The mastermind behind the scenes emerges
After defeating the evil poisonous insect, Lin Yu and Suna's hearts didn't relax at their temporary victory. Instead, they felt a heavy weight weighing on their shoulders. They watched with solemn eyes as the injured villagers groaned in pain. The once peaceful and tranquil Miao village was now in ruins, with shattered houses and devastated ground. A strong sense of responsibility burned within them, making them realize that this was only the beginning of a nightmare, and that a greater crisis might lie ahead.
"We must find the mastermind behind this. We can't let the Miao village be threatened like this again." Lin Yu clenched his fists, his knuckles turning white from the strain, his eyes gleaming with anger and determination. His heart was filled with rage, but his deep affection for the Miao village and his sense of mission to protect the villagers made him unable to tolerate such atrocities happening again. Every time he saw an injured villager, his heart felt like it was being hammered by a heavy hammer, and his resolve for revenge and protection grew stronger.
Suna nodded vigorously in agreement, her brows furrowed slightly, a hint of worry in her eyes. "True, but they're so cunning, knowing how to manipulate the poisonous insects to launch attacks. They must also have a deep understanding of poison techniques. We need to take a long-term approach." During her battle with the evil poisonous insects, she had deeply felt the strangeness and power of their tactics. This made her realize that this opponent was no ordinary force, and that rash action would likely lead to deeper trouble. She knew that facing such an enemy, she must remain calm and formulate a thorough plan.
Seeking clues, the two decided to begin their investigation at the source of the Gu worm attacks—the east side of the village. They slowly advanced along the path of the infestation, each step cautious, their eyes like those of a falcon, watching for even the slightest clue. Everywhere they looked was a scene of devastation. The trees, as if touched by the Grim Reaper, withered and lifeless. The land, as if cursed by an evil spirit, was barren, cracked, and emanated a sickening, rancid stench, as if telling of the horror they had just experienced.
"The Gu worms here seem to be driven by a dark force, completely different from the orthodox Gu techniques we've learned." Su Na squatted down, her slender fingers gently touching the remaining Gu worm marks on the ground, her brow furrowed, her eyes filled with confusion. She tried to decipher the hidden secrets from these seemingly ordinary yet profound traces, trying to decipher the mastermind behind the incident. Her heart was a mixture of curiosity and worry.
Lin Yu carefully inspected his surroundings, not missing a single corner. Suddenly, his eyes were drawn to some strange footprints. These were much larger than those of ordinary people, and their shape was extremely distorted, as if they were left by some deformed creature. "Suna, look at these footprints. They don't look like those of ordinary villagers. Could they be left by the person who controls the Gu worm?" Lin Yu's eyes flashed with excitement, as if he had seen a glimmer of light in the darkness. This might be the key to finding the mastermind behind the incident.
Suna hurried over, squatted down, and carefully examined the footprints. Her expression instantly grew serious. "It's very possible. But the footprints are so strange. Who is the person behind them? Or... what is it?" A chill surged through her heart, as if an invisible hand was gently tugging at her nerves. All kinds of terrifying speculations involuntarily emerged in her mind, and those unknown fears surged into her heart like a tide.
The two followed the footprints, which stretched far and wide, eventually leading to a mysterious forest outside the Miao village. This forest normally exudes a mysterious and eerie atmosphere, as if hiding countless unknown secrets, and few villagers dare to venture deep within. At this moment, a light mist permeated the forest, shrouding it like a veil and adding a hazy sense of mystery. The trees were tall and dense, their thick branches intertwined. Sunlight struggled to filter through the gaps between the leaves, casting patches of light and shadow, like a giant chessboard, adding to the eerie atmosphere.
As soon as they entered the forest, Lin Yu and Suna felt an oppressive atmosphere, as if an invisible hand was tightly gripping their throats. The surroundings were eerily quiet, so quiet that only their own heartbeats and breathing could be heard. Occasionally, the call of an unknown bird could be heard. The sound was sharp and shrill, echoing in the silent forest, making people even more creepy, like a wail from hell.
"Be careful, something feels off here," Lin Yu whispered, his voice extremely low, fearing to alert the danger lurking in the shadows. He gripped his weapon tightly, his fingertips turning slightly white from the pressure. He vigilantly observed the movements around him, every slightest sound setting his nerves on edge. His heartbeat involuntarily quickened, and a sense of foreboding hung over him like a dark cloud.
Suna nodded gently, not daring to make a loud noise, only responding to Lin Yu with her eyes. She concentrated, chanting something, and casting a spell, summoning several sensitive insects. Like nimble little spirits, these insects flickered faintly, cautiously exploring their surroundings. Suddenly, one of them sent back an unusual signal, its body trembling slightly, as if it had discovered something extremely dangerous.
The two men cautiously followed the direction indicated by the insect, each step pacing with their own heartbeats. In an open meadow, they came upon a vast black magic circle. The circle was covered in strange runes, twisted and eerie, like twisted demons baring their fangs and claws. The runes shimmered with an eerie light, flickering, as if uttering some sinister curse that sent chills down their spines. In the center of the circle sat a box emitting a black aura. The black energy surged like a substance, seemingly consuming everything around it.
