The Mysterious Tracker
The footsteps stopped abruptly at the doorway of the cabin, and time seemed to freeze at that moment. Lin Yu, Suna, and Lao Chen's hearts were in their throats. They held their breath, their bodies tense, not daring to make a sound. Lin Yu's heartbeat was like a drum, each beat pounding against his chest. He gripped the weapon tightly, his knuckles white from the effort. Sweat dripped from his forehead and into his eyes, the stinging sensation causing him to squint slightly, but he didn't dare blink, for fear of missing even the slightest movement.
Suna hid in a corner, her body trembling uncontrollably. Her breath was short and rapid, and her heart felt like it was about to burst out of her throat. All kinds of terrifying thoughts kept flashing through her mind. "Who is this person? Is he an enemy or a friend? If he is an enemy, what should we do?" Fear was like an invisible hand, tightly strangling her throat.
Old Chen's face was gloomy. He stared at the door, his finger on the trigger, ready to shoot at any time. He was secretly thinking about how to cover Lin Yu and Suna's escape if the situation got bad.
After a while, the door slowly opened with a creepy creaking sound. A figure walked in, the sunlight streaming in from behind him, elongating his figure and making it appear particularly eerie. Lin Yu clenched his weapon, muscles tense, ready to strike at any moment.
A hooded figure entered, his face shrouded in shadow, making it impossible to discern. He was tall and thin, exuding a mysterious and menacing aura. He surveyed the room, his steps slow and gentle, like a ghost.
"Come out, I know you are here." The hooded man's voice was low and hoarse, as if coming from the depths of hell, echoing in the silent little house, making people shudder.
Lin Yu and the others looked at each other, their eyes full of hesitation and vigilance. They didn't know whether they should trust this stranger who suddenly appeared, and their hearts were filled with doubts and uneasiness.
"Don't hide, I mean no harm." The hooded man continued, his voice a little softer, but still making people unable to let down their guard.
Finally, Lin Yu took a deep breath and decided to walk out. His steps were firm and steady, his eyes fixed on the hooded man. "Who are you? How did you know we were here?" His voice was filled with questioning and caution.
The hooded figure chuckled softly, a sound that seemed particularly eerie in this gloomy environment. "I'm here to help you. I've been watching your actions. This place is full of dangers and secrets." There was a hint of mystery in his voice.
Suna looked at him warily and stepped out from the shadows. "Why should we trust you? You showed up so suddenly, who knows what your purpose is?" Her voice trembled, but she still tried to appear strong.
The hooded figure removed his hood, revealing a weathered face. His face was covered in wrinkles, and his eyes were deep and melancholy, as if he had experienced countless hardships. "You don't have to believe me, but continuing to explore alone will only put you in greater danger." His eyes were sincere and firm.
Old Chen stepped forward and carefully observed the hooded man's expression. "Then can you tell us what you know?" His voice was low and serious.
The hooded man looked at them and said, "Follow me, I'll tell you slowly on the way." He turned and walked out of the hut, his figure looming in the mist.
Despite their doubts, Lin Yu and the others decided to follow him. They cautiously left the cabin and ventured deeper into the forest. The fog grew thicker around them. The trees were tall and dense, their branches intertwined, forming a green canopy that nearly blocked out the sunlight. Only occasionally did a few rays of light filter through the leaves, forming golden beams that illuminated the mossy ground.
They followed the hooded man through the forest. The ground beneath their feet was damp and soft, and from time to time, rotten leaves and branches sank in, making a "puffing" sound. Strange noises could be heard from the surrounding bushes from time to time, as if something was secretly watching them.
"This forest hides a huge laboratory, and those strange creatures and mysterious phenomena are all related to it." The hooded man said as he walked, his voice particularly clear in the silent forest.
"Laboratory? What is it used for?" Lin Yu asked, his eyes scanning the surroundings vigilantly, the weapon in his hand never being put down.
The hooded figure was silent for a moment, as if recalling some painful past event. "It's where forbidden experiments were conducted. They tried to manipulate some unknown force, but it led to uncontrollable consequences." His voice was filled with helplessness and anger.
Suddenly, there was a movement in the bushes nearby, and the leaves rustled, as if something huge was moving inside.
"Look out!" the hooded figure shouted.
Lin Yu and the others instantly became nervous, standing in a circle with their backs to each other, looking around vigilantly.
Suna's heartbeat quickened rapidly. Her hands tightly grasped the magic props, ready to cast a spell at any time. "What is it?" Her voice trembled.
Lao Chen stared at the bushes, his finger firmly on the trigger. "Prepare for battle!" he shouted.
At this moment, a huge black beast rushed out from the bushes. Its body was tall, its hair stood up, its eyes flashed red fiercely, and it opened its bloody mouth, revealing its sharp teeth, and let out a deafening roar.
Lin Yu raised his weapon without hesitation and rushed towards the beast. "Don't be afraid, everyone, come together!" he shouted.
Suna also cast a spell, and rays of light shot towards the beast.
Lao Chen fired shots from the side, providing cover for Lin Yu and Suna.
The beast twisted its body wildly under their attack and kept pouncing on them. For a moment, the forest was filled with shouts of killing and the roars of wild beasts.
After a fierce fight, they finally succeeded in repelling the beast, but everyone was panting, their bodies covered with sweat and wounds.
"Hurry up, it's not safe here!" the hooded man shouted, leading them deeper into the forest.
As they went deeper, the scene in the forest became even more bizarre. The trees became distorted, as if twisted by some sinister force. Strange symbols and patterns appeared on the ground, emitting an eerie glow.
"What is this?" Suna asked in horror.
"This is the seal mark of the laboratory, which means we are not far from our destination." said the hooded man.
At this moment, a sinister laugh sounded in the forest, echoing in their ears, making people's hair stand on end...
