Chapter 195: Rushing to the Altar

Rushing to the Altar

Under the bright moonlight, the three stood in the empty wilderness, staring at each other. The cold moonlight shone upon them like water, illuminating their pale, exhausted faces. The wind blew quietly, ruffling their clothes and hair, bringing a slight chill.

"Are we really going to the altar on the mountaintop? Perhaps it's just a fruitless adventure." Suna's voice was filled with hesitation and fear. Her eyes wandered, and she clasped her arms tightly, as if this would bring her a sense of security. She gazed at the towering mountaintop, shrouded in darkness, filled with fear of the unknown. Every time she thought of the possible dangers, her body trembled.

Lin Yu gazed at the distant mountaintop, its silhouette grim and forbidding in the moonlight. He took a deep breath and said firmly, "We have no way out. How can we know if we can't do it if we don't try?" His eyes gleamed with determination. Though his heart was filled with fear and anxiety, he knew he couldn't retreat now. He recalled the horrors and tribulations he had endured along the way. Those images flashed through his mind, further solidifying his resolve to lift the curse and save everyone.

The old man nodded slightly, his weathered face etched with wrinkles, each one a story of vicissitudes. "The child is right. This is our only chance." His voice was low and hoarse, carrying the calmness and helplessness of someone who had experienced the world. He looked up at the mountaintop, a flicker of determination in his eyes. "Even if we die, we must die a worthy death."

So, they mustered their courage and headed towards the top of the mountain. The mountain path was rugged and difficult to walk on, filled with rocks of varying sizes and deep ravines. Their footsteps seemed extremely heavy on this difficult mountain road, and each step required a huge effort.

The sound of the wind around them was like the whispers of vengeful spirits, sometimes high, sometimes low, sometimes slow, sometimes fast, making people feel creepy. Suna followed Lin Yu closely, her heartbeat was particularly clear on the silent mountain road. "I feel like something is following us." Suna's voice trembled, and her eyes kept scanning the surroundings, as if something terrible would pounce out of the darkness at any time.

Lin Yu turned his head and gave her a reassuring look. "Don't be afraid, it might just be the wind." But in reality, he was also filled with anxiety. He held the stick tightly in his hand, as if it were his only weapon. Every time he walked a distance, he would stop and listen carefully to the movements around him, his nerves were extremely tense.

The path grew steeper, forcing them to use both hands and feet to climb. Suna's hands were cut by rocks, bleeding profusely, but she gritted her teeth and remained silent. The old man's strength gradually faded, and his breathing grew heavier.

"Everyone be careful, it's very slippery here." Lin Yu reminded, his voice seemed a little erratic in the wind.

"I... I can't crawl anymore." Suna said in a crying voice.

"Hold on, Suna, we'll be there soon." Lin Yu encouraged her.

When they finally reached the altar on the top of the mountain, they found that the place where Tai Sui was supposed to be placed was empty.

"How could this happen?" The old man's eyes widened, his face filled with astonishment and despair. He rushed to the altar and looked around for Tai Sui.

Lin Yu was also stunned, his heart filled with confusion and anxiety. "What on earth is going on? Are all our efforts in vain?" he muttered to himself, his hands hanging limply at his sides.

At this moment, a mysterious voice sounded in their ears: "Do you think you can lift the curse like this? You are too naive!" The voice seemed to come from all directions, and seemed to sound directly in their minds, with endless ridicule and coldness.

Lin Yu suddenly raised his head and shouted, "Who are you? Come out!"

Su Na was so scared that she hid behind Lin Yu, her body shaking constantly.

The old man looked around warily and gripped the dagger tighter in his hand.

“Hahahaha…” The mysterious voice sounded again, accompanied by a sinister laugh, “You cannot escape the clutches of fate. Tai Sui’s curse will be with you forever!”

Lin Yu roared angrily: "No, we will definitely find a way to lift the curse!"

"Then give it a try, but you don't have much time..." The voice gradually faded away, leaving the three of them on the empty mountain top, falling into deep despair.
