Chapter 173: Difficult Choice

Hard Choices

Lin Yu and Suna struggled to crawl out of the crevice, their bodies numb and sore from being crouched for so long. Lin Yu's clothes were torn in several places, and Suna's hair was disheveled, covered in dust and cobwebs.

They gasped for breath, trying to calm their fear. The air around them was still filled with tension and oppression, as if the thrilling encounter with the monster was not over yet.

They continued to grope their way forward in the passage, each step filled with caution and uneasiness. Two forks appeared in the road ahead, like two unknown choices placed before them by fate.

One fork in the road was shrouded in a faint mist, floating lightly like a veil, making the passage seem eerie and eerie. A faint, mysterious and dangerous aura permeated the mist, sending shivers down one's spine. From another fork in the road, the faint sound of flowing water emanated, a sound that was particularly clear in the silence, as if beckoning them.

"Lin Yu, which way should we go?" Suna's voice was filled with fatigue and confusion. Her eyes wandered, switching back and forth between the two forked paths, unable to make a decision. Her hands were tightly clasped together, her fingers turning white from excessive force.

Lin Yu frowned, his gaze darting back and forth between the two forked roads. His mind raced, pondering the possible consequences of each path. After a moment's contemplation, he said, "Let's take the foggy one. Maybe we'll find the exit." His voice was firm, but inside he was filled with uncertainty and worry.

Suna hesitated, gazing at the mist-filled passage, a strange fear welling up in her heart. "But it looks so dangerous," she said, her voice trembling with a hint of resistance. She imagined the countless unknown horrors hidden in the mist, and involuntarily took a small step back.

Lin Yu sensed Suna's fear and stepped forward to hold her hand. Her hands were cold and trembling, but he squeezed them firmly, trying to give her some warmth and courage. "Don't be afraid, we're together." His eyes were gentle and firm, and Suna felt a little more at ease.

They took a deep breath, mustering their courage and walked into the foggy passage. As soon as they entered, the mist wrapped around them like icy tentacles, quickly enveloping them. The mist grew thicker, blurring their vision, leaving them only a few steps away.

"Lin Yu, I can't see you." Suna shouted in panic. Her voice echoed in the fog, sounding particularly helpless. She stretched out her hands and groped in the air, trying to catch Lin Yu's figure.

"Suna, don't panic, I'm here," Lin Yu shouted. His voice was vague in the mist, as if it came from far away. He tried to stay calm, responding to Suna while cautiously moving forward.

Suddenly, they heard a strange sound of footsteps. The footsteps were light and slow, but they were particularly clear in the silent passage. Every step seemed to step on their hearts, causing their heartbeats to accelerate instantly.

"What's that sound?" Su Na's voice was full of fear, and her body was tightly pressed against Lin Yu, as if only in this way could she find a sense of security.

Lin Yu stopped and listened carefully. The footsteps seemed to be not far behind them, following slowly, as if teasing them. "I don't know, but we have to be careful." His voice was low and nervous, and he held his sword tightly in his hand.

Their breathing became rapid and their heartbeats were as loud as drums in their ears.

"Lin Yu, could it be that monster?" Su Na's voice was filled with tears, and the horrible appearance of the monster involuntarily appeared in her mind.

"Don't think too much, maybe it's just the echo in this passage." Lin Yu comforted, but his own heart was also full of doubts and fears.

They continued to walk forward, the sound of their footsteps following them like a shadow. The fog grew thicker, as if it were carrying them into a boundless white world.

"Lin Yu, I'm really scared." Suna's voice was almost pleading.

Lin Yu held Suna tightly in his arms, "Don't be afraid, Suna, I'm here." Although his voice was firm, he was silently praying in his heart that he could get out of the fog as soon as possible.

Suddenly, a vague figure appeared in front of us, looming in the mist and unable to be seen clearly.

"Who is it?" Lin Yu shouted loudly, with a hint of vigilance in his voice.

However, the figure did not answer, but just stood there quietly.

Lin Yu and Suna's heartbeats instantly reached their throats. They didn't know whether this mysterious figure was a friend or foe...
