Survival in the Mist
Darkness, like thick ink, intertwined with the eerie laughter, enveloping them tightly. Every laugh was like a sharp needle, piercing their eardrums and stirring the fear deep within them. Lin Yu felt his scalp tingle, as if countless tiny insects were crawling on it. A suffocating unease, so intense it was almost suffocating, exploded in his heart like a bomb.
"Everyone, don't panic. Stay calm!" He shouted with all his might, his voice trembling, yet filled with an urgent desire to stabilize the situation. However, the cry was instantly and mercilessly swallowed by the darkness, like a stone dropped into the deep sea, not even a ripple was stirred. He didn't know if the sound would reach his companions' ears. At this moment, he was extremely anxious, filled with worry for his companions' safety. All kinds of terrible thoughts kept flashing through his mind: "In this pitch-black darkness, everyone must not get separated! If something happens to anyone, how can I forgive myself..."
Suna was completely terrified by the darkness, tears welling uncontrollably in her eyes, threatening to burst out at any moment. "Lin Yu, I'm scared..." Her voice trembled, thick with sobs, each word forced from a throat choked with fear. In her utter terror, her legs gave way, and she could barely stand. But she fought to steady herself, her hands groping in the darkness like a drowning person desperately grasping for a lifeline, praying in her heart that she might touch her companion's body, for some comfort.
The director suppressed the overwhelming fear within him. Drawing on the experience and composure he had accumulated over the years in various dangerous situations, he tried to make his voice sound firm and powerful. "Everyone, move towards me. Don't move. Avoid getting hurt!" He shouted as he moved slowly and cautiously, his hands feeling the way forward like a blind man, each step carefully, as if the abyss could fall beneath him at any moment. At this moment, he knew in his heart that he must remain calm and be the team's backbone in this dark and desperate situation. Otherwise, everyone would be completely plunged into the abyss of no return.
The mysterious woman closed her eyes tightly, concentrating her full attention. Using the witch clan's unique senses, she attempted to detect the faint presence around her, searching for the mysterious figure. "There's something strange about this smoke; it seems to be interfering with our perception." She tried to keep her voice calm, but her slightly trembling voice betrayed her inner confusion and nervousness. Countless questions swirled in her mind: "What exactly is this smoke? What power lies behind it? Why is it interfering with our perception so strongly?"
The old man tightly gripped his staff, its tip gleaming faintly, a pitifully faint light shimmering through the endless darkness, as if threatened to be swallowed by the darkness at any moment. His voice trembled violently, both because the previous battle with the mysterious figure had already exhausted him physically and because of a deep fear of the unknown darkness and smoke. He knew that in this perilous environment, any negligence could bring about catastrophic disaster.
Just as everyone was struggling to locate each other in the darkness, a chilling wind blew past. It felt like it was blowing from the depths of hell, carrying a bone-chilling chill that seemed to penetrate the marrow, instantly giving everyone goosebumps. With his keen intuition, Lin Yu instantly sensed the danger approaching at an extremely fast speed. Without hesitation, he shouted, "Be careful! Something's coming!"
As soon as the words left his mouth, a dark shadow shot out from the smoke like a flash of black lightning, charging straight at the director with a clear target. The director felt a powerful gust of wind coming towards him, and subconsciously dodged to the side. But the shadow was too fast, and despite his quick reaction, it still grazed his arm. The sharp touch was felt, and a bloody mark instantly appeared on his arm, and blood gushed out. "Damn it!" The director cursed with gritted teeth, his heart filled with anger and resentment. "What on earth is this mysterious shadow? Why is it so difficult to deal with it!"
Lin Yu followed the sound and, without hesitation, brandished his weapon as he rushed towards the shadow. "I'm here, come at me!" He roared, trying to distract the shadow with his voice. At the same time, his eyes were fixed on the slightest movement in the darkness, trying to track the shadow's movements, even though it was a nearly impossible task in the darkness.
Seeing this, the mysterious woman quickly formed hand seals, muttered something, and unleashed the unique tracking spell of the Wu Clan. Her forehead was already covered with dense beads of sweat, each one gleaming in the dim light, as if reflecting her current nervousness. "I can roughly sense its location. Everyone, follow my instructions!" She shouted with all her might, concentrating all her energy to convey the information she had sensed about the shadow's location to her companions as accurately as possible.
The old man waved his staff constantly. With each wave, rays of light emanated from the tip of the staff. These rays flickered in the smoke, attempting to dispel the terrifying darkness and create favorable conditions for everyone. However, the rays of light seemed so weak in the thick smoke that they could only briefly tear through a small piece of darkness before being quickly swallowed by the darkness again.
Suna tried her best to maintain the protective spell in the rear. Although her heart was filled with fear and her legs were shaking with fear, she still held on and kept encouraging herself in her heart: "I will protect everyone and must not let anyone get hurt!" Her hands trembled slightly due to tension and fatigue, but her eyes were extremely firm, as if this firm look could give her strength to let her hold this last line of defense.
