Chapter 153: Gloomy Night

Spooky Night

Lin Yu and Suna held their breath in the cave, their hearts pounding like the rhythmic beats of drums, each one threatening to burst through their chests. The cave was filled with a suffocating, oppressive atmosphere, its darkness thick enough to swallow them whole. They clung to the damp cave wall, daring not to move, fearing the slightest sound would attract the vicious men in black outside.

The footsteps of the men in black outside were getting closer and closer, the sound echoing in the narrow cave, each step like a heavy hammer hitting their nerves. Every sound of approaching made Lin Yu and Suna's muscles tense a little bit, and fear crawled along their spines like a cold venomous snake.

"Search carefully, they can't run far!" The voice of the man in black sounded outside the cave. The voice was full of ferocity and determination, as if a demon from hell was roaring.

Lin Yu and Su Na huddled together, Su Na's body trembling constantly, her teeth chattering uncontrollably. Her eyes were filled with extreme fear, as if she had seen the shadow of death slowly approaching.

"Don't be afraid, Suna, as long as we're not discovered, we still have a chance." Lin Yu comforted her softly. Although his voice was trembling, he tried to remain calm. He could feel Suna's fear and knew that he had to be strong and be her support.

At this moment, a huge rat rushed past their feet, and its furry body brushed against Suna's ankle. Suna could no longer suppress the fear in her heart and could not help but screaming "Ah".

The sound was particularly loud in the silent cave, instantly breaking the suffocating silence.

"Inside!" The voice of the man in black suddenly became excited, as if a pack of hungry wolves had found their wounded prey.

Lin Yu's heart sank, as if he had fallen into a bottomless abyss. He knew that there was no way back at this moment, and his only choice was to keep running forward.

"Run, Suna!" Lin Yu took Suna's hand and ran desperately into the depths of the cave.

The cave narrowed as they went deeper, forcing them to bend over, sometimes even crawling. From time to time, icy drops of water fell from overhead, dripping onto their necks and bringing a chill. The rocks and sharp stalactites on the cave walls were like sharp blades, threatening to cut them at any moment.

"Lin Yu, I can't walk anymore," Su Na cried, her voice filled with exhaustion and despair. Her legs felt as heavy as lead, and every step required all her strength.

"Hold on a little longer, Suna! We can't give up. As long as we have breath left, there is hope!" Lin Yu encouraged her. Although his voice was full of fatigue, it carried a firm strength.

Suddenly, a faint light appeared in front of them. The light seemed so small in the darkness, but it was like a beacon in the darkness, bringing them a glimmer of hope.

"It seems there is an exit!" Lin Yu said in surprise, a spark of hope instantly ignited in his eyes.

The two quickened their pace towards the light, only to discover a narrow cave entrance, barely wide enough for one person to pass through. Beyond the cave entrance lay a world covered in green vegetation, and the faint sound of birdsong could be heard.

"Suna, you go out first." Lin Yu said, his eyes firm and gentle.

Su Na hesitated for a moment, her eyes full of worry for Lin Yu.

"Don't hesitate, hurry up!" Lin Yu urged.

Suna nodded and carefully got out.

Just as Lin Yu was about to leave, the men in black caught up with him. Their figures were looming in the darkness, and the weapons in their hands flashed with cold light.

"Don't run!" The man in black reached out to grab Lin Yu.

Lin Yu struggled to break free and rushed towards the cave entrance desperately. At the last moment, he finally got out of the cave.

Outside lay a dense forest, its tall trees blotting out the sun. Sunlight filtered through the leaves, creating patches of light. The ground was covered with a thick carpet of fallen leaves, emitting a decaying smell. Lin Yu and Suna ran desperately, branches like countless hands scratching their faces and arms, blood seeping and dripping onto the ground.

Their footsteps echoed through the forest, startling flocks of birds. Suna's breathing was rapid and erratic, and her lungs felt like they were on fire.

"Lin Yu, I...I really can't run anymore." Suna panted and staggered.

"Suna, hold on!" Lin Yu turned around, pulled her up, and continued running forward.

After running for an unknown amount of time, they finally could no longer hear the voices of the men in black. The only sounds around them were the chirping of insects in the forest and their heavy breathing.

"Are we safe?" Suna asked breathlessly, her eyes full of uncertainty and fear.

"It should be safe for now." Lin Yu looked around and said cautiously. His eyes were full of fatigue, but he still didn't dare to relax.

However, they were unaware that this forest held many unknown dangers: traps hidden under fallen leaves, poisonous snakes coiled on branches, and their exhaustion and pain made them even more vulnerable.

A gust of cold wind blew, and the leaves rustled, as if whispering something.

"Lin Yu, I feel it's so eerie here." Su Na grabbed Lin Yu's arm tightly.

"Don't be afraid, Suna, we will find a way out." Lin Yu comforted her, but his heart was also filled with anxiety.

Suddenly, a huge owl flew over their heads and let out a shrill cry.

Suna screamed in fear.

"It's just an owl, don't be afraid." Lin Yu hugged Suna tightly.

They continued to grope their way forward in the forest, taking every step carefully.

The sky gradually darkened, and the forest became even more eerie. The howling of wolves in the distance made their hearts beat faster again.

"Lin Yu, what should we do?" Su Na's voice was tearful.

"Let's find a place to hide and leave after daybreak," said Lin Yu.

They found a relatively secluded place under a big tree and sat down to rest.

The forest at night was filled with all kinds of strange noises. Lin Yu and Suna hugged each other tightly, not daring to fall asleep.

Suddenly, they heard slow and heavy footsteps coming towards them...
