Chapter 269: Exploring the Twin Trees, Hidden Trap

Explore the secrets of the Twin Trees, full of traps

Lin Yu and Suna approached the two mysterious ancient trees with slow, cautious steps. As they drew closer, a rich, ancient, and mysterious aura washed over them like a tide, drawing them into a vortex of time and space shrouded in uncertainty. The bark of the two ancient trees was rough and cracked, like the skin of a weathered old man. Its intricate veins seemed like a mysterious code carved by the hand of time, each line seemingly concealing an untold story. Lin Yu, filled with awe, slowly reached out and gently touched the trunks. Suddenly, a strange sensation spread from his fingertips through his body like an electric current. He was surprised to find that the trunks were trembling slightly, as if a long-sleeping elder were trying to reveal the secrets of the past.

"Lin Yu, look at the lines on this tree trunk. They seem to form some strange patterns." Su Na's voice broke the brief silence. She pointed her finger at a part of the tree trunk, her eyes full of confusion and curiosity.

Lin Yu hurriedly followed Su Na's direction and, as expected, saw faint patterns, like memories blurred by time. Some resembled birds spreading their wings, graceful and light, seemingly imbued with a yearning for freedom; others resembled serpents, agile yet tinged with mystery and danger; others resembled mysterious runes, their twisted strokes as if from another, mystical world. These patterns seemed unrelated, scattered haphazardly across the tree trunk, yet they seemed to hold a profound meaning, like a vast mystery waiting to be solved.

"These patterns might hold clues to the secret passage." Lin Yu frowned, his eyes fixed on the patterns, trying to piece together their hidden meanings. His mind was filled with doubts, a tangled mess. What exactly did these mysterious patterns represent? How were they inextricably linked to the five crucial gems? Were they the key to the treasure, or were they leading them into a dangerous trap? Countless questions swirled in his mind, plunging him into deep thought.

Just then, a gentle breeze swept through, rustling the branches of the twin trees, a sound that seemed to whisper, or even sigh. The sound echoed in the silent valley, carrying an indescribable mysterious power. Lin Yu and Suna were instantly alert, quickly glancing around, their eyes filled with vigilance, their nerves tense, ready for any possible danger. However, aside from the gusts of wind and the rustling of leaves, there was no other sign of anything unusual, as if everything was just an illusion.

"Maybe this voice is guiding us to something." Suna broke the silence, her eyes revealing a hint of expectation, as if she saw a faint ray of light in the darkness.

The two men understood and began a meticulous search around the twin trees, leaving no detail untouched. Their eyes, like the sharp gaze of a falcon, scanned every inch of the ground surrounding the trees. Suddenly, Lin Yu's gaze was drawn to a distinctive stone at the base of one of the trees. Against the backdrop of the surrounding rough ground, the stone appeared remarkably smooth, like a dazzling pearl set within. Lin Yu quickly squatted down, scrutinizing the stone closely. He discovered that it was also engraved with tiny patterns, which seemed to subtly echo those on the tree trunks, as if they were fragments of the same mysterious painting.

"Suna, come and see, this stone is very strange." Lin Yu couldn't suppress his excitement and hurriedly called Suna over.

Suna heard the shout and hurried over. She squatted down and saw the pattern on the stone. A hint of surprise flashed in her eyes. She said, "These patterns seem to instruct us to push the stone in a certain order. Look, the direction of the lines in this pattern seems to suggest the direction of push, and these small dots may be the order in which to push."

Lin Yu agreed, nodding slightly, his eyes filled with concentration. He carefully tried to push the stone according to the instructions on the pattern. At first, the stone seemed to have taken root, motionless. No matter how hard he pushed, he couldn't get it to budge even a little. Undeterred, Lin Yu took a deep breath, adjusted the strength and direction of his force, and pushed again. This time, the stone finally moved slowly, making a dull friction sound, as if breaking the seal of time. As the stone moved, a dull rumble echoed from the ground, as if the earth was awakened from its slumber. Then, a dark hole appeared between the two trees, and a damp, rancid smell filled their faces, causing them to frown.

"It looks like this is the entrance to the secret passage." Lin Yu slowly stood up and stared at the entrance in front of him, feeling both excited and nervous. Excited because after a difficult search, they had finally found the secret passage that might lead to the gems, bringing them one step closer to solving the mystery. Nervous because they didn't know what kind of dangers lay hidden in this secret passage, whether it was a deadly mechanism or an even more terrifying unknown creature.

Suna looked at the entrance, a flicker of hesitation in her eyes. After all, the unknown was always filled with fear. But soon, a gleam of determination replaced the hesitation. She clenched her fists and said, "No matter what's inside, we must go in and see. To find the gem and unlock the seal of the bronze mirror, we cannot retreat."

The two took a deep breath and cautiously entered the secret passage. It was dark and damp, filled with a pungent odor, as if the decay of countless years had accumulated here. Stones embedded in the walls emitted faint glows, like stars struggling in the darkness, barely illuminating the narrow path ahead. They advanced slowly along the secret passage, taking each step with extreme caution, fearing to trigger the danger lurking in the darkness. The sound of their footsteps echoed in the silent passage, a hollow and resounding sound, as if sounding a warning bell for their adventure.
