Chapter 154 Dark Night Crisis

Dark Night Crisis

The heavy footsteps grew closer, each one carrying immense force, shaking the ground and the very souls of Lin Yu and Suna. Their breathing nearly stopped, their bodies hunched against the tree trunk, not daring to breathe. Suna's body trembled constantly, clutching the hem of Lin Yu's clothes tightly, as if it were her only lifeline in this terrifying darkness.

"Lin Yu, what is this?" Su Na's voice trembled with deep fear. Her voice was as thin as a mosquito's, as if a louder voice would attract the unknown terrifying existence.

"I don't know, but don't make a sound," Lin Yu said in a low voice, his voice trembling, but he tried to remain calm. His eyes were fixed on the direction of the sound, his heart beating like a drum, and beads of sweat covered his forehead. In the darkness, his eyes struggled to adjust to the weak light, trying to see the impending danger.

The footsteps stopped not far from them, and a dead silence fell all around them. This deathly silence was even more eerie than the footsteps just now. Lin Yu could feel Su Na's heartbeat as rapid as a drum, her breathing was rapid and disordered, spraying on his neck with burning fear.

At that moment, a deep roar broke the silence. It sounded like it came from the depths of hell, full of anger and menace. The roar echoed through the forest, startling a flock of roosting birds, which fluttered and took off into the dark sky.

"Run!" Lin Yu yelled, grabbing Su Na's hand and running away again. Their footsteps clattered through fallen leaves and grass, shattering the stillness of the forest. Lin Yu's heart pounded wildly in his chest, as if trying to break free. His mind went blank, with only one thought: Run! The farther the better!

They ran blindly in the darkness, branches and thorns constantly scratching their bodies. A sharp branch scratched Lin Yu's cheek, causing a sting, but he no longer cared about the pain. Suna's skirt was torn by the thorns, and her calves were covered with bloody marks, but she gritted her teeth and followed closely behind Lin Yu.

Suddenly, Suna slipped and fell to the ground.

"Suna!" Lin Yu hurriedly turned around to help her. His voice was full of anxiety and worry.

Just then, a massive dark figure appeared before them. In the dim moonlight, they could clearly see it: a massive beast. Its body was tall and powerful, its muscles defined by the moonlight. Its eyes gleamed a yellow-green, and its fangs gleamed coldly in the moonlight, like deadly blades.

The beast exuded a strong, nauseating stench, and its breathing was heavy and rapid, bringing out a puff of hot air with each breath.

The beast approached step by step, its steps slow and firm, each step making the ground tremble slightly. Lin Yu protected Su Na behind him, his body trembling slightly, but his eyes were firm.

"Don't be afraid, I will protect you!" Lin Yu shouted, his voice trembling, but full of determination. He clenched his fists tightly, ready to meet the beast's attack.

However, facing such a powerful enemy, Lin Yu was also filled with fear. He didn't know if he could really protect Suna, and he didn't know if they could survive this life-and-death struggle. But he knew that he couldn't retreat at this moment and couldn't let Suna get hurt.

Su Na hid behind Lin Yu, tears welling up in her eyes. "Lin Yu, what should we do?" Her voice was filled with despair and fear.

Lin Yu took a deep breath and said, "Don't be afraid, Suna, we will definitely find a way to escape." His eyes were fixed on the beast, his brain working rapidly, thinking about the strategy to deal with it.

The beast opened its bloody mouth and roared again. Its sound was so deafening that the leaves around it trembled.

Lin Yu's heartbeat was getting faster and faster. He could feel his legs weakening, but he held on and didn't fall. "Suna, wait for it to pounce on us, then we'll run to the sides," Lin Yu whispered.

Su Na nodded, her eyes full of trust in Lin Yu.

The beast finally couldn't hold back any longer and pounced forward. Its silhouette was like a black cloud in the moonlight, instantly covering Lin Yu and Suna.

Lin Yu used all his strength to push Suna to the side. "Run!" he shouted.

He dodged in another direction. The beast missed its attack, turned around angrily, and pounced on Lin Yu again.

Lin Yu rolled on the ground, dodging the beast's attack. His clothes were torn by branches and his body was injured in many places, but he still struggled desperately.

Suna watched in horror, she wanted to help but didn't know how.

"Lin Yu, be careful!" Suna's scream rang out in the forest.

Lin Yu was unable to dodge and was scratched on the shoulder by the beast's claws. He groaned in pain, and blood instantly stained his clothes red.

But he did not give up. Taking advantage of the gap between the beast's attacks, he picked up a thick branch and stabbed it into the beast's eyes.

The beast took a few steps back in pain. Lin Yu took the opportunity to get up and continue fighting the beast.

At this moment, Lin Yu discovered a cave not far away. "Suna, run to the cave!" he shouted.

Upon hearing this, Suna ran towards the cave. Lin Yu slowly retreated towards the cave while attracting the beast's attention.

Finally, they managed to hide in the cave. The beast lingered outside the cave for a while, growled a few times in dissatisfaction, and then gradually left.

Lin Yu and Suna collapsed in the cave, gasping for breath. Their bodies were covered with scars and fatigue, but at least they were safe for the time being.

"Lin Yu, thank you." Suna said crying.

Lin Yu smiled weakly, "As long as you are okay."

The cave was filled with damp and cold air. They huddled together, waiting for the dawn to come...
