Chapter 146: Dawn

Dawn

As the sirens drew closer, their sharp, rapid blasts resonated louder and clearer in the rainstorm-ravaged world. The men in black, who had been pressing forward, suddenly panicked, their expressions changing from arrogance and coldness to panic.

"Oh no! The police are here!" one of the men in black exclaimed, his voice shrill and sharp with fear, like a duck being strangled. His eyes were wide open, filled with disbelief and deep fear.

They stared at each other, their eyes filled with fear and hesitation. Their once orderly pace became chaotic, and some began to retreat unconsciously, their weapons seeming to grow immensely heavier.

When Lin Yu and Suna heard the sirens, hope surged in their hearts. At that moment, it was as if a ray of light suddenly appeared in the darkness, illuminating their almost hopeless hearts.

"We're saved!" Suna said excitedly, her voice trembling with uncontrollable joy and tears of excitement. A smile of relief broke out on her face. Although her face was still covered in a mixture of rain and tears, and her hair was wet and stuck to her face, at this moment, the light of hope rekindled in her eyes.

Lin Yu also showed a smile on his face, a smile of relief that came from finally seeing hope after extreme exhaustion and fear. However, his eyes were still fixed on the men in black, his hand tightly gripping the pistol to prevent them from making any sudden moves.

Seeing this, the men in black quickly jumped onto the off-road vehicle, trying to escape from this place that was about to become their nightmare. The wheels spun wildly in the mud, splashing large amounts of mud, water and weeds.

"Don't let them get away!" Lin Yu shouted, his voice firm and powerful in the rain. His heart was filled with anger. These people had brought them endless fear and pain, and he didn't want them to get away so easily.

However, the SUV still sped through the mud, splashing a cloud of water. The mud and water were like a huge curtain, blocking Lin Yu and Suna's view. The roar of the car gradually faded away in the rain, leaving only chaos and devastation.

Soon, a police car arrived at the scene. Its lights flashed in the rain, their interlaced red and blue lights illuminating the dark and chaotic area. The officers quickly alighted from the car, neatly dressed in uniforms, their steps firm and powerful. Rain pelted their hats and shoulders, but their expressions were serious and focused.

"Are you all right?" a policeman asked, his voice gentle and concerned. His face was wet with rain, but his eyes revealed his concern for Lin Yu and Suna.

Lin Yu and Su Na shook their heads tiredly, "It's a good thing you came." Lin Yu's voice was hoarse and weak. He felt that his body had reached its limit, but a big stone in his heart finally fell to the ground.

Under police escort, Lin Yu and Suna arrived at the police station. The lights inside were bright, a stark contrast to the darkness and chaos outside. They sat in a warm room, wrapped in thick blankets, holding a cup of steaming coffee.

They told the police in detail about their experiences and the secrets of the mysterious base. Lin Yu's voice was low and heavy, as if every word carried the fear and pain they had experienced.

"We accidentally discovered that base, and then we were hunted by them. That base was conducting terrible experiments. We saw those distorted biological specimens and all kinds of cruel equipment." Lin Yu said, his eyes still full of fear and anger.

Suna went on to say, "They threatened us that if we didn't obey, we would never be able to leave. We were always looking for opportunities to escape. It was really terrible." Her voice trembled, and her body trembled involuntarily as she recalled those horrific scenes.

After hearing this, the police officers' expressions became serious, their eyes revealing determination and resolve. An older officer said, "Don't worry, we will investigate this matter thoroughly and will not let them get away with it."

After some effort, the police finally found the mysterious base. The base was hidden deep in the mountains and was surrounded by security and defense facilities. The police approached cautiously, their weapons tightly grasped.

When they stormed into the base, the scene inside was shocking. The vast laboratory was filled with all sorts of strange instruments and equipment, and some unfinished experiments exuded a pungent odor. There were also cells holding innocent people, the people inside haggard faces, their eyes filled with despair and fear.

The police quickly took action, successfully rescued the other prisoners, and destroyed the illegal experimental equipment in the base. Flames burned in the base, lighting up the night sky, as if a judgment on those crimes.

Lin Yu and Suna finally escaped danger and returned to their normal lives. The sun shone on their faces, warm and gentle.

"After going through so much, I finally understand how precious ordinary life is," Suna said with emotion. She walked down the street, watching the people coming and going, her heart filled with emotion. Those once ordinary days now seemed so beautiful and desirable.

Lin Yu held her hand and said, "Yes, but this experience has also made us stronger." His eyes were full of determination and anticipation for the future. They knew that although they had experienced such a terrible thing, they had learned a lot from it and cherished everything they had now.

From then on, they lived a peaceful and happy life. Every morning, sunlight streamed through the window onto their bed, and they woke to greet the new day. They strolled through the park together, feeling the gentle breeze and listening to the birds singing. In the evening, they sat on the sofa, watching movies together, sharing their joys and sorrows. The fears and pain they once experienced gradually became a memory, making them cherish the happiness they had.
