Chapter 263: Behind the Stone Gate, Truth and Crisis

Behind the Stone Gate, Truth and Crisis

When Lin Yu and Suna heard the mysterious voice coming from behind the stone gate, it was like two cold electric currents instantly piercing their bodies, making their hearts tighten suddenly. Lin Yu's hand unconsciously clenched around his sword, his knuckles turning white from the force. He stared at the stone gate vigilantly, his eyes as wide as copper bells, and shouted loudly: "Who are you? Why are you hiding behind the stone gate like a turtle, pretending to be a ghost? If you have the guts, come out openly!" Lin Yu's voice echoed in the silent space, with an unflinching momentum, but in his heart he knew that the mysterious person behind the stone gate must be extremely difficult to deal with.

The mysterious voice rang out again, as if it came from the Netherworld, with a chilling taunt: "Hmph, come out? Do you think you deserve to know who I am? However, since you are so stubborn and insist on exploring the so-called truth, then come in and see if you have the fate to endure what is about to happen."

As the mysterious voice slowly faded, the stone door slowly opened with a dull rumble. Instantly, a pungent, sickening stench of decay, like the roar of a ferocious beast, assaulted their nostrils, several times more potent than the odor of the zombies they had previously encountered. This aura seemed tangible, nearly choking their breath. The stone door was shrouded in darkness, like an endless abyss. Only a few faint, almost negligible rays of light struggled to filter through the narrow cracks above, barely illuminating a small area before them, making this eerie space even more eerie and terrifying.

Lin Yu and Su Na exchanged a glance. Their eyes held no trace of retreat, instead revealing an incomparably resolute and resolute light. It was as if, at that moment, they were already prepared to face any unknown danger. They took a deep breath, and even though the rancid stench made their stomachs churn, they resolutely stepped through the stone gate.

The space within the doorway was vast, resembling a vast underground palace. Strange bottles and jars of various shapes were placed around, some slender like snakes, others round like balls. They held liquids of various colors, like overturned paint boxes. Some shone an eerie, dark blue, like the mysterious light hidden in the deep sea; others were a vivid blood-red, as if imbued with an aura of endless slaughter. Still others bubbled with gurgling sounds, emitting an eerie light that flickered in the dim space, as if poised to devour everything at any moment. The walls were covered in densely intricate runes and strange patterns. The runes resembled twisted, crawling creatures, seemingly wriggling in the darkness; the patterns resembled sinister scrolls, depicting unknown, horrific scenes, as if recording some profoundly evil ritual.

In the very center of the room, there is a huge sarcophagus, standing there like a small mountain. The sarcophagus is also engraved with runes, and those runes flicker with a faint black light, as if telling an ancient and evil spell. The lid of the coffin was slightly opened, and a strong and evil aura emanated from it, like an invisible giant hand, wantonly tearing the surrounding air, filling the entire space with a suffocating sense of oppression. Lin Yu and Suna approached the sarcophagus cautiously, taking every step with extreme caution, as if the slightest mistake would trigger a deadly trap hidden in the darkness. Lin Yu was secretly alert in his heart, and a chill kept running up his spine: "This sarcophagus exudes an indescribable weirdness, as if a pair of eyes are peeping at us in the darkness. There may be greater dangers hidden inside, and we must not take it lightly."

Suddenly, a violent tremor erupted from the sarcophagus, as if a giant beast that had been sleeping for a thousand years had suddenly awakened. With a loud "bang," the sarcophagus lid flew off as if blown away by an invisible force, and then slammed heavily to the ground with a "bang," sending up a cloud of dust. A dark figure darted out of the sarcophagus like a ghost, moving so fast that it was almost impossible to react. When the shadow landed, they finally saw clearly that it was a person in a black robe. The black robe was as dark as the night sky, without a trace of luster. The face was obscured by the deep shadow of the hood, and only a pair of eyes that flickered faintly could be seen. Like a hungry wolf lurking in the darkness, it exuded a chilling aura.

"You shouldn't have come here. You brought this upon yourselves." The man in black robe said coldly, his voice like shattered ice, filled with endless chill.

Lin Yu glared at the man in black robe, with flames of anger burning in his eyes, and asked loudly: "Who are you? Did you create the zombies in this ancient town? What is your ulterior motive?" Lin Yu's voice trembled slightly with anger, but his eyes were extremely firm, as if he wanted to see through the disguise of the man in black robe.

The black-robed figure let out a sinister laugh, a laugh like the cry of a night owl, echoing in the silent space and sending chills down one's spine. "Yes, it's all me. This ancient town once sealed an evil force so powerful it surpasses your imagination. I spent years and overcame countless hardships to find a way to break the seal. Those zombies were merely my experiments in this process." The black-robed figure's tone was filled with pride, as if he were showing off his "great achievements."

Suna was so angry that she was shaking all over. Her eyes were wide open as she demanded, "Why are you doing this? Do you know that unlocking the seal will bring disaster to the ancient town and cause countless innocent people to suffer and die? You are simply insane!" Suna's voice became sharp because of anger. She couldn't understand why the man in black was so cruel.

The man in black robe snorted coldly and said disdainfully: "Catastrophe? For me, this is just a small price to pay to realize my great plan. I will use this evil force to rule the entire world! Under my rule, everything will run according to my will, and those ant-like mortals will become my subjects." As the man in black robe spoke, he raised his hands high, as if he had already seen the glorious scene of himself ruling the world.
