Chapter 164: The Attic Mystery

Attic Mystery

Lin Yu and Suna stood at the door of the attic. The cold air rushed in like an icy tide, making them shiver. Suna's body trembled involuntarily. She grasped Lin Yu's arm tightly, and her fingers turned white from excessive force.

"Lin Yu, I'm really scared." Suna's voice trembled, like a leaf falling in the wind, filled with helplessness and fear. Her eyes were wide, and her pupils reflected her extreme fear of the unknown. Every word that fell from her trembling lips was filled with deep anxiety.

Lin Yu took a deep breath and tried to calm himself. He could sense Suna's fear and knew he had to be strong. "Don't be afraid, Suna, let's go in together." His voice was firm, but his heart was beating fast. However, to give Suna courage, he tried to sound confident.

They entered the attic cautiously, each step filled with caution. Darkness enveloped them like thick ink, seemingly swallowing them whole. This darkness wasn't just any black, but a suffocating, despairing depth. It was as if they had entered a completely unknown world, where every breath of air was filled with mystery and danger.

Suddenly, an oil lamp lit up automatically, its dim light flickering in the darkness. Its feeble glow, like a firefly in the darkness, barely illuminated a small area. The flickering light cast distorted shadows that danced across the walls and floor, adding to the eerie atmosphere.

They saw all around them piled high with strange objects, all seeming even more mysterious under the dim light. There were ancient books with worn spines and yellowed pages, seemingly carrying countless forgotten secrets; mysterious magical instruments emitting a dim glow, their strange shapes making their purpose incomprehensible; and there were also some unknown animal specimens, their shriveled bodies and hollow eyes eerie.

"What are these?" Suna asked doubtfully, with a hint of fear and curiosity in her voice. Her eyes swept over these objects, and every time she saw a new thing, her fear increased.

At that moment, a book automatically flipped open, and a strange light flickered on the pages. Like ghostly eyes, the light flickered, sometimes brighter and sometimes darker, sending a chill down your spine. Strange symbols and patterns danced across the pages, as if alive, constantly shifting shape and position.

Lin Yu leaned in to observe, his brow furrowed as he tried to decipher the mysterious symbols. "This seems like some kind of ancient spell," he said in a low, solemn voice, filled with doubt and caution. He could sense a powerful and mysterious force within these symbols, but he couldn't grasp their true meaning.

"Lin Yu, let's get out of here," Su Na said in fear. Her voice was filled with tears, and she was on the verge of collapse. Everything here made her feel unbearable, and she just wanted to escape this terrible place as soon as possible.

However, when they turned around, they found that the door had been closed at some point. The ordinary door now seemed like an insurmountable barrier, isolating them from the outside world.

"Oh no, we're trapped!" Lin Yu said anxiously, his heartbeat accelerating and cold sweat breaking out on his forehead. He quickly rushed to the door and pulled hard on the door handle, but the door didn't budge.

At this moment, a sinister laugh rang out from the attic. It seemed to come from the depths of hell, filled with evil and mockery. "Hahahaha, now that you're in, don't even think about leaving!"

Suna covered her ears and screamed, "Who? Who's there?"

Lin Yu looked around and shouted, "Who the hell are you? Come out if you dare!"

The laughter still echoed in the attic, growing louder and louder, as if countless demons were laughing at their helplessness.

Lin Yu's eyes fell on an open book, and the symbols on it flashed more frequently. "Is this some kind of curse?" he muttered to himself.

Su Na leaned against Lin Yu, her body trembling constantly: "Lin Yu, what should we do? I don't want to die here."

Lin Yu held Suna's hand tightly, trying to comfort her: "Don't be afraid, Suna, we will definitely find a way out."

They began to search for clues in the attic, leaving no corner untouched. Lin Yu found some strange portraits with distorted faces, as if they were in great pain.

"These paintings seem to imply something," said Lin Yu.

Su Na looked at the portraits and felt more and more frightened: "Lin Yu, I feel that this place is getting more and more terrifying."

Suddenly, a cold wind blew from behind them, carrying with it a foul smell.

"What's that smell?" Suna couldn't help but dry heave.

Lin Yu turned around cautiously, but could see nothing. At this moment, the lights began to flicker, sometimes bright and sometimes dim, as if they would go out at any time.

"Oh no! If this light goes out, we will be in greater danger," said Lin Yu.

Just then, they heard a low growling sound, which seemed to come from the depths of the attic.

"What the hell is this?" Suna's voice was filled with despair.

Lin Yu took a deep breath: "No matter what it is, we have to face it."

They continued to grope in the darkness, each step filled with fear and uncertainty. Suddenly, Suna stepped on something and almost fell.

"What is it?" Lin Yu squatted down to check and found it was an ancient box.

They opened the box, and a pungent smell emanated from it. Inside the box was a black stone with strange patterns carved on it.

"Could this be the key to solving the mystery?" Lin Yu picked up the stone and observed it carefully.

At this moment, the lights went out completely, and the attic fell into darkness...
