Danger in the Mist
Lin Yu and Suna cautiously advanced on the road shrouded in thick fog. Every step felt like stepping into an unknown abyss. The white mist enveloped them like a thick veil, restricting their vision to a few meters. Everything around them was blurred, and only their tense, rapid breathing echoed in the silence.
Suddenly, eerie laughter could be heard all around them. It seemed to come from the depths of hell, sharp and piercing, echoing continuously in the mist, like the laughter of countless ghosts. Every note was like a sharp needle, piercing their eardrums straight and making them shudder.
"Who is it? Come out!" Lin Yu shouted, his voice trembling, but he tried hard to appear tough. His heart was beating so fast that it seemed like it was about to burst out of his throat. Fear, like a cold, poisonous snake, slowly crawled down his spine, but he held Suna's hand tightly, trying to give her a little courage.
However, the only response he got was that strange laughter, floating in the fog, sometimes far away, sometimes near, as if teasing them.
Su Na clutched Lin Yu's arm tightly, her fingers turning white from excessive force. Her body trembled constantly, and she said in a trembling voice, "Lin Yu, I'm so scared. Where on earth is this place? Why are there such terrible noises?" Her eyes were filled with helplessness and fear, and tears welled up in her eyes.
"Don't be afraid, I'm here," Lin Yu comforted Suna. Although he was also filled with fear, he knew he had to be strong at this moment. He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself, while searching the fog, hoping to find the source of the laughter. But there was nothing to see except endless fog.
At that moment, a fierce wind roared past, like the roar of an enraged beast. It whipped the fog into strange vortexes. In this brief moment of confusion, some of the mist dispersed, and they saw a massive black shadow ahead. It towered and twisted, like darkness incarnate.
The shadow gradually became clearer, revealing a hideous monster. Its body was massive and misshapen, its muscles tangled, its skin like rough bark, covered in strange patterns. Its eyes gleamed blood-red, its fangs sharp as knives, and a foul stench emanated from its mouth. It lunged at them, claws and fangs bared, each movement stirring a gust of wind that swirled the surrounding mist.
Lin Yu pulled Suna and turned to run, saying, "We must find a way out!" His voice became intermittent due to fear and running. His mind was blank, with only one thought: escape from this terrible monster.
They desperately fled through the fog, the road beneath their feet bumpy and uneven, rocks and branches occasionally tripping them up. Lin Yu's breathing became rapid and heavy, each breath of air like a scorching flame, burning his lungs. Suna's steps became heavier and heavier, her physical strength almost exhausted, but fear drove her to keep running.
After running for who knows how long, their legs felt as heavy as lead and they almost lost all feeling. Just when they were feeling desperate, they finally found a dilapidated hut. The hut was looming in the fog, like a last resort.
"Go inside and hide!" Lin Yu gasped. He pushed the door open with force, and a rotten smell hit him. The two rushed into the house recklessly and then quickly closed the door.
The house was filled with a nauseating, putrid smell. Corners were cluttered with junk, shabby furniture scattered about, and covered in cobwebs and dust. The plaster on the walls had peeled away, revealing the rotting wood planks beneath. Faint light filtered through the broken windows, illuminating the devastating mess within.
As soon as they closed the door, they heard the monster roaring outside the house. The sound was deafening, as if it was going to destroy the entire house. The monster kept hitting the door, and every hit made the door tremble, as if it would break at any time.
"What should we do?" Suna's eyes were filled with fear and despair, and her voice was filled with tears. "Are we going to die here?"
Lin Yu searched for something to defend himself, his eyes quickly scanning the room. "Don't panic, we'll definitely find a way!" His voice was firm, but his heart was filled with anxiety. His hand touched a broken stick and gripped it tightly.
"As long as we hold on, there may be a turning point." Lin Yu comforted Suna, while listening vigilantly to the movements outside the house.
The monster's banging became more and more violent, cracks appeared on the door, and dust fell from the ceiling.
"Lin Yu, I'm scared." Suna curled up in the corner, her body shaking constantly.
Lin Yu walked over to Su Na and hugged her tightly. "Don't be afraid, no matter what happens, I will protect you." His eyes were full of determination, although he didn't know if he could really do it.
At this moment, the monster outside seemed even more angry, its roar shaking the whole hut to the point of collapse. Lin Yu and Suna's hearts beat like dense drumbeats. At this critical moment, their fate hung on a thread...
