Chapter 254: Small Town Turbulence and Mysterious Visitor

Small town turmoil, mysterious visitor

After bidding farewell to the old man, Lin Yu and Suna embarked on a new journey filled with anticipation. The winding path stretched endlessly beneath their feet. Sunlight filtered through the layers of leaves, casting a shimmering, shimmering light and shadows like fine gold foil, creating a dreamlike golden carpet for them. Along the way, a gentle breeze carried the uniquely refreshing scent of the mountain forest. Their laughter echoed in the air as they enthusiastically discussed the unknown adventures ahead. Each new idea fueled their endless anticipation for the journey ahead.

A few days later, they arrived at a tranquil town, akin to a paradise. Surrounded by verdant mountains, it resembled a cradle meticulously crafted by nature, nurturing this peaceful land. A crystal-clear river, like a flowing ribbon, flowed through the town, its gurgling water creating a melodious sound, almost like the whispering of an ancient and beautiful ballad. The houses, mostly quaint and elegant wooden structures, were arranged in an orderly pattern. The curls of smoke from the chimneys lent the town a warm and peaceful atmosphere, immersing one in a tranquil pastoral landscape.

Lin Yu and Suna strolled into the town, instantly captivated by its tranquility and peace. They found an inn with a quaint charm, and upon entering, a faint woody fragrance greeted them. They decided to stay, intending to rest for a while and replenish their supplies before continuing their journey to the unknown, refreshed.

In the evening, the afterglow of the setting sun dyed the sky a vibrant orange-red, resembling a magnificent oil painting. Lin Yu and Suna arrived at the inn's restaurant for dinner. The place was bustling with activity, the townspeople chatting quietly, their faces filled with simple smiles, the atmosphere harmonious and warm. As Lin Yu and Suna savored their food, they suddenly heard the whispers of several townspeople at a neighboring table.

"Have you heard? A strange-looking person has come to town recently." A middle-aged man frowned slightly, deliberately lowered his voice, and there was a hint of mystery in his expression.

"That's right, I saw it with my own eyes. The man wore a hood all day long, covering his face tightly. He looked weird no matter how you looked at him." Another young townsperson echoed, his eyes full of curiosity and confusion.

"I heard that he often sneaks out at night and goes to the abandoned old house outside the town. Do you know that a lot of strange things have happened there in the past?" A white-haired old man frowned, his face full of worry, and shook his head slightly.

Lin Yu and Suna glanced at each other, a hint of intense curiosity surging in their eyes. Lin Yu leaned closer to Suna and said in a low voice, "That does sound a bit strange. Why don't we go check it out? We might find something unexpected and interesting." Lin Yu's eyes sparkled with excitement, his desire to explore the unknown instantly ignited.

Suna nodded without hesitation, her eyes also sparkling with excitement. "Great, we're always looking for new adventures anyway, and this might be the perfect opportunity." Suna's heart was filled with a desire for the unknown, and she couldn't wait to uncover the mystery.

After dinner, darkness had fallen, the veil of night gently enveloping the town like a vast sheet of black silk. Lin Yu and Suna, taking advantage of the darkness, like two ethereal night cats, quietly made their way to the abandoned house on the outskirts of town. Moonlight streamed across the ground, casting their slender, slightly mysterious shadows. The surroundings were eerily quiet, their gentle footsteps alone echoing on the empty road, as if shattering the stillness while also awakening unknown fears lurking in the darkness.

Soon, they arrived at the abandoned old house. The door stood ajar, its hinges creaking in the breeze, a sound like the sigh of vicissitudes of time, particularly harsh in the silent night. The yard was overgrown with weeds, taller than a person, swaying in the moonlight, like countless hands dancing in the darkness. Several dilapidated houses stood in the moonlight, their walls mottled and roofs collapsed, appearing particularly eerie, as if something terrifying could burst from within at any moment.

Lin Yu and Suna stepped cautiously into the courtyard. A chill instantly washed over them, like a pair of icy hands crawling up their spines. Their hearts raced, their nerves tense. Suddenly, a faint, almost imperceptible sound reached their ears, like a whispered song, a call from another world. The sound, faint and indistinct, emanated from a dilapidated house. In the stillness of the night, it felt eerie and terrifying.

Lin Yu instinctively gestured for Suna to remain silent. Then, the two of them, stepping lightly, slowly approached the room, like a cat and mouse. Moonlight streamed through the windowpane, and through the hazy glass, they saw a slender, hooded figure standing quietly in the center of the room. Strange, eerie objects lay scattered on the ground around them. The flickering candles cast faint shadows on the walls, creating a distorted and eerie effect. Among the objects were glowing bones and papers covered in mysterious symbols. The symbols seemed to animate, writhing in the candlelight.

The mysterious figure muttered incomprehensible incantations while waving his staff. As he moved, the surrounding candle flames began to dance wildly, their faint glow flickering, as if manipulated by an invisible, sinister force. The flickering light and shadows of the flames flickered on the walls, creating eerie images and filling the room with a gloomy and terrifying atmosphere. Lin Yu and Suna were startled, acutely aware that this mysterious figure was performing some strange and sinister ritual.
