Chapter 232: The Thickening Fog

The fog thickens

Lin Yu and Suna, exhausted as if all their strength had been drained, slowly returned to the Miao village. It was nearly dusk, and the setting sun, like a giant fireball, hung in the sky, casting its afterglow over every inch of the Miao village. What should have been a warm and peaceful scene was now, overwhelmed by their heavy worries, cast a shadow of gloom, as if shrouded by an invisible black veil.

As soon as they entered the village, the Gu Po hurried out to greet them. Her wrinkled face, her eyes revealing deep concern and anxiety, like a sharp eagle, instantly sensing something was amiss between them. "How are you? Are you hurt?" The Gu Po's voice trembled slightly, tinged with worry and heartache. Her gaze, like a fine comb, scanned the two of them, taking in every detail.

Lin Yu suppressed his fatigue and forced a smile, trying to reassure the Gu Po. "We're fine, Gu Po. It's just that that mysterious man was too cunning, with endless tricks, and in the end, he escaped." Thinking of the mysterious man turning into black smoke and disappearing without a trace before their eyes, Lin Yu felt a surge of resentment, like a huge rock weighing heavily on his heart.

Suna continued, with a hint of fear in her tone: "The poisonous insects he controlled and the spells he cast were extremely evil. When we were fighting fiercely with him, he actually tried to cast an even more powerful spell. That scene... seemed to drag the entire Miao region into an endless dark abyss, bringing about a catastrophe." Her eyes revealed deep worry. As soon as she closed her eyes, the pervasive black mist and the terrifying phantom with bared fangs and claws would appear before her eyes, leaving her with lingering fears.

The witch's brows furrowed tightly together, like two locked peaks, her expression as solemn as the sky before a storm. "It seems the long period of peace in Miaojiang has truly come to an end. This mysterious man is probably hiding a massive conspiracy." She slowly turned and walked towards the cabin with a slightly heavy step, raising her hand slightly to signal Lin Yu and Suna to follow.

The three of them entered the cabin, where the atmosphere was oppressive and suffocating. The witch slowly sat down in the center of the cabin, lost in deep thought. Her eyes were deep and solemn, as if she were recalling memories lost in the dust of time. After a long moment, she slowly spoke, her voice low and hoarse, as if coming from an ancient time tunnel: "In the Gu Shu tradition that I know of, there exists an ancient and sinister branch called 'Dark Gu Shu.' This Gu Shu focuses on manipulating dark forces and evil Gu worms. Practitioners all harbor ulterior motives, seeking to use the power of Gu Shu to rule the world and satisfy their own ambitions. Perhaps this mysterious person is the heir of Dark Gu Shu."

Lin Yu's heart suddenly jumped, as if struck by thunder. "If this is true, Miaojiang, and indeed the entire world, will be plunged into a great crisis. What should we do?" His eyes were filled with anxiety, a burning fire that threatened to consume him. He desperately wanted to find a solution immediately, to save Miaojiang from this dire situation.

The Gu Po slowly stood up and paced back and forth in the wooden house, each step weighing heavily on everyone's hearts. "We must first uncover more clues about the Dark Gu Techniques and thoroughly understand their weaknesses. I remember an ancient tome in the forbidden lands of Miao territory that contains detailed information on the Dark Gu Techniques. However, the forbidden lands are fraught with danger, filled with deadly traps and guarded day and night by incredibly powerful Gu Beasts. A single careless move could lead to irretrievable doom."

Su Na gritted her teeth, a look of determination flashing in her eyes, as if she had made up her mind to fight to the death. "Gu Po, we are willing to go to the forbidden land to search for the tome. For the safety of Miaojiang, even if the road ahead is filled with swords and fire, no matter how great the danger, we will never retreat." Her eyes were filled with determination. The people of Miaojiang had already suffered too much at the hands of the mysterious man. How could she watch the danger approach step by step without doing anything?

Lin Yu nodded in agreement without hesitation, his fists clenched tightly, his knuckles turning white from the exertion. "That's right, Gu Po. We can't just sit there and wait for death. We must take the initiative and fight this evil force to the end." A burning desire ignited within him, like a burning torch, illuminating every corner of his heart.

The Gu Po looked at the two men's determined eyes, as if she saw hope for Miaojiang. She nodded with relief, a tear glistening in her eyes. "Since you've made up your mind, I'll prepare some self-defense items for you. But you must remember that the dangers in the forbidden area are beyond imagination. If you encounter danger you can't handle, return immediately. Miaojiang needs you, so don't act rashly."

The next morning, barely dawning, the world seemed still shrouded in a hazy sleep. Lin Yu and Suna, under the Gu Po's gaze, filled with worry and expectation, resolutely set out on the road to the forbidden land. The road was thick with fog, a vast white curtain that shrouded the surrounding mountains, making them appear and disappear, as if hiding countless unknown secrets. Every wisp of mist seemed to whisper, revealing the mystery and danger of the forbidden land.

When they finally reached the edge of the forbidden area, a powerful and mysterious aura washed over them, like an invisible giant hand pressing firmly against their chests. Strange runes were carved into the entrance. Like an ancient, mystical language, they shimmered with a faint, eerie light, as if warning any trespassers. The runes' lines twisted and complex, resembling countless entangled venomous snakes, exuding a chilling aura.
