New Clues
After Lin Yu, Suna, and Lao Chen emerged from the cave, the sun shone like a warm embrace on their exhausted bodies, but they dared not let their guard down. A thin layer of mist hung in the forest, making the surroundings appear hazy and mysterious. The chirping of birds was particularly abrupt in the silence, as if the forest was wary of these uninvited guests.
They rested for a while under a large tree, each of them wearing the fatigue and solemnity of surviving a disaster. Lin Yu sat on a rock, breathing lightly, while skillfully bandaging the wound on his arm caused by the monster.
"This experience was horrific, but we didn't gain nothing," Lin Yu said as he gritted his teeth and tightened the bandage, his brow furrowed in pain, his voice trembling slightly. He was still thinking back to the thrilling battle in the cave, every moment feeling like he was on the brink of life and death.
Suna leaned against another tree, her legs weak as she slumped down. She nodded, a look of determination in her eyes. "Yes, that castle and cave must be hiding some profound secret. Those strange creatures, mysterious symbols, and powers we've never seen beforeāit's all so unusual." Her mind was still immersed in the horrific experience she had just had, filled with doubt and uneasiness.
Old Chen stood aside, gazing deeply into the distance. After pondering for a moment, he said, "I always feel that all this is not accidental. There seems to be a huge conspiracy behind it. What we encounter may just be the tip of the iceberg." His voice was low and serious, and the wrinkles on his forehead seemed to be deeper, each one engraved with deep worry.
At this moment, Lin Yu looked up and found a strange symbol carved on a tree not far away. The symbol was like a twisted snake, emitting a strange aura.
"Look, what is this?" Lin Yu pointed at the symbol, his voice filled with surprise and confusion. He stood up and approached the tree cautiously, his eyes fixed on the mysterious symbol.
Su Na heard Lin Yu's cry and, despite her fatigue, she moved closer to take a closer look. Her brow furrowed, her eyes narrowed as she pondered. "I think I've seen this symbol in an ancient book before, but I can't recall its meaning." Her voice was thick with confusion, her mind racing, trying to dig out relevant information from the depths of her memory.
Old Chen quickly took out his notebook and pencil and meticulously copied the symbol, applying every stroke with utmost care. "I'll study it carefully when I get home. It might be an important clue." His eyes were focused and determined, as if this symbol held the key to unlocking all the mysteries.
They continued walking through the forest, the fallen leaves crunching beneath their feet, as if the forest were whispering its secrets. The fog grew thicker, and their vision became increasingly blurred.
Deep in the forest, an abandoned cabin suddenly appeared before them. It looked like no one had lived there for a long time, its doors and windows tattered, as if eroded by time and wind and rain, devoid of life. Overgrown weeds and vines entwined themselves around the walls like snakes, lending the cabin a somewhat eerie atmosphere.
"Let's go in and take a look?" Lin Yu looked at the hut, his eyes full of curiosity and vigilance. His heartbeat quickened slightly, wondering what was hidden in this mysterious hut.
"Be careful." Lao Chen's voice was low and serious. He gripped the weapon tightly in his hand and approached the cabin with cautious steps.
They carefully pushed open the rickety door, and a foul, nauseating smell filled the air. A thick layer of dust filled the room, and sunlight streamed in through the broken windows, forming shafts of light that illuminated the dust particles floating in the air.
Suna covered her mouth and nose, trying hard to suppress her nausea, "This smells so bad." Her voice was a little unclear, but she still followed Lin Yu and Lao Chen into the house.
Scattered on the ground were worn papers and strange tools, as if some mysterious activity had once taken place here. Suna picked up a yellowed piece of paper, covered in intricate patterns and words. She stared intently at the patterns, trying to decipher their meaning.
"This seems to be some kind of experimental record." Suna said, her voice echoing in the empty hut with a hint of trembling.
Lin Yu found a shabby box in a corner, its surface covered in rust and scratches. He gently blew away the dust and carefully opened the box. A pungent smell emanated from the box. Inside were some damaged instruments and a bottle of liquid that emitted an eerie glow. The liquid swayed slightly in the bottle, as if it had life.
"This liquid looks dangerous," Lin Yu said, his voice full of caution. He unconsciously took a step back, fearing that the liquid would suddenly undergo some terrible transformation.
Just as they were about to investigate further, a loud noise suddenly came from outside the house. The sound was like the footsteps of many people and the low voices of talking, mixed together and making people feel creepy.
"Oh no, this could be dangerous," Lao Chen said, his expression suddenly becoming serious. He quickly put away his notebook and pencil and gripped his weapon tightly.
The three of them quickly hid in the dark of the house, not daring to make a sound. Lin Yu's heartbeat quickened rapidly, and he peeked out through the crack in the window, trying to see what was happening outside.
Suna's body trembled slightly, her hands clutching the corners of her clothes tightly, her heart filled with fear. "Who could it be? Could it be related to the castle and the cave?" She speculated in her heart, all kinds of terrible possibilities emerging in her mind.
Old Chen's breathing became heavy, his eyes fixed on the door, ready to respond to any possible danger at any time. "Everyone, remain quiet and don't act rashly," he whispered.
The footsteps were getting closer and closer, and the sound was getting clearer and clearer. Lin Yu saw a group of figures looming in the mist, their figures were distorted, and they seemed to be holding weapons in their hands.
"What should we do? If they find out, we might be finished." Suna's voice was tearful, and her heartbeat was particularly clear in the silence.
Lin Yu took a deep breath and tried to calm himself down. "Don't be afraid. Let's see what happens first."
At this moment, the footsteps suddenly stopped at the door of the hut...
