Chapter 247: Secrets of the Ruins and New Crisis

Secrets of the ruins and new crises

After a desperate fight with the monster, Lin Yu and Suna collapsed exhausted on the shattered stone floor, gasping for air and trying to calm their racing hearts. The chamber was completely silent, their rapid breathing the only sound echoing through the air. The startling cracks on the walls resembled the dry wounds of the earth; broken stone pillars lay scattered like the fallen remains of ancient giants; the uneven ground, like an abstract painting, recorded the thrilling battle.

Lin Yu was the first to recover. He knew full well that this ruin was like a mysterious treasure trove, hiding countless unknown secrets, and they had only just begun to uncover a corner of that mystery. He slowly stood up and, with heavy steps, walked to where the monster had fallen. He squatted down, observing it intently. The monster's body was gradually dissipating, slowly melting into the air like smoke, leaving only a few glimmering black fragments, exuding an eerie aura in the dim stone chamber.

He carefully picked up a fragment, which trembled slightly in his hand, as if a living object was beating restlessly. "Suna, look at these fragments, there seems to be something strange." Lin Yu frowned, his eyes revealing confusion and curiosity.

Upon hearing this, Suna quickly walked over to him, squatted down, and fixed her gaze on the fragment. She frowned slightly, pondered for a moment, and said, "This might be related to the source of the monster's power. Perhaps we can find more clues about the ruins from them." Her voice was soft, but it was remarkably clear in the silent stone chamber.

The two exchanged glances, understanding each other, and carefully put the fragments away. Then, they continued their exploration of the stone chamber. At the rear, a tightly closed stone door caught their attention. Tall and heavy, it was covered in intricate and exquisitely carved patterns and text. The designs depicted bizarre creatures of varying forms, some resembling birds with six legs, others like snakes with wings, as if from another, mysterious world. There were also mysterious rituals, with people dressed in ornate attire praying devoutly around a giant totem. The words, with their twisted and winding strokes, spoke of an ancient and mysterious language they had never seen before, as if speaking of the vicissitudes of time and the secrets of the ruins.

Lin Yu gently stroked the patterns on the stone door, his fingertips tracing the uneven lines, his heart filled with curiosity and a desire to explore. "What's behind this door? I feel like it hides the key to the ruins." There was a hint of anticipation in his voice, as if he was talking to himself, or perhaps asking Suna a question.

Suna stared intently at the words, trying to discern some pattern. Her eyes revealed a focus and persistence, as if she were determined to penetrate these mysterious characters. "These words might be the clue to unlocking the stone door, but we have to find a way to decipher them," she said, gently tracing the shape of the words with her finger.

Just as they were concentrating on studying the stone door, a slight rustling sound shattered the silence. The sound was faint, seemingly coming from a corner of the stone chamber. In the eerily quiet surroundings, it seemed particularly abrupt and unsettling. Lin Yu and Suna exchanged a glance, a flicker of alarm in their eyes. Their bodies instinctively tensed, and like cheetahs spotting prey, they quickly drew their weapons, their eyes fixed on the source of the sound, and slowly approached the corner.

In a dark corner of the stone chamber, they discovered a cluster of wriggling black insects. These insects resembled centipedes, but each was the size of a palm. They shimmered with an eerie black light, as if imbued with life by the darkness. They gathered densely, entwining and wriggling, making a creepy rustling sound, as if guarding something important.

"These bugs look dangerous, be careful," Lin Yu whispered. His voice was soft, but it was filled with nervousness. He gripped his weapon tightly, his knuckles turning white from the force, and stared intently at the bugs, not daring to slack off even for a moment.

Suna nodded slightly, a hint of nervousness and determination in her eyes. She quickly summoned several poisonous insects, which flew out of her hands like a stream of colorful light, circling and dancing in the air, making a buzzing sound of flapping wings, ready to respond to any possible attack.

At that moment, a bug seemed to sense their threat and suddenly rushed towards them at an extremely fast speed, like black lightning. Lin Yu reacted quickly. Almost at the moment the bug launched an attack, he swung his weapon. A flash of cold light flashed, and with a "whoosh", the bug was sent flying, hitting the wall with a dull sound. However, this bug's attack seemed to be a signal. More bugs were stimulated and rushed towards them, like a black tide, unstoppable.

Lin Yu and Suna quickly stood back to back, forming a tight defensive circle. Lin Yu's weapon danced rapidly through the air, scattering streaks of cold light. Each swing accurately repelled several insects. The weapon collided with the insects, making a "bang bang" sound, and the insects' body fluids splashed out, emitting a pungent odor. But the number of insects was too great, and they continued to pour in, seemingly endlessly.

Suna was completely absorbed in directing the insects, her eyes closely following their flight paths, muttering to herself. Under her control, the insects nimbly moved through the swarm, engaging the insects in a frenzy. As she directed them, Suna carefully observed the insects' movements, trying to find their weaknesses. "These insects seem sensitive to sound. Let's try making loud noises to see if we can repel them," she shouted, her voice echoing through the stone chamber with a hint of anxiety.
