Lin Yu stopped and carefully observed the murals. He fixed his eyes on the twisted lines and mysterious patterns, trying to decipher some useful information from them.
Suna leaned in, her body trembling slightly. "But how will this help us?" Her voice was filled with doubt and fear. She dared not look directly at the murals, as if just one glance would draw her in, unable to extricate herself.
Lin Yu frowned thoughtfully. "Perhaps this is related to the curse of the forest. Perhaps we can find the key to lifting it." His voice was low and solemn, his mind racing, trying to piece together the message conveyed by the murals.
Just as they were concentrating on studying the murals, a strange sound suddenly came from behind them. It was like something was approaching quickly, bringing with it a gust of wind that blew their hair and clothes.
"No, run!" Lin Yu shouted, grabbed Suna's hand and continued running forward. His heartbeat accelerated instantly, and fear followed him like a shadow.
They ran wildly in the darkness, and the sound of their footsteps echoed in the passage, as if amplified countless times. Lin Yu's breathing became rapid and disordered. He could feel Su Na's hand trembling in his, but he didn't dare to stop for a moment.
After running for who knows how long, a fork appeared ahead. Under the dim light of the flashlight, the two passages looked eerie and terrifying, as if they led to two different hells.
"Which way?" Suna asked anxiously, her voice tearful and her eyes full of fear and confusion.
Lin Yu hesitated, the flashlight moving back and forth between the two passages. His brain was thinking rapidly, and every second seemed so long.
"Let's go to the left. I feel the wind blowing from the left. It might lead to the outside." Lin Yu finally made a decision. There was a hint of uncertainty in his voice, but at this moment they had no choice.
They chose the left passage, and as soon as they entered, they felt a sense of narrowness and oppression. The passage became narrower and narrower, and only one person could pass through.
"Lin Yu, I'm scared." Su Na's voice was tearful, her body pressed against the wall, trying to find a sense of security.
"Don't be afraid, Suna, we'll be out soon." Lin Yu comforted her, but his palms were sweating with nervousness. He took a deep breath and continued to move forward.
The passage was filled with a suffocating feeling of oppression. Water droplets from the wall dripped onto their bodies, bringing a chill. Lin Yu's flashlight was so dim that it seemed as if it would be swallowed by the darkness at any moment.
"Lin Yu, I feel like we've been going round in circles." Suna's voice was filled with despair.
"No, we will definitely be able to get out." Lin Yu said gritting his teeth, although he himself began to doubt whether their choice was correct.
Suddenly, a low roar came from the front. The sound seemed to come from the demon of the abyss, making their blood freeze instantly.
"What...what is this?" Suna's voice was so trembling that it was almost inaudible.
Lin Yu shone his flashlight forward, only to see a huge black shadow looming at the end of the passage...
