A reversal of fate, a rebirth of the ancient town
Lin Yu and Suna, clinging to each other, struggled to retreat towards the sarcophagus amidst the demonic, surging smoke. The smoke seemed alive, clinging to them like a shadow, attacking them relentlessly, as if determined to devour them completely. Lin Yu wielded his sword with impenetrable force, the blade gleaming with a chilling cold in the dim light, like a silver whirlwind. Yet, the strange smoke seemed to penetrate every pore, slipping through the cracks between their swords like a ghost, occasionally brushing against their bodies, leaving burn marks wherever it passed, accompanied by a piercing pain. Suna's insects were now few in number, but they stubbornly fought their way forward, trying to block some of the smoke's attack, emitting a faint but unyielding hum.
"Hold on, we're almost to the sarcophagus!" Lin Yu yelled at the top of his lungs, his voice echoing in this evil-filled space with an unquestionable determination, both to encourage himself and to impart strength to Suna. At this moment, his arms were so sore from wielding the sword for so long that he was almost numb, and the wounds he had sustained were bleeding profusely. The blood had stained most of his sleeves and dripped down his arms onto the ground. But he gritted his teeth, enduring the waves of excruciating pain, his gaze fixed like a hawk on the sarcophagus ahead, as if it were their only hope.
Finally, after a difficult struggle, they successfully retreated to the sarcophagus. Lin Yu didn't even have time to catch his breath before he quickly crouched down and began to examine the sarcophagus anxiously. He keenly noticed that the flickering frequency of the runes on the lid seemed to have a subtle correlation with the frantic rhythm of the smoke's attack. "Suna, this rune may be the key to resolving this dilemma. I need to focus on studying it. You use the remaining Gu worms to block the smoke as much as possible. You must hold on!" Lin Yu said anxiously, his voice tinged with anxiety and anticipation.
Suna nodded without hesitation, her eyes gleaming with determination. She took a deep breath, focused all her energy, and directed the few remaining Gu worms. As if sensing their master's unwavering resolve, the Gu worms, exerting their last remaining strength, quickly formed a multicolored barrier around them, engaging in a desperate struggle with the ferocious smoke. The smoke frantically attacked the fragile barrier, emitting a sizzling sound, while the Gu worms hummed and wailed, as if denouncing the ferocity of the battle. Yet, they held their ground, refusing to retreat an inch.
Lin Yu stared intently at the runes on the sarcophagus. The runes were intricately woven, like a tangled mess, yet they seemed to hold a mysterious and profound rhythm. He tried to recall previous records of similar runes in ancient texts, his mind racing, trying to match his memory with the strange runes before him. Beads of sweat rolled down his forehead, dripping onto the sarcophagus, but he was oblivious. He was completely absorbed in the intense process of deciphering the runes, as if the world consisted solely of him and the runes on the sarcophagus.
Just as the barrier formed by the Gu insects was about to be ruthlessly broken by the smoke, and the shadow of despair began to loom over him, Lin Yu's eyes suddenly gleamed with light. He had finally discovered the method to decipher the runes. He took a deep breath, calming his pounding heart. Then, he carefully touched the runes in a specific order, muttering a series of obscure syllables. As he moved, the runes on the sarcophagus glowed brighter. A soft and holy white light slowly emanated from the sarcophagus, like the breaking light of dawn, and gradually began to disperse the inky smoke around him.
The black-robed figure witnessed this scene from afar, his face instantly turning pale as paper, his eyes filled with shock and rage. He roared furiously, "How dare you ruin my plans? I will never let you go!" His voice, shrill and piercing with rage, resembled the cry of a night owl. Immediately, his hands began to dance wildly, as if weaving a vast, evil web through the air. He chanted an even more bizarre and powerful incantation, each syllable carrying a dark, magical force that shook the entire space.
Lin Yu and Suna clearly felt the pressure multiplying like a tidal wave. The smoke, which had begun to dissipate, threatened to surge back. But now, the light emanating from the sarcophagus had gained the upper hand. Like a valiant warrior, tenaciously fighting against the forces of darkness, the smoke gradually dissipated under the pressure of the light. Seizing this precious opportunity, Lin Yu gripped his sword tightly, his eyes burning with anger and determination. Like a flash of black lightning, he rushed towards the black-robed figure. "Die! Your evil deeds end here today!" Lin Yu shouted in a thunderous voice. The sword, with its unstoppable sharpness, pierced the black-robed figure like a silver streak.
A flash of panic crossed the black-robed man's eyes, but his fierceness quickly returned. He dodged sideways, his movements as nimble as a black panther. At the same time, he whipped a black dagger from his wide sleeves like lightning. The blade shone with a cold, dark light, like a messenger from hell. Brandishing the dagger, he engaged in fierce close combat with Lin Yu. The dagger and the sword clashed repeatedly, sending up dazzling sparks that blossomed like flowers of evil in the dim space. The black-robed man's moves were ruthless, each strike aimed directly at Lin Yu's vitals, filled with a deadly determination. But Lin Yu, with his unwavering will and superb swordsmanship, was like a rock in the wind, deftly parrying each of the black-robed man's attacks while searching for opportunities to counterattack.
