Chapter 141 A Difficult Decision

Hard Choices

Although Lin Yu and Suna had ostensibly agreed to the base's request, deep down they were secretly plotting how to escape this nightmarish place. Every second, their nerves were on edge, like a fully drawn bowstring that could break at any moment.

"Lin Yu, I'm really scared. What if they find out what we're thinking?" Suna said anxiously. Her eyes were filled with fear and uneasiness, and she twisted the corners of her clothes with her hands, as if that would alleviate her anxiety. Her voice trembled, like a lonely fallen leaf on a cold autumn night, shivering in the wind.

"Don't worry, Suna, we'll be careful and we'll definitely find an opportunity," Lin Yu reassured her, but he wasn't entirely sure. His gaze was firm yet tinged with confusion. He knew they were in dire straits, but he couldn't show the slightest bit of weakness or hesitation in front of Suna. His heartbeat was like a rapid drumbeat, each beat pounding on his frayed nerves.

Soon, they were assigned a series of missions and training. They were terrifying missions involving complex and dangerous operations. The training area was filled with a pungent chemical odor, and the cold instruments and flashing lights instilled an inexplicable sense of dread.

During this process, they discovered that the base was conducting an extremely dangerous biological experiment. The laboratory was filled with various huge glass containers, filled with bizarre biological specimens, some twisted and deformed, some missing limbs, and emitting a disgusting odor. The out-of-control giant salamander was an unexpected product of the experiment.

"Lin Yu, we can't let them continue like this. This will bring even greater disaster." Suna looked at the cruel experimental data, her eyes filled with anger. Her voice became sharp with excitement, her hands clenched into fists, and her body trembled slightly with anger.

"But we can't even protect ourselves right now, how can we stop them?" Lin Yu frowned, lost in thought. His gaze roamed around the lab, his heart filled with helplessness and despair. He knew Suna was right, but they were facing a powerful and mysterious organization, and their power seemed so insignificant.

Just when they were feeling hopeless, Lin Yu stumbled upon a secret passage in the base. While on a mission, he stumbled upon a closed iron door in a secluded corner, covered in strange symbols and markings. As he approached the door, he had a strong intuition that something important was hidden behind it.

"Suna, this might be our only chance," Lin Yu whispered, his voice filled with a hint of uncontrollable excitement and nervousness, his eyes gleaming with hope.

"But the passage is definitely monitored and guarded. Can we make it?" Suna asked worriedly. Her eyes were filled with doubt and fear, and various possible dangerous scenarios kept appearing in her mind.

"How do you know if you don't try? It's better than just sitting here and waiting to die." Lin Yu said firmly. His tone was firm, as if he had already made up his mind. He knew it was a risk, but they had no way out.

So, they decided to move at night. As night fell, the lights in the base seemed especially eerie. A cold wind howled through the corridors, making a whining sound like the weeping of ghosts. Lin Yu and Suna quietly changed into their black combat uniforms, trying to blend in with the darkness.

They hid in a corner, waiting for the shift change at the base. Every second of waiting was like torture, and their heartbeats were particularly clear in the silent night.

"Lin Yu, I'm so nervous." Su Na's voice was almost inaudible.

"Don't be afraid, Suna, it will be over soon." Lin Yu held Suna's hand tightly, trying to give her some strength.

Finally, it was time for the shift change. As the guards' footsteps faded, Lin Yu and Suna sprinted toward the mysterious iron door. Their footsteps echoed in the empty corridor, seeming particularly abrupt.

Lin Yu carefully pushed open the iron door, and a stale smell hit him. Inside the door was a narrow and dim passage, and water droplets on the wall dripped onto the ground, making a crisp sound.

"Be careful." Lin Yu whispered.

They walked into the corridor, the weak flashlight light flickering in the darkness. The corridor was filled with a smell of dampness and decay, and the walls were covered with moss and cobwebs.

Suddenly, a strange sound came from the depths of the passage, like the breathing of some creature.

"What's that sound?" Suna's voice was full of fear.

"I don't know, let's go." Lin Yu quickened his pace.

As they continued to move forward, the passage became narrower and narrower, barely wide enough for one person to pass through. Lin Yu led the way, and Suna followed closely behind.

"Lin Yu, I feel like something is staring at us." Suna's voice trembled.

"Don't let your imagination run wild, just keep up." Lin Yu's voice was trembling a little, but he tried to stay calm.

Just then, a dark shadow passed over their heads.

"Ah!" Suna screamed.

"Don't be afraid, it might just be a mouse." Lin Yu comforted.

They continued forward and finally saw the exit of the passage, but there was a guard standing at the exit.

"What should I do?" Suna panicked.

Lin Yu took a deep breath and said, "Go ahead!"

They rushed towards the guards desperately...
