Chapter 187: Battle of Life and Death

Battle of Life and Death

Lin Yu, Suna, and the old man all gasped in shock at the sight of this enormous monster. The monster, like a small mountain, towered before them, emitting a chilling aura. Its skin was as rough as stone, covered in strange patterns, like cursed symbols. Its blood-red eyes, like blazing fire, were filled with boundless fury and murderous intent. Enormous fangs protruded from its mouth, flashing with a cold light, each one like a deadly blade.

Lin Yu gritted his teeth, a mixture of fear and courage mingling within him. He knew that retreating at this moment would mean death, and only by facing it bravely could he have a glimmer of hope. "We cannot retreat. We must defeat it!" he shouted, his voice trembling with determination. His gaze fixed on the monster, his heartbeat rapidly accelerating, threatening to burst from his chest. But his mind kept replaying the innocent villagers who had perished and the terrifying Tai Sui curse, only solidifying his resolve.

The old man also tightened his grip on the dagger, his eyes revealing a resolute determination to face death. "Yes, fight!" His voice was deep and powerful, like a final challenge to fate. He recalled the hardships and dangers he had faced in his long life. This time, he would not retreat. His arms trembled slightly with tension, but his steps showed no sign of retreat.

Although Suna was afraid, the courage within her was ignited by the determination of Lin Yu and the old man. "I will fight with you!" she cried out, her voice trembling slightly, but more courageous. Her hands clenched into fists, her body trembling slightly with fear, but her eyes gleamed with determination. She knew this was a fight for survival and justice, and she could not retreat.

The monster roared and lunged at them. The sound was like thunder exploding through the valley, making their eardrums buzz. Its movements were as swift as lightning, stirring up a gust of wind that sent leaves and dust flying everywhere. Lin Yu quickly dodged to the side, his body tumbling on the ground, narrowly avoiding the monster's fatal blow. At the same time, he quickly picked up a thick branch, which seemed to transform into a sharp spear in his hand. He stabbed at the monster's eyes, with a single thought in his mind: to inflict damage.

The monster roared in pain, its fury growing even stronger. Its eyes burned with rage as it attacked them even more frantically. Its claws lashed out, each swing carrying immense force, tearing the air apart with a sharp whistling sound. The old man seized the opportunity to circle behind the monster, his steps light and nimble, like a seasoned cheetah. He stabbed the monster's legs with his dagger, hoping to weaken its mobility.

"Ah!" The old man was thrown out by the monster with a swing of his arm. His body flew in the air like a falling leaf, and then hit a tree heavily. The tree shook violently, and leaves fell one after another.

"Old man!" Lin Yu and Suna exclaimed. Their voices were filled with concern and worry.

Lin Yu's heart was filled with rage, his eyes turning red with anger. "You damn monster!" He roared, charging at the monster again. A rage burned in his heart, a rage that made him forget his fear and filled him with strength. Every move he made was filled with determination, and every attack was filled with hatred for the monster.

Suna, on the other hand, frantically searched for something to attack the monster. Her eyes darted around, her heart pounding. Her hand groped the ground until it stumbled upon a sharp stone. A glimmer of hope flashed in her eyes, and she threw it at the monster with all her might.

The stone hit the monster's head with a dull thud. The monster's movements slowed down for a moment, and a trace of confusion and pain flashed in its eyes.

Lin Yu seized the opportunity to climb onto the monster's back. His hands gripped the creature's rough skin tightly, his fingers turning white from the effort. He punched the monster's neck fiercely, using all his strength in each blow. He had only one conviction in his heart: he had to defeat the monster and protect Suna and the old man.

The monster twisted its body in pain, trying to throw Lin Yu off. Its body shook violently, as if there was an earthquake. Lin Yu held the monster tightly, not daring to let go. He could feel the monster's strength struggling, but he gritted his teeth and refused to let go.

After a fierce struggle, the monster finally fell to the ground, motionless. Its body slumped, raising a cloud of dust. Lin Yu slid off the monster's back, his body so exhausted that he could barely stand.

Lin Yu and Suna hurried to the old man, their faces full of anxiety and concern.

"I'm fine, just a minor skin injury," the old man said weakly. His face was pale, but his eyes still shone with determination.

Lin Yu breathed a sigh of relief, "That's great, you must hold on."

Tears welled up in Suna's eyes. "It's all my fault. I got you hurt."

The old man smiled slightly and said, "Silly child, this is not your fault. We must continue to move forward and complete our mission."

"Great, let's keep going," Lin Yu said. His voice was tired but full of determination.

After a short rest, they supported each other and continued walking towards the temple on the back mountain. The surrounding forest was still eerie and terrifying, but they walked without hesitation. They knew that only by finding a way to restrain Tai Sui could they save more people and end this terrible disaster.
