The True Chapter of Gushu
Lin Yu and Suna had barely recovered from the exhaustion of overcoming their fear when the witch's mysterious, hoarse voice, like a ghost, echoed through the cabin again, like a heavy hammer, hammering down on their already tense nerves. The sound seemed to permeate every inch of the cabin, every speck of dust, carrying an irresistible force.
"Follow me." The Gu Po's figure slowly emerged from the deepest shadows of the cabin, like a ghost emerging from the abyss of darkness. Her steps were as light as a ghost, each step silent, yet shone with an indescribable mystery. The figure loomed in the dim light, as if ready to merge back into the darkness at any moment. Lin Yu and Su Na subconsciously glanced at each other, their eyes meeting, and they saw the same determined look in each other's eyes. Without the slightest hesitation, they resolutely followed the Gu Po.
The witch led them through a secret door in the cabin, hidden in a corner, invisible to the unwary. Behind the door lay a narrow passage, a tunnel of time forgotten by the ages. The walls on either side of the passage were inlaid with stones that shone faintly. The light from these stones flickered, flickering, as if ready to be completely swallowed by the darkness at any moment, plunging them mercilessly into an endless abyss of darkness. The walls were also covered with strange runes, twisted and distorted, like words, like a mysterious language from ancient times. In the dim light, the runes shimmered, as if they had life, whispering an ancient and mysterious tale that seemed to conceal unknown secrets and dangers.
As they walked along the passage, their footsteps echoed in the silence, each step akin to a heartbeat. After an unknown amount of time, they arrived at a spacious stone chamber. The chamber was vast, yet filled with an oppressive and eerie atmosphere. In the center sat a massive sarcophagus, resembling a small hill, exuding a heavy, ancient aura. The sarcophagus was also engraved with runes, echoing those on the passage walls, emanating a mysterious and powerful power. The coffin lid opened slightly, releasing a nauseating, rancid odor. The odor, thick as substance, mixed with the distinctive fishy smell of poisonous insects, penetrated Lin Yu and Suna's nostrils, nearly causing them to vomit.
"What's in this sarcophagus?" Lin Yu asked warily, his hand unconsciously tightening around the hilt of his sword, his knuckles turning white from the strain. A strong sense of unease welled up in his heart, as if an invisible hand were gripping his heart. The sarcophagus seemed like a vast mystery, a hidden abyss of endless danger that could swallow them all at any moment.
The Gu Woman slowly approached the sarcophagus, her movements gentle and solemn, as if she were performing a sacred ritual. She gently stroked the runes on the lid, her eyes revealing a complex emotion, a mixture of awe and longing. "Enclosed within is an ancient Gu King. It is one of the sources of Gu magic's power, and it is also my next test for you." The Gu Woman's voice was low and mysterious, as if she were recounting a forbidden legend.
Suna frowned, a flicker of fear in her eyes, like a fleeting meteor across the night sky—brief but dazzling. "A test? Are we supposed to get close to it?" She knew all too well the power and danger of the Ancient Gu King; the aura it emanated alone was enough to terrify her. Her heartbeat quickened, threatening to burst from her throat, and all sorts of terrifying images surfaced in her mind.
The witch nodded slightly, looked at them calmly, and said, "You must take out a special Gu egg from the sarcophagus without angering the Gu King. This Gu egg is the key to unlocking the secret of Gu magic. Only by passing this test can you truly understand Gu magic." Although the witch's voice was calm, it revealed an unquestionable firmness.
Lin Yu took a deep breath, trying to suppress the fear surging within him like a raging tide. His chest rose and fell violently, as if trying to expel all the pent-up energy. "What should we do?" He knew that having come this far, retreat was impossible. Only by facing it bravely could he hope to uncover the secrets of witchcraft.
The Gu Po pulled out a small jade bottle from her bosom. The bottle shimmered softly in the dim light, like a glimmer of hope in the darkness. She handed it to Lin Yu and said, "This jade bottle can temporarily mask your aura and reduce the Gu King's hostility towards you. But time is limited, so you must complete the task as soon as possible."
Lin Yu took the jade bottle, feeling its warmth. He gently uncorked it, and a strange aroma instantly filled the air. It was fresh and unique, like a spring breeze, temporarily dispelling the nauseating stench and fishy smell. He handed the jade bottle to Suna, and they each applied some to their bodies. The fragrance was like an invisible protective film, bringing them a sense of security.
Cautiously approaching the sarcophagus, Lin Yu and Suna could sense the Gu King's powerful, sinister aura, like a heavy boulder bearing down on them, making every step difficult. From within the sarcophagus, the faint sound of the Gu King's wriggling could be heard. The sound was muffled and eerie, like the whispers of a demon from the depths of hell, as if it had sensed the intrusion of an outsider in its slumber.
Lin Yu slowly extended his hand, trembling slightly with a mixture of nervousness and fear. His eyes were fixed on the sarcophagus, filled with vigilance and concentration. Just as his hand was about to touch the Gu eggs, the Gu King suddenly let out a low roar, a roar like rolling thunder, echoing through the stone chamber. The sarcophagus shook violently, as if a small earthquake had occurred, and surrounding rocks fell. Startled, Lin Yu's hand stopped in mid-air, his heartbeat suddenly accelerating, as if it was about to burst through his chest.
