Chapter 158: Survival from Desperate Situation

Survival in the Brink

Just when Lin Yu and Suna felt completely hopeless, as if the world was about to collapse before their eyes, Lin Yu's gaze inadvertently swept across the dim corner of the room. His eyes suddenly widened, and a glimmer of excitement flashed in his eyes that were filled with fear and fatigue.

"Suna, look, there's a secret door here! Maybe it's our way out." Lin Yu said excitedly, his voice trembling with excitement. His heartbeat instantly accelerated, as if he saw a ray of light in this endless darkness.

A glimmer of hope flashed through Suna's previously dull eyes. That hope was like a tiny spark in the darkness, faint but enough to ignite the desire to survive deep within them. "Then let's open it quickly!" she said, her voice filled with eagerness and anticipation.

The two men hurried to the secret door. It looked ancient and heavy, the rust and dust on it seeming to speak of a long-forgotten history. With all their might, they pushed it open. With a dull thud, a stale smell washed over them like a tide. It was a mixture of damp earth, rotting wood, and an indescribable, mysterious odor that made them cover their mouths and noses.

Behind the secret door was a narrow, damp passage, its outline only faintly visible in the darkness. The passage was extremely narrow, barely wide enough for one person to pass through. Water dripped continuously from the wall, making a dripping sound, like a countdown to death.

"I'll go first, you follow me." Lin Yu took a deep breath and said with courage. Although his voice was firm, his heart was full of anxiety. He knew that the road ahead was full of unknowns and dangers, but he had to carve out a way for Suna to survive.

Suna nodded, her eyes full of trust and dependence. "Okay, be careful." Her voice was soft and trembling.

Lin Yu walked into the passage cautiously, taking every step with extreme caution. The ground beneath his feet was muddy and slippery, and he had to hold on to the wall to maintain his balance. The moss and slime on the wall made his hands feel cold and nauseous.

Suna followed closely behind, her breathing rapid and disordered, her heartbeat was particularly clear in this narrow space. Their footsteps echoed in the corridor, as if they were the only sign of life in this dead silence.

As they walked, a strange sound suddenly emanated from the passage. It was faint at first, but grew clearer as they moved forward. It was a subtle rustling, like something crawling, with a creepy rhythm.

"Lin Yu, I'm scared." Su Na's voice was trembling uncontrollably, and her body involuntarily moved closer to Lin Yu. All kinds of terrifying imaginations involuntarily emerged in her mind, and her heart was beating like a drum.

"Don't be afraid, it might just be the wind." Although Lin Yu said this, his heart was also filled with tension and fear. His throat became dry and he gripped the stick in his hand even tighter.

At this moment, a giant spider fell from overhead, landing right in front of Lin Yu. The spider was massive, its hairy legs dancing non-stop, its black eyes flashing with an eerie light. A stream of white silk spurted out of its mouth, sending chills down one's spine.

Lin Yu was startled and stepped back quickly, almost falling to the ground. "Ah!" He couldn't help but scream.

"Ah!" Suna screamed, her voice echoing in the passage, full of despair and fear.

Lin Yu gathered himself and forced himself to calm down. He knew that if he panicked at this moment, they would be dead. He raised the stick in his hand, staring at the spider intently, his heart beating rapidly.

"Go to hell!" Lin Yu shouted loudly and hit the spider hard.

The spider nimbly dodged his attack and pounced on him. Lin Yu dodged sideways and swung the stick in his hand again.

After a fierce fight, Lin Yu finally hit the spider's vital point. The spider struggled for a few times and fell to the ground, motionless.

Lin Yu was breathing heavily, sweat dripping from his forehead. "It's okay, Suna." He said with a hint of fatigue in his voice.

Suna's body was still shaking, but she tried to calm herself down. "Okay, let's keep going," she said.

They continued to move forward in the narrow and damp passage, each step filled with fear and anxiety.

Finally, they saw a ray of light at the end of the passage. Although the light was weak, it seemed so dazzling and warm in the long darkness.

"We're almost there, Suna." Lin Yu quickened his pace, his heart full of anticipation.

When they emerged from the passage, they found themselves in an unfamiliar place. It was a dense forest, and sunlight filtered through the leaves, creating patches of light. The trees were tall and ancient, their branches intertwined to form a canopy of green. The grass was filled with unknown wildflowers, vibrant in color and fragrant.

However, they did not let down their guard. In this seemingly beautiful and peaceful forest, no one knew what kind of danger was hidden.

"Lin Yu, where are we?" Suna asked, her eyes full of confusion and worry.

Lin Yu looked around, shook his head and said, “I don’t know, but at least we are temporarily free from that monster and spider.”

They walked cautiously in the forest, every step was full of vigilance. Suddenly, a gust of wind blew, and the leaves rustled, as if telling them some secrets.

"Lin Yu, I always feel like something is weird here." Su Na grabbed Lin Yu's arm tightly.

"Don't be afraid, Suna, we will find a way out." Lin Yu comforted her, but his own heart was also filled with anxiety.

Just then, they heard a low roar coming from the distance...
