Canyon Terror
Lin Yu and Suna stood in the narrow, cramped canyon. The rustling sound grew increasingly audible, as if countless tiny demons were impatiently rushing toward them. Lin Yu's palms were already drenched with sweat, and his grip on his weapon trembled slightly, but his eyes were determined. He slowly approached Suna and said in a low voice, "From the noise, we know they're coming in large numbers. This isn't a good situation. We need to stand back to back and look after each other. We must not lose our composure." Suna nodded silently, her lips slightly pursed. Although her eyes were tense, they also revealed a resoluteness, as if declaring her fearlessness in the face of unknown danger.
As the eerie sound drew closer, a swarm of black creatures, spider-like but the size of human heads, surged out of the deep shadows of the canyon like a black tide. Their eight legs crawled swiftly and chaotically across the ground, making a piercing sound like countless needles simultaneously scratching glass, making one feel uneasy. Their eyes flickered an eerie red light, like will-o'-the-wisp fire burning in the darkness, and sticky threads continuously emanated from their mouths, forming a faint barrier in the dim canyon.
"What the hell is this!" Lin Yu's heart suddenly tightened, a chill running down his spine. He knew that facing this strange creature he had never seen before, the slightest mistake would lead to his utter destruction. Without time to think, he quickly unleashed his power. A dazzling beam of light shot out from his hand like lightning, accurately striking the creature in front. After being struck, the creature instantly curled up and let out a sharp hissing sound, as if conveying pain and anger to its companions. However, the creature struggled only for a moment before staggering to its feet and continuing to rush towards them fiercely, the bloodlust in its eyes becoming increasingly intense.
Suna reacted immediately, muttering something to herself as she quickly summoned her Gu worm. Like a brilliant, multicolored streak of light, it flew towards the group of black creatures with a humming sound. The Gu worm and the black creatures collided instantly, and in an instant, a chaotic and terrifying melody filled the air. The humming of the Gu worm and the hissing of the black creatures intertwined, creating a disturbing and disorienting atmosphere.
Lin Yu focused his attention on attacking the relentlessly advancing black creatures while rapidly pondering countermeasures. He keenly sensed that while each of these creatures might not seem powerful individually, their sheer numbers and ghostly agility made them incredibly difficult to defend against. Completely annihilating them would be no easy task. "Suna, these creatures are like a tide, endlessly pouring in. If this continues, we'll be overwhelmed sooner or later. We need to find a way to divert them. We must not let them surround us," Lin Yu shouted anxiously, his voice echoing off the canyon walls with a hint of nervousness and anxiety.
Suna watched the battle between the Gu worms and the black creatures, directing their movements. She replied, "I'll try to clear a path ahead with the Gu worms. You wait for the right moment, and we'll charge to the other side of the canyon." She closed her eyes, concentrating all her energy, and commanded the Gu worms to rapidly form a colorful barrier ahead. The Gu worms formed a tight formation, releasing powerful energy that temporarily blocked the black creatures' overwhelming attack.
Lin Yu watched the situation intently. Seeing the moment the black creatures were blocked by the insect barrier, he shouted, "Go!" Like an arrow from a bow, the two of them dashed towards the other side of the canyon. Seeing their prey trying to escape, the black creatures suddenly became even more frantic, their speed suddenly increasing, and they stomped along the canyon walls as if they were walking on flat ground, as if the entire canyon was their hunting ground.
During his frantic escape, Lin Yu's gaze stumbled across the canyon wall, where he spotted some strange patterns. These strange patterns resembled both ancient and mysterious writing and symbols imbued with endless mysteries. A sudden thought struck him: Could these patterns hold the key to escaping this predicament? However, the situation was too urgent to afford him even the slightest delay in studying them.
At that moment, a black creature, seizing Lin Yu's moment of distraction, pounced from the side like a flash of black lightning. Lin Yu sensed the danger and instinctively dodged, but his abrupt movement caused his arm to accidentally collide with the canyon wall. As his arm brushed past the patterns, something strange happened. The patterns suddenly glowed faintly and mysteriously. Then, a powerful and mysterious force surged from the wall like a surging undercurrent, sending the surrounding black creatures flying with overwhelming force. Like fallen leaves caught in a gust of wind, the black creatures tumbled through the air, hissing in agony.
"What's going on?" Suna's eyes widened in surprise, her heart filled with confusion and delight at the sudden scene. Lin Yu was equally shocked, but he keenly realized that this might be their perfect opportunity to escape their predicament. "Never mind, let's keep going and see what other uses these patterns have," Lin Yu said eagerly, a glimmer of hope in his eyes.
The two men scrambled along the canyon wall, carefully dodging the rain of attacks from the black creatures while racing against time to find the patterned areas. Whenever they approached a patterned area, mysterious forces would appear like divine troops descending from the sky, temporarily repelling the frenzied attacks of the black creatures. However, as they progressed deeper into the canyon, the black creatures grew in number like dark clouds, obscuring the sky and the sun, while the patterned areas became increasingly scarce, like oases in the desert.
Lin Yu couldn't help but feel anxious. He knew that if they couldn't find a solution quickly, they would sooner or later be overwhelmed by the endless black creatures and trapped in a desperate situation. "Suna, we have to speed up. We must find the pattern of these patterns, otherwise we really won't be able to hold out for much longer." Lin Yu shouted loudly, his voice full of fatigue and anxiety, while brandishing his weapon with all his might, fighting a desperate battle with the black creatures.
