A New Journey: Exploring the Secrets of Miao Gushu
Lin Yu and Suna had just finished their castle adventure, still reeling from a complex mix of triumph and exhaustion, when they received a new mission. Upon learning they were to explore the origins of the mysterious Miao Gu technique, one of southern Yunnan's three great evils, and verify its ability to infect the flesh, their eyes instantly grew solemn and focused.
Lin Yu subconsciously tightened the sword at his waist, the hilt rubbing against his hand, as if giving him strength. His eyes shone with determination and curiosity. "I've heard of Miaojiang Gu magic for a long time, but I've never truly witnessed it. This mission won't be easy." He was eager to uncover the secrets of this mysterious Gu magic, yet also harbored a subtle fear of the unknown dangers it held. After all, rumors of Miaojiang Gu magic were always filled with strangeness and horror, each story seeming to warn those who ventured into it of the potential despair they faced.
Suna nodded slightly, her delicate brow furrowing slightly, like a willow trembling in the breeze. "Yes, it's said that witchcraft is mysterious and unpredictable, and is considered taboo and mysterious in the Miao region. We must proceed with caution." Although she felt a little uneasy, her years of adventure were like a solid armor, allowing her to quickly adjust and prepare for the new challenge. She knew that in such a mysterious mission, any negligence could lead to disaster.
The two packed their bags and immediately set off for Miaojiang. Along the way, the mountains rolled and undulated like sleeping dragons, shrouded in clouds and mist, as if draping a veil over the earth. As they approached Miaojiang, the air seemed to thicken with a mysterious aura, like an invisible hand gently twitching their nerves, making them increasingly aware that they were about to enter an unknown and dangerous territory.
When they finally set foot in Miao territory, the scenery before them was both beautiful and mysterious. Surrounded by verdant mountains and clear waters, it felt like a meticulously crafted painting by nature. Yet, beneath this tranquility and beauty, a mysterious and secluded atmosphere lurked. Wooden houses, scattered throughout the mountains, their unique architectural style exemplified the wisdom and traditions of the Miao people.
They first arrived at an ancient Miao village. Upon seeing them, the villagers' eyes betrayed a mixture of wariness and curiosity. Those eyes, like probes scrutinizing outsiders, were filled with wariness. Lin Yu and Suna quickly explained their purpose, speaking sincerely, hoping to learn clues about Gu magic from the villagers.
A white-haired elder slowly approached, his face marked by the passage of time. His eyes, deep and seasoned, seemed to hold countless stories. He surveyed the two men, a gaze that seemed to penetrate their souls. After a long pause, he spoke slowly, "The art of witchcraft has always been shrouded in mystery, and the less outsiders know about it, the better. But since you harbor no ill intentions, I will tell you a little. Legend has it that witchcraft originated in ancient times. The Miao people, in their struggle with nature, discovered a curious connection between insects and poisons. In their difficult lives, they constantly observed and experimented, and through generations of transmission and research, they gradually developed the art of witchcraft." The elder's voice was low and hoarse, as if it came from the depths of time, carrying an ancient and mysterious allure.
Lin Yu hurriedly asked: "Can that witchcraft really poison the skin and flesh?" His eyes were full of anxiety, and his heart was filled with curiosity and fear about this question.
The old man frowned slightly, his expression as solemn as the sky before a storm. He spoke slowly, "There are many types of Gu techniques. Some Gu insects can indeed be manipulated through special methods to cause harm. If you are infected with certain powerful Gu, the poison will bite your flesh and skin. However, those who truly understand the advanced Gu techniques are few and far between. Most of them live in seclusion in the mountains and will not easily show up. They guard the secrets of Gu techniques and are wary of outside interference."
Suna then asked, "Then where can we find someone who understands witchcraft? We want to learn more and solve this mystery." Her eyes were full of determination and persistence, as if she would not give up until the secret of witchcraft was uncovered.
The old man pondered for a moment, his expression as if recalling a distant, hazy memory. He slowly raised his hand and pointed toward the deep mountains behind the village. "I heard that deep in those mountains, there lives a hermit Gu woman who knows many secrets of Gu magic. But the roads in those mountains are not only rugged, but also filled with all kinds of dangerous Gu insects and traps. If you decide to go there, be extremely careful. The mountains are like a vast maze, filled with unknown dangers. If you're not careful, you could end up in a place from which there's no return."
Lin Yu and Suna exchanged a look of determination. They saw fearlessness and determination in each other's eyes, as if, at that moment, they were ready to face any difficulties. After thanking the old man, they headed towards the mountains.
Deep in the mountains, trees block out the sun, and sunlight struggles to filter through the gaps between the leaves, creating patches of light that resemble a shattered dream. The surroundings are eerily quiet, as if time has stood still. The occasional chirp of insects echoes through the stillness of the forest, adding a touch of eeriness, like a signal from another world.
They advanced cautiously, taking every step with extreme caution, as if a deadly trap could be triggered at any moment. Suddenly, Suna felt her feet go soft, as if she were stepping on cotton. She looked down and saw she had stepped on soft earth, and the surrounding soil began to wriggle strangely. "No!" Lin Yu shouted, his voice echoing through the silent forest, tinged with tension and anxiety. He quickly reached out and pulled Suna away, his movements clean and efficient, as if they had been rehearsed countless times.
Countless tiny insects emerged from the soil. Their bodies were blood-red, like burning flames, emitting an eerie glow, like messengers from hell. These insects swarmed densely and swiftly, crawling towards the two of them, so fast that they had no time to react. The rustling sound they made as they crawled was like the whispers of a demon, terrifying.
