Chapter 138: We Survived

We Survived

The laboratory was plunged into darkness, a thick, inky blackness that instantly swallowed up Lin Yu and Suna. The sudden onset of darkness made them feel as if they had fallen into a bottomless abyss, and the fear in their hearts was instantly magnified.

"Lin Yu, what should we do?" Suna's voice was filled with panic, trembling in the darkness, like a spider silk blown by the wind, ready to break at any moment. Her body trembled uncontrollably, and her hands fumbled in the air, trying to grasp a glimmer of security.

"Don't be afraid, Suna, don't move." Lin Yu's voice was trembling, but he tried to appear calm. His heart was beating like a drum, each beat urging him to act quickly. In the darkness, his breathing became rapid and disordered. He could feel Suna's fear and knew that he had to be strong at this moment.

Lin Yu fumbled for his flashlight in the darkness, his hands scrabbling in the darkness, his heart filled with anxiety. Every second of darkness was like an endless torture. His hands touched all kinds of cold instruments and debris, but he still couldn't find the flashlight.

Finally, Lin Yu's fingers touched the familiar flashlight barrel, and a burst of ecstasy surged in his heart. "Found it!" he shouted, with a hint of excitement in his voice that was hard to conceal.

Lin Yu turned on the flashlight, and the weak light struggled to open up a small space in the darkness. The light seemed so small, as if it would be swallowed up by the darkness again at any time.

"Suna, follow me closely." Lin Yu held up the flashlight carefully, and the faint light swayed in front, illuminating the rugged road under their feet.

Suddenly, they heard a burst of hurried footsteps. The sound was particularly clear in the darkness, and every step seemed to be stepping on their hearts.

"Who is it?" Lin Yu shouted loudly. His voice echoed in the darkness, but there was no response. Only the footsteps were getting closer and closer, carrying an invisible pressure.

No one answered, only the creepy footsteps echoed in the darkness, like a countdown to death.

At this moment, a huge claw stretched out from the darkness, carrying with it a cold aura. The claw was as hard as steel, and reflected a chilling luster under the flashlight.

"Be careful!" Suna screamed, her voice piercing the darkness, filled with extreme fear.

Lin Yu quickly dodged sideways, and the claws brushed past his clothes, bringing a gust of cool wind. He could feel the wind brought by the claws, as if it were the breath of death.

"Run!" Lin Yu yelled, grabbing Su Na's hand and running desperately towards the exit. Their footsteps sounded chaotic and rapid in the darkness, and their breathing sounded like a worn-out bellows.

However, they lost their way in the darkness, and the familiar laboratory became like a maze. They stumbled around but could not find the exit.

"It's over, we can't get out." Suna cried in despair, her tears streaming down her face, her voice full of helplessness and collapse.

"No, there must be a way." Lin Yu panted, his brain working rapidly, trying to recall the route he took to enter the laboratory. But fear and confusion made his thinking dull, and every thought instantly dissipated in the darkness.

At this moment, Lin Yu's flashlight shone on a vent on the wall. The grid of the vent was particularly eye-catching under the light.

"Suna, let's go from here." There was a glimmer of hope in Lin Yu's voice. He forcefully opened the vent cover. The cover seemed to be rusted, and he took a lot of effort to open it.

"You go up first." Lin Yu pushed Su Na in.

Suna didn't hesitate. She went into the vent. The dark ventilation duct was filled with a stale and decayed smell.

Lin Yu followed in. The vents were filled with a foul smell, a mixture of dust, mold, and unknown chemicals. The space was so small that it was almost impossible to turn around. They could only crawl with difficulty.

Their bodies rubbed against each other in the ventilation duct, making a rustling sound. Every step forward was extremely difficult, their clothes were scratched by the duct wall, and their skin was also rubbed, but they did not dare to stop.

They didn't know how long they had been climbing, but their strength was almost exhausted and their limbs felt as heavy as if they were filled with lead.

Just when they were about to give up, Lin Yu saw a ray of light ahead.

"It's the exit!" Lin Yu shouted excitedly, his voice hoarse with fatigue, but full of hope.

They quickened their pace, ignoring the pain and fatigue in their bodies, and crawled towards the ray of light.

Finally, they climbed out of the vent. Outside, the sun was shining brightly, and the breeze was blowing. The warm sunlight shone on them, like a comfort from heaven.

Lin Yu and Suna lay on the grass, breathing heavily. They looked at the blue sky and white clouds, feeling the gentle breeze, as if they had been reborn.

"We survived, Lin Yu." Su Na's voice was filled with relief and weakness after surviving a disaster.

Lin Yu turned his head and looked at Suna with a tired smile. "Yes, we survived."

They lay quietly on the grass, enjoying the tranquility and letting their minds recover from the horrific experience they had just had.
