Chapter 137 The Horrible Truth

The Horrible Truth

The deep roar echoed through the lab, like a roar from the depths of hell, causing Lin Yu and Suna's bodies to freeze instantly. Each note was like a sharp ice spike, piercing their bones, and fear spread rapidly through their bodies like an electric current.

"Where...where is this sound coming from?" Suna's voice trembled like a leaf shivering in the cold wind. Her eyes darted around in terror, her pupils dilated with extreme fear. She covered her ears tightly with her hands, trying to block out the creepy sound.

Lin Yu's heart was beating so hard it threatened to burst through his chest. He took a deep breath and tried to calm himself. "Whatever it is, we must get to the bottom of it." His voice was firm, but the slight tremor betrayed his inner fear. However, a strong sense of mission surged within him, driving him forward.

They carefully searched the lab for the source of the sound, each step akin to treading on knife-edge. An eerie blue light filled the lab, making the space seem even more eerie. The faint hums and hums of various instruments intertwined, like the whispers of a demon.

Suddenly, a huge screen lit up, displaying some strange data and images. The data flashed as fast as a meteor, and the images were distorted and dazzling.

"What does this mean?" Suna asked puzzledly, her brows furrowed and her eyes fixed on the screen, trying to find some clues.

Lin Yu studied the screen carefully, not daring to blink. "I don't quite understand it, but it looks like some kind of experimental record." His voice was low and nervous, his brain working rapidly, thinking about what these data and images might mean.

At that moment, the image of a person appeared on the screen. The person wore a white lab coat and thick glasses, and his expression was as cold as ice. His eyes held a chilling coldness, as if they could see through their souls.

"You shouldn't be here." said the man in the image. His voice was cold and ruthless, as if it came from another world.

Lin Yu asked loudly, "Who are you? What kind of experiment is being conducted here?" His voice echoed in the empty laboratory, with a hint of anger and questioning.

"This is a secret experiment on biological modification. It was originally intended to create more powerful creatures, but it unexpectedly caused a disaster." The man said. There was no regret in his tone, only an indifferent statement.

"So that giant salamander is the product of the experiment?" Lin Yu asked, his eyes fixed on the image on the screen, his fists clenched unconsciously.

"Yes, it's out of control." The man's voice was still indifferent, as if all this had nothing to do with him.

"Then is there any way to stop it?" Suna asked anxiously, her voice tearful and her eyes full of despair and expectation.

"There is only one way, which is to destroy all the experimental data and equipment here and stop this experiment forever." The man said, his image flickered on the screen, as if he would disappear at any time.

Lin Yu and Suna looked at each other and saw determination in each other's eyes. They nodded and said, "Okay, let's do it."

Lin Yu began to look for tools that could destroy the equipment in the laboratory. His hands groped over the rows of instruments, his heart filled with tension and anxiety.

"Lin Yu, I'm afraid we won't make it in time." Suna followed behind him and said in a trembling voice.

"Don't be afraid, Suna, we can definitely do it." Lin Yu comforted her, even though he himself didn't know whether he could really succeed.

At this moment, the low roar sounded again, and it was getting closer and closer, as if the out-of-control creature was approaching them.

"Hurry up, Lin Yu!" Su Na urged.

Lin Yu finally found a fire axe. He held the axe handle tightly and said, "Suna, stay away."

He used all his strength to chop at a huge mainframe. Sparks flew and the machine emitted a sharp alarm.

"Keep going, Lin Yu, don't stop!" Suna shouted from the side.

Lin Yu kept waving the fire axe, and sweat soaked his forehead and back.

Just when they thought they were about to succeed, the lights in the laboratory suddenly went out, plunging them into darkness...
