Past grudges, broken mirror and liberation
The shadowy figure stood in the eerie forest, the surrounding fog thickening as if infected by its sorrow. In this oppressive silence, it slowly recounted its tragic past.
It turns out he was a young and exceptionally gifted mirrorsmith. He was a shining star in the field, possessing an exceptional passion and mastery of the art. Each bronze mirror he crafted seemed imbued with a soul and possessed unparalleled refinement. By chance, he discovered a mysterious piece of bronze amidst the ruins of an ancient site. The moment his hand touched it, a strange power surged through him like an electric current. His intuition told him this piece of bronze was no ordinary object, destined to forge a peerless mirror.
From then on, he shut himself up in his humble studio, studying day and night, devoting himself wholeheartedly to the mirror-casting process. His eyes were fixed on the piece of bronze, his mind fixed on how to forge it into a stunning masterpiece. He meticulously blended the various materials, repeatedly hammered the bronze, pouring endless effort into every step. Finally, after countless days and nights of arduous effort, the bronze mirror that carried all his hopes and dreams was successfully created.
However, fate played a cruel joke on him. After the bronze mirror was cast, strange things began to happen one after another. On full moon nights, the watery moonlight fell on the bronze mirror, emitting a strange and cold light. This light seemed like a portal to an unknown world, mercilessly drawing his consciousness into a dark and despairing realm. In that terrifying space, he felt as if he were in the abyss of hell, clearly feeling endless pain and resentment surge towards him like a tide, as if he were tightly entangled by countless wronged souls, and no matter how hard he struggled, he could not escape.
Terrified, he sought to destroy the mirror that had brought him endless torment. He tried every possible means, pounding it with a hammer and plunging it into a blazing fire, but it remained unscathed, like an indestructible rock. As time passed, the relentless torture brought his spirit to the brink of collapse. Finally, on a full-moon night, with the familiar agony haunting him once again, he ended his young life in utter despair and agony. However, his soul remained trapped within the mirror, as if cursed, unable to escape. The resentment within him grew deeper and deeper, like an unquenchable flame, only vented through his wretched cries.
Lin Yu and Suna listened quietly, a wave of sympathy welling in their hearts. They seemed to sense the despair and pain of the mirror-caster, a sorrow etched in the cruel twists of fate. But they also knew that in this world filled with uncertainty and danger, they couldn't act rashly based on a single account.
"It does sound tragic, but how do we know if what you say is true? And how can we help you escape this?" Lin Yu frowned slightly, his eyes revealing deep caution. He knew that every decision could bring unforeseen consequences, so he had to be extremely careful.
The figure remained silent for a moment, seemingly considering how to convince them. After a moment, it slowly spoke, "In the cave where I once lived, there's a mirror-casting notebook. It details the entire mirror-casting process and the origins of the bronze mirror. Perhaps it holds the key to freeing my soul." There was a hint of hope in its voice, as if it saw a glimmer of hope for release.
Lin Yu and Suna exchanged a glance, their gazes understanding each other's thoughts. They decided to head to the cave to retrieve the notes and uncover the truth. Guided by a figure, they journeyed through a dense, maze-like forest. The intertwining branches felt like hands hidden in the darkness, tugging at their clothes. Moonlight filtered through the leaves, creating patches of light and shadow, yet it couldn't dispel the suffocating, eerie atmosphere.
Finally, they arrived at a secluded cave. A decaying atmosphere permeated the air, as if time had stood still and everything was slowly decaying. Overgrown with weeds, the cave entrance was almost completely covered, as if it had been abandoned for ages, untouched.
They cautiously entered the cave, a damp, pungent smell hitting them, causing them to frown. The cave was as dark as night, with only the faint glow of their torches barely illuminating the small area before them. A few shabby tools, rusted and rusted, hung on the cave walls, as if beholding a past of glory. The ground was littered with the fragments of discarded bronze mirrors, which, illuminated by the torches, cast an eerie light.
Deep within the cave, they discovered a dilapidated bookshelf. It was rickety, as if it would collapse at the slightest touch. It was filled with books and notebooks, the pages yellowed with age, some even beginning to crumble. Lin Yu and Suna, filled with a glimmer of anticipation, began to carefully leaf through the books. They turned the pages with great care, fearing that a single mistake would crumble these pages, carrying history and secrets, into dust.
Finally, they found the mirror-casting notebook. The cover was torn, the paper brittle, and the writing was faint, but they could still make out the contents. According to the notebook, this bronze mirror was forged by an evil sorcerer in ancient times. To satisfy his own evil desires, the sorcerer used it to seal away a group of powerful vengeful spirits. However, as time passed, the seal's power gradually weakened, and the evil power of the vengeful spirits began to affect the mirror's holder. To completely break the seal and free the mirror-caster's soul, they needed to find five gems with special powers and set them in specific positions on the mirror.
